  1. I agree the forum is for people to give their 2 cents worth. And there is a lot to learn from this for everyone. But I do not agree with some Pa removed by slotperfect using links to my videos as a tool to bad mouth people and carry out his own personal agenda/vendetta against them like he has done here in the past. "Not a really good representation of the sport to the general public" no need for that comment at all. But if you look at Vance's posts in the past you will see this is not the 1st time he has made such a comment. I shoot video because I enjoy it. I share my video for the enjoyment of others, and in some cases for us to learn from as well. I do not work with video to give Billy PA removed by slotperfect Vance an avenue to spew forth his bullshit. If I have to shut the whole damn site down I will and then ya'll can go somewhere else for your entertainment.
  2. That's great! By all means show it. Put up or shut up
  3. No one said the police could not keep the crowd in the designated area. The police chose to use the extra space for parking. So a huge ass construction site across the highway was used for the landing. Instead of saying you shouldn't have done it. Go do some yourself. Like I said earlier I'll ban any links from the forums to my web site then we won't have to worry about people giving their 2 cents worth on a group of folks who went and did a demo and made the best of the situation at hand. personal attacks removed. your one warning.
  4. The mission was to please the crowd, in that aspect mission accomplished. And yes knowledge was gained. Be better prepared next time. I'm willing to admit that one. There are quite a few things that could have been done different and next time they will. As far as the landings themselves I saw a Golden Knight botch his landing at the last Coca Cola 600 at the track in Charlotte held under the Winston Cup Banner. 2004 I think
  5. 'cause there was money involved? 'cause there ain't much professionalism in skydiving? why does "flatville" sound so familiar? 1)The Flatville comment was totally uncalled for. 2) yes there was money involved. 3) The President of Bass Proshops, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and NASCAR driver as well as 6000 people were there and gorgeous blue skies with light winds. 4) the landing area that was used was huge, just couldn't come in upwind and there was a huge American Flag as nearby as well.
  6. 1st off I'm the person who video taped the landings so I guess I know better than Billy Vance about what went on that day. Billy needs to get a life, I don't see him posting any videos of him doing any demos. I'm also the owner of the website www.2020vertical.com and I'll just ban any linking from dropzone to my website and put a stop to any video being watched from these forums. 2nd, the police were swamped with more people than was expected so they had to use the original landing area for public parking instead. This happened about 20 minutes before jumpers out. So we had to go to an alternative landing area that had not been discussed much less looked at. And by the way the public couldn't even see the landings from where they were at a 1/4 mile away. Then the stuff you don't see, powerlines, trees, guy on a bulldozer, a big sloping hill going the wrong direction, etc.... prevented the landing from being up wind. And the smoke canister that was suppose to be setoff on the ground failed. So Billy needs to shut his mouth until he can show us some video of him doing something better. Oh and by the way the public was in awe and treated the skydivers like celebrities. So ultimately the skydivers did their job and thrilled the public and stirred up some interest in the audience for skydiving. Mission accomplished.
  7. Thank you for making the links hot.
  8. Jon's obituary is now up online. It can be found at: http://obits.al.com/birmingham/DeathNotices.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=91774081 There is also an online guestbook as well if you wish to sign it. It is at: http://obits.al.com/birmingham/GB/GuestbookView.aspx?PersonId=91774081 Jon, buddy, you will be missed! Blue Skies my friend!
  9. The only thing I can say that might be negative is the landing area is small and sometimes has a high amount of incoming traffic. But there's plenty of grass on the north side of the runway as well that can be used as an alternative landing area. I went straight into AFF, no tandem, and the price on the package deal I got was less than the other 2 schools that are near by. The main plane they use is the Otter, sometimes the King Air. Either plane is fine by me. And the pilot is a skydiver himself so the drops are on the money. I've read a lot of crap about ASC that I just haven't seen personally myself. I've been at ASC every weekend since July 7th except 2. Completed my AFF in 9 jumps and stood my landing on my 1st solo jump yesterday. I jumped with a total of 5 different instructors during my AFF. Everyone of them are very professional and have spent extra time with me on exits, postion, flight patterns, landings, etc... I definitely get my money's worth everytime I go to ASC As far as the management goes. Hey everyone I know has a bad day or makes a mistake at work. And sometimes they might be short an employee or two as well. When you get 70 people trying to do tandems and you throw in a few AFF students and some fun jumpers it can get hectic. Add a weather hold or two and it can turn into pure madness. I would rather wait out the weather than jump if it isn't safe. I have actaully seen a group of jumpers go up from another school when no one should have been in the air. At ASC if it isn't safe you're not going up period. That's just part of skydiving. And when it comes to safety I have never heard safety preached anywhere as much as it is at ASC. The staff there does everything possible to make things go as smooth as they can. If you continue to go to ASC you'll end up on a first name basis with everyone and some pretty cool friendships will develop as well. If you go to ASC's web site you don't see any bad mouthing of their competitors. But go to a competitors web site and you just might see them bad mouthing ASC. That in of itself should tell you something about ASC being a class act. Go to this url for Skydive Alabama http://www.skydiveal.com/ These folks have a java based pop up window that pops up on their main page telling you about how bad ASC is. They're so concerned with ASC that instead of using their web site to entice you to come to their dropzone the first thing you see is how much they dislike their competitor. Makes we want to business with them, not. Also they are located in Cullman, AL. I live in Alabama and Cullman is not known for the intelligence of their residents. And Skydive Smoky Mountains http://www.skydivesmokymountains.com/ dedicates the 2nd paragraph on the main page of their website to badmouthing ASC as well. Their tandem price is higher than ASC as well. I have my own business and I don't worry about my competitors. Won't even talk about them casually. Apparently ASC has taken that same policy, good for them! Definitely a class act operation.
