  1. As an ex-officer i feel rather differently to the Piers Roberts matter then you do As an officer he has an obligation to make a stand on various matters, which i and others in the profession feel he was warranted in doing. As far as bitting the hand that 'fed' him. As a competitive jumper, neither Piers Roberts or Andy Newell recieved preferential manifesting or rates. I also believe he left nethers a couple of months before being banned for ' being disloyal to Robin'. I think the only reason he was at the dropzone at all was the fact that he lived less than two miles from the drop zone. I think the thing that struck those at the top as being cheeky was pointing the finger at those responsible for a particularly bad dropzone run by self intrest(everyone in the know is aware how Robin Durie got his position in the APA, and it doesnt have alot to do with ability). It showed how threatened they felt by a couple of exuberant reviews that Retd. Colonel Mike Smith went to the BPA council to attempt to have him banned from all BPA dropzones. Not very mature and in my opinion totaly overeacting. In most resturaunts if the service isnt up to par people complain and get a refund. In BPA dropzones if you complain then you are labeled a troublemaker and then given the ostracon.
  2. lets check out the ones that put good reviews amanda higgins- she works there steve burry-yes caroline hughes- yes fast fall rigging-yup and they have a comercial interest in nethers doing well kyle thomas- has been paid by the DZ from time to time when he has done camps there kath salsbury-yes dale-occasionally mike lewis-yes but hey- i guess im completely wrong sorry i forgot to fill in my profile, only had 10 space minutes that day, some of us work for a living- i guess that invalidates everything i say, i heard what happened to that canadian fellow when he put his name to a review(very mature responce from the dz) i dont know what to say about the negative reviews and the likelyhood of them never jumped there apart from, not very this isnt a dark conspiracy of people who have never jumped at the DZ and want it ruined because they dont like the name of the DZ they probably write bad reviews of the DZ 'cause they havent been well treated and served in the past---odd isnt it?
  3. what about military staff at a military DZ who technically dont get paid by the DZ but do by the army to be honest most/all of the positive reviews on the DZ i think your talking about are all done by the staff there-no doubt at someones prompting
  4. i think nethers could be a great dz if it shed its old habits like slow turn around, slower manifest, old style and accuracy jumpers running the show etc.. the aircraft arent too bad its just that they're never around- they get maintained somewhere else(why???) the military jumpers over the last 3 years have had a 50% increase in jump ticket costs for nothing(less than nothing, i do less jumps per day there every year) ive never met the 2 army guys that run the place its just seems like if it changed its managment it could be great but it is a bit of a lame horse right now why doesnt a civilian firm take over the APA? my two pence anyways
