billy vance, dz.com is your life. i'm sorry....

No, it's not. His life is now his wife and his family; skydiving itself has taken a back seat perhaps, but his knowledge and sense of "right v. wrong" is something that he still chooses to advocate on here (however brash it may be at times), considering his close involvement with the consequences of what Skyride did on a smaller scale in the Southeast earlier on.

Each and every time anyone wants to throw out the fact that somehow Skyride's biggest and most vocal opponent has no say because of the fact that Billy may not jump as much as they themselves do currently, or as much as he used to, let me remind them of a few facts which DO give Billy the credibility to speak out - jump numbers within the past month be damned:

Among his accomplishments while in this sport, he has received
    the Falcon,
    the Double Falcon,
    the Eagle,
    the Double Eagle,
    the 36W Silver Falcon,
    the 64W Golden Eagle,
    Star Crest Recipient,
    Star Crest Soloist,
    4-Stack CRW,
    8-Stack CCR,
    8-Stack CCS,
    12FF,
    Gold Wings,
    PRO 120,
    1997 Alabama 40-way RW,
1997 Georgia 64-way RW (with only 400 jumps),
1997 New Jersey 100 way RW,
1999 New Jersey 101 way RW,
    1999 Virginia 88-way RW,
    2003 Alabama 10-stack CRW,
2005 South Carolina 30 Diamond CRW,
8 separate Deaf World Record skydives,
    22 Demos,
Earned a slot on the 300 way World Record attempt but broke his arm a month before they were to begin and gave up his slot.
He is the only person to hold the Alabama 40-way and 10-stack CRW, made his first 100-way with only 500 jumps, and earned his slot on the 300-way attempt before he had 600 jumps.

You can say he's crude, loud, obnoxious, a thorn in your side, and even that he has terrible breath and farts in elevators, but you CAN'T say Billy's only life is spouting about that organization on this newsgroup.

  2. All I see that she did was state facts which she can easily prove. IF there was a plot, it doesn't appear too elaborate.

The only thing I can definitely come up with in reading these facts is it's either conspiracy or blatant stupidity.

Considering the participants, I'm equally torn between the two explanations.

  3. IMO, I guess the Siamese tandem would be acceptable if 1.) the three together were under the weight limit, and 2.) both sides signed the waiver.

Doesn't fincher=yarak? If that's the case, and the tandem master is the twins, then that's just not right. It would be total chaos. They would be fighting over who got to choke the chicken in freefall.

  4. When I started this thread about Jan's birthday celebration, I didn't intend for it to be so political - but I initiated that with my snippy comment I couldn't help (and which I still stand by...but that's for another topic.) This was Jan's day, and I shouldn't have even mentioned the Axis of E(vil)C.

Sometimes I think I need a breathalyzer installed on my keyboard. Given the atmosphere we are in right now in this sport/industry, it seems the opinion bleeds through into everything; every posting I have, every conversation in the vicinity, seems to go back to that subject. I guess that comes from living so close to the fire as I did for years...years when USPA said it wasn't their problem; and when they finally felt the need to do something, they had a following administration that was compromisingly-charactered, questionable, lassoed in-charge, forcing the cowardly and rash decisions unilaterally and in secret. NOT GOOD! That's when one has to take the issue to a more local level to eradicate the problem. Nevertheless...

Still, I say, people, if we give Jan the privilege (that's debatable too) of renewing her position, it will be a far greater benefit to us than it is to her. She's not having fun with this, nor is she throwing her weight around in her position of higher authority, as some have speculated - she is doing all this for us, not herself. Ask yourself why she should care about a personal affront from this scam? She knows. She's not going to be taken by the crooks - however, there are plenty out here who could be. She could decide tomorrow that she doesn't "have a dog in this fight," and quit, and just have fun doing whatever, and get rid of this time-consuming campaign - hopefully for the future of skydiving, she does not make that choice.

What was editorialized about her in "Skydiving" magazine recently was a complete atrocity of ignorance. This person is obviously oblivious to the big picture.

She is a heroine as far as I am concerned, and if you don't agree...well, then, we should talk about something easy, like politics or religion.

You will never convince me she is not the heartbeat of what we do here.

A vote for her is a vote for you.

  5. No, he definitely can't hear.

If he could, he would have already gone insane with my Abba and Widespread Panic back when I lived in Pell City.

Oh, and BTW, public notice, I am about to change my name here - this johndh1 sounds like a personalized tag on a Grand Am in like 1988.

  6. I know you are in the middle of the SoCal desert on the way home from Eloy back to Hemet, and it's a little early (except by EST), but I just wanted you to know I remembered that today (10/29) you are 29 Again. I am certain the USPA Executive Committee (Cockroachy-Bowing Skyride Benevolence Committee) sees another year of your life in dread...but as for myself, and my kindred spirits, we are celebrating on your behalf. Sometimes it's hard when you are the smarter minority in a majority of dumbasses...

...According to the affidavit of Yvonne Cline,...

Yvonne? That hag has been lurking around the Skyride Sewer since the beginning, and would say and do anything to please the Cockroach, in hopes that one day he will take her to the prom.

Why is it that neither of the two most vile in-charge would testify as to how much was supposedly available to pay out in this suit? Why is it left up to YuCky to give the details of availability of assets? What is her position? If suddenly Mizz Cline's testimony and affidavit are shown to be false, who is penalized? Is it too late by then?

Mizz Cline is then left on the doorstep, while Bon Jovi plays in the background...

  8. If Jan Meyer isn't re-elected by a landslide, jumpers should hang their heads in shame. In spite of the fact that she has devoted so much of her life to the USPA, its sport, and its members, she has at the same time been accused, deceived, betrayed and ambushed by some of her peers, especially of late; and still she continues to work diligently for the betterment of the aforementioned three.

Due to unanticipated personal response, I want to make clear that by "administration," I meant a portion of the USPA leadership who I feel are steering pet issues and personal vendetta, not the board as a whole.

I apologize for not being more specific - I do not see the majority of the BOD as adversarial. Hopefully after next weekend that sentiment will remain.:)

  10. Well, in that case, no question as to whether to drive or fly...it's a gol-darn geographic anomaly - 2 hours from everywhere! And now they are bona-fide with the lifetime memberships...no, wait, those are stipulations from the super-secret settlement so boasted publicly by the Roach King himself at Beezy's memorial (couth be damned).

Blow him; impeach her. Glad my money is going to good use.

  11. I'm booked beginning Thursday. I am still debating the driving v. flying thing.
Some advice: don't tell them you are with USPA if you call, because they charge a higher rate than their website advertises:S for booking online (like $20.00 a day) compared to this "winter getaway" or whatever they call it. I have been informed this usually happens with the past Shriners...errr...USPA meetings.
If the online booking returns "N/A" call them, and you should get a room.
AAA membership gets a discount too, whether you remember to bring your card or not...

And, TC/SC, please attend anyway. At least your questions have merit response - I have not yet heard back from the busy Kaiser himself so I can only assume I am presumed yet another of the daft free-thinking-yet-unintimidated Peanut Gallery this administration so obviously despises.

  12. As was stated earlier, this lawsuit was not "lost," it was "settled," and by a tiny group of people who I do not trust.
What is admirable in giving up and giving in? That is what the Executive Committee did, not "us."
Some disagree with the removal of that company and those slugs from the organization (by reason of "it's not the business of the organization to regulate business") - I am not one of those people. I do not believe that their removal was an attempt to "regulate business." I believe that the people who voted to take action in the first place did the right thing to uphold the integrity and respectability of the organizaton and its members, both current individual and groups, as well as potential future members.
What right did they have to force themselves into membership into an organization? What proof that their ouster caused them financial harm by attempted monopoly?

The very idea that they were somehow wronged by their removal is ridiculous, and it literally makes me sick to think of how this was handled. Even worse, that same few who I personally believe steered this thing into submission add insult to injury by proposing the impeachment of a well-respected, admired, and undeniably appreciated leader and member of the community (and, please, don't bore me by handing me the "but we don't know who exactly proposed the impeachment yet" line).

THEY (the plaintiffs in the suit) are the ones who have done wrong unapologetically, and THEY should not have the right to be part of this organization.

What I'd be interested in finding out is if Jan's impeachment is somehow part of the super-secret terms of the settlement - whether written or verbal.

I am firmly convinced that if handled properly, USPA would have won this lawsuit. Sure, it would have cost money, but it would have saved integrity. Be that as it may, still, to attempt to make this woman a scapegoat is a vile and dastardly deed. Shame on them. I pray that it backfires immensely.

  13. That's unfortunate, Spence; but wanna see a picture of a pierced cock? Then this is the place...but by all means, don't expect any "gray area" when it comes the real issues of forum standards and practices.

the 2000 xterra has a 105,000 mile timing belt.

    fyi

Nope. Two engines there, tech, each set up differently. The smaller engine had a chain, but for some reason the bigger V6 had a rubber belt for a few years.

I think this is because the smaller engine XE is the same as what was in the Sentra or something else in the line already, and the V6 in the SE was a newer engine. Still, I can't find anyone who can tell me why they used a rubber belt in the more expensive model, which if it were to break, would be devastating to the engine.

...oh, yeah, I can...have you seen Nissan parts pricing?!
