  1. Hello, Been lurking since doing a tandem 3 weeks ago, but since I just did AFF I at the weekend, thought I'd say hello. The nerves on AFF I compared to the tandem were unreal - think my mountaineering experience had me a little too comfy with the tandem concept .... the harness connections were bombproof so what could go wrong, eh? AFF I has dispelled any notion of this being a breeze .... I had a problem with the radio on the canopy ride, so landed near the ute on the edge of the student area. I had a perfectly good TA frantically waving paddles to the left of me but missing the ute kind of kept my attention, ending in a late flare and bum slide (what, no PLF?). I thought that was all good.... after reading on the forums about compressed spinal fractures I've realised it probably was not so cool after all -- chalk up dumbass mistake 1 and the lessons are to not take my eyes off the TA on the next jump - and practice those PLFS more (and use them) I'm doing my AFF at Nagambie in VIC Aus, which seems to be a very busy DZ so its going to be another couple of weeks to AFF II - can't wait! Finding this website has been the second coolest thing I've done recently
