    dude this is sick...
    now we need wind sock...
    and we need swoop pond..
and we should make the screen go red when you land too hard..

    way better than i thought..

    Yeah! :)
and canopy size, cells, shape ...
    and wingload
and temperature, DZ ASL altitude, humidity
    and PC and slider features
and some turbulence (too many trees around)
    and other canopies around
and some more obstacles (a river, electric wires, a fence, people walking around)
    and some thermals
and besides the target, the hangar ;)

what is the best thing to do before are skydive if you whant´s to relax

    1- Pack very carefully
2- Check up all your gear
3- Remember how much you are paying for your jump (money, time, effort, etc). Make it pay off
4- Now concentrate on what you are going to do and mentally rehearse it when climbing to altitude
5- Do not over-relax. Be alert!

  3. Being objective and based on the picture, it depends on the focal length and film size (or video equivalent)

From another point of view both jumpers' experience might also be considered.

  4. Glad to know you landed safely and recovered your gear! :)
I saw you have a PD 160R. I also have one with about the same WL and have not cut away. Please, could you tell how well it flies and lands?

    Thank you!

I prefer not to die at all, and to jump as safely as possible.

My ex-girlfriend said all skydivers want to die. So says one ex-skydiver. She stopped jumping after: 1-breaking some electric wires when landing and leaving a big nearby town and the airport without electricity; 2- being about to hit a big water tank on final approach; 3- her main did not open at all and her reserve open too low because nothing happened after pulling the silver; and another issue I cannot remember. All that with less than 40 jumps. BTW, I have her on the phone right now, trying to convince me not to jump anymore :S

But most of us want to keep us alive and healthy for the next jump :)

In the Netherlands, AADs are mandatory for anyone not yet in possession of a C-licence (CRW and such excepted, obviously).

We just need a B license here. Our take off altitude is more than 6500 ft higher than the DZ at least once a day because we take the plane with us to the DZs.

Remember, your main safety backup is yourself, so keep it well maintained and up to date.

    Well said! :)

i had one like that, a couple of zip ties hold the audible in place quite nicely.

for the camera, i don't know, but i'm guessing duct tape will work.:P

I also have one with an AA and a camera attached

didn't seem to exist on the radar until pro-packing, but maybe it is more attributable to higher aspect ratio canopies or some other factor.

I agree line-overs are more likely to happen when pro-packing but they can also occur when flat-packing.

Brake fires are caused by improperly stowing the brakes or only stowing one side. The only other possibility is a toggle being snagged on the container during deployment.

It can also happen when the flaps protecting the risers are not well secured, for instance when the Velcros are worn, and a break line blows in the wind during free fall

What does this have to do with flat vs pro?

You said: "Line overs were unheard of before pro packing"

edited to add: Our instructors taught us to deal with line-overs when jumping static line, when we did not pro-pack yet

Line overs can also happen when a brake releases during opening

    Who told you that?

Hey! I cannot sleep and could find it :)
"Line overs can occur when a brake lock releases during the opening sequence allowing one side of the canopy to surge forward over itself, or due to a packing error or an Act of God " The Skydiver's Handbook, Dan Poynter, Mike Turoff, page 138

  • Any safety feature can create danger because they add additional technical variables (and human variables like a false sense of safety) to keep in mind, and interact with the environment in ways we cannot always predict.

The post "Attempted exit of aircraft with seatbelt still attached " is a good example

How does it effect your family life?

My dad got mad at me as soon as he knew I had got my license. He hated that. My kids are proud and like to tell their friends and teachers I skydive.

    How does it effect relationships?

My ex(1) recently came with me to the DZ, liked a lot and now she wants to do a TM jump. My ex(2) says I am a suicide and that I should better save that money. My whuffo friends understand it and like to talk about it but do not want to jump. I lost a girlfriend because she did not want me to jump anymore and I kept jumping. I have met a lot of nice people, have many more friends now (two orthopedists - coincidence?). . .and a few more "enemies" (all skydivers ;) but nothing some :D:D :D :D after jumping cannot solve :)

    When do you/can you stop?

I do not know ... I hope it does not depend on my AAD ;)

Briefly: A very positive experience! :)

I used a commercially available saline (.65% sodium chloride) nasal spray called Ocean. It was definitely a help. Really snorted it to get it way up nose and then down throat. Significant clearing of mucus. Next time I'll try it and the ear plugs without any Sudafed. I am pretty sure the ear plugs helped too since I removed one right after landing and that ear gave me more trouble than the one I left the plug in for a additional half hour. I am optimistic about finally getting to progress more rapidly. Thanks to all who gave information.

You are welcome! The saline solution works most of the time, If it does not, I would recommend you have your ears examined.

In regard to the ear plugs you can remove them slowly after opening (before releasing your breaks) so you will not get any discomfort.

    Hope it helps! :)

Most have a sort of AAD: If they do not jump and you keep jumping they will automatically fly away.

But if they do jump (tandems do not count) you must treat them as you treat your own brand new rig: with a lot of love, care and respect, let others see them but do not let them touch, keep them covered while not flying them, do not leave them under direct sun, do not leave them alone, untwist immediately any twisted thing, after landing be attentive and do not just relax and leave them laying on the ground, immediately stow their brakes, etc, and mainly keep all their handles protected (remember there are more skydivers around).

A final word: Your reserve must be always ready . . .
