  1. Here are two that I took this past weekend,

In one the passenger has an awesome expression.

The other is an exit shot that resulted in an amazing tumble as the passenger curled into a ball on exit.

  2. Does anyone know what would cause a camera to randomly take pictures?

I have a canon 10D that I use and its currently only taking about 80 percent of the pictures it should. I press the tongue switch, the camera goes throught the whole action of taking the picture, including the red light flash as its being processed on the CF Card.

When i go to check the pictures, i'll be missing a few, not a block such as the interview portion or the free fall portion, but rather some of each. It will not have processed a few on the ground, a few in the plane, a few in FF, and a few of the landings.

    Any ideas?

  3. I am also a flat flyer, broke myself a few years ago and cant bend my hip very well.

What I learned is to modify my arch. Instead of doing the classic lying on the ground and raising your legs and arch to practice an arch, try the following:

standing up at first, roll your hips forward as far as possible (push out your hips) once you have gone as far as possible, stick out you gut (if you have one) this will give your torso more of a ball shap on the front.

once you can do that with your torso, add your arms and sweep them back while raised above your head, make sure to look at the ceiling.

Its a lot easier to explain in person but I basically arch with my stomach (its not huge as I am skinny), add to the arch with my arms and legs, but my hips are flat.

If you want further help, PM me with a picture of your arch and we can work on it.

    Cheers.

    hey everyone

im looking at getting a full face helmet

i could possibly get a bonehead mamba for around $250 ish
but thats still quite a bit

so my question is what is the best bang for your buck full face out there

    thanks

The mamba is a nice helmet but i would recommend an oxygen instead. These days you can buy a used one for $150, if you shop around a bit (e-bay, dropzone.com classifieds, etc) Why pay for new? worst case you replace the visor for $25.
Save the money for more jumps.

What are the G forces on such deceleration?

Doesn't matter...they're negative G's, they don't effect ya as much as positive ones.

This is actually un-true, neagtive G's effect the body a lot more. Your average fighter pilot can stay consioud through 5 G's. But 2 -G's would render them unconsious.

Either way it would be the impact that kills you, the G force does not matter. The body is more or less contained as the grass or filed acts as a bit of a sponge. hitting on pavement has more direct impact as there is no re-direction of energy.

Hope this help, but do yourself a favour and Buy an AAD.

  6. A lot of your fall rate has to do with the way you fly. I am a 200 Lb guy and jump with everyone ranging from 120 Lbs to 250 Lbs.

Waht you need to focus on is how tight or loose you fly. You can see in our video's when i fly with the big boys, I seem to be folded under myself to drop at 140 MPH. on the flip side I fly like i am spreading out on a bed as much as possible whn I fly with a few of the very small women at the DZ.

The suit does help to control your fall rate, but flying the bubble is just the start of slowing down. once you have mazed out how much air you can cup, stretch out you body and keep cupping the air. Someone who is proficient at this can fly from 110 MPH to 140MPH (sometimes an even broader range)

Try flying tighter or looser in a tunnel to see the difference on video after the fact, Its a great help.

On the note of the suit though, if it is just way to big or its a suction cup it will detract from your flying abilities.

    cheers

  7. I have gone to several camera stores to date. None of them have any idea of which connection a bite switch uses on a Digital Still camera.

Do you know which models are compatible with a 2.5mm plug (Or the old, small plugs) or at least the name of the port that it plugs into?

Failing that, is it possible to soder the bite switch onto the camera?

    Cheers.
