  1. I've only ever jumped in Sunny Spain :)Time to bite the bullit And address my lack of currency by jumping closer to home.
Waiting for that cold & frosty real clear day.

  2. Have you seen the camoflage containers that are about ?
You can get blue camo, traditional green & brown or the very snazzy desert camoflage.

probably look best with FF pants and a sweat shirt.:)

  3. Me and my jump buddy always jump together.
We travel to Spain 4 or 5 times a year and bang them in.
Although I haven't got round to doing the following yet I will sort it before I jump again.

Give my Best Friend all my nearest and dearests phone numbers.

Give my Jump Buddy my Best Friends phone number.

If I ever pile in then my Jump Buddy would contact my Best Friend.
Better coming from someone who knows me than a total stranger at a DZ.

My Best Friend would then tell my nearest and dearest ( he knows everyone I love )

By doing it this way I think it would help cushion the blow.

I will also leave letters in my home that would explain to the recipients amongst other things that I loved what I did and that i would do it all again if I had the chance :)When I get home again after jumping I will put them away till the next time.

They have funerals now that are called celebrations of life.
Kind of an upbeat thing which will do me fine .

No hymns, just some cool Riffs and a single crew cab Splitty instead of a hearse.
Maybe a swooper or two landing in the park next to the crem where it would take place ( difficult to arrange but awsome )
All this would be in my letters.
    Plus copies of my Waiver.

    Well that's my plan.

Live Life or die of boredom ;)

  4. Also, a couple of years ago I was quite confident and would have got up in the morning, and headed to an Airfield without a thought! I missed that boat and at present, I just need a tiny bit of hand holding to get my first jump out of the way, and home seems more comfortable. Although, I am not frightened - the butterflies are killing me, and I haven't even made it to a DZ yet!

We all love(d) the butterflies :)
    You'll be fine.

  5. Get your head down and earn some money.
Get a flight to Spain for less than £100.
The weathers more or less guaranteed til about mid October.
AFF Levels 1 to 8 will cost about a grand (£ ),maybe less if you shop around.Courses tend to be cheaper in the week.

    Well worth it.
In my experience most students ( including myself ) usually pass their AFF in a couple of days, then you do the business on your own.
    All very professional.

Not knocking UK dropzones, just if you really want to do it and you can afford it, Spains something you might want to consider.

    Best £1000 I ever spent.

    :)

  6. I did a naked two way once from 12.5 K.
The whole thing was an absoloute scream.
Didn't have a protrac on but we were motoring,i reckon at least 150 mph ( no drag and my mate weighed about 16 stone )
Real nice feeling falling through air with nothing on.
If you did a two way you would just laugh at each other all the way.

Make sure your leg straps are tight because I doubt if anyone will check them :)

  7. Only jumped the Porter so my opinion doesn't count for much but the one at Lillo, Spain is a fast climber, sounds real mean when throttled back just before take off and the smell of hot jet fuel just puts me in the mood.
Full load of 10 in high summer is a bit on the warm side but it's all good. :)

  8. All Good so far :)
1.Got my A & B Licence in one foul swoop ( not to be confused with swooping ! )
    Waiting for my licence number.

    2.Got my FS1.
Just a miserable 5 points but I was having such a good time in the final star when I knew it was in the bag that I just 'wasted' the last 10 seconds buzzing and grinning my face off at my 'brothers'.;)
    The video was wicked.
Got real lucky and travelled down the side of a 1500 foot (about 7 seconds ) cloud and it just gave that real feel of speed that us non Base Jumpers crave for.

3.Said farewell to the student landing area at Lillo and landed where the big boys do on the grass at the front.
    No more mud !!!

3.Sorted myself a Rig put ( I hope ) and I'll pick it up next time I'm in Spain.

4.Really considering quitting the Rat Race, renting out my Gaff, buying a big old Winnebago and touring Europe/the World.

    Sky Diving Rocks !!!!!!!

  9. Saw a stunt in the 80's on a UK TV show called Just Amazing.

A guy exited an aircraft and at the same time they threw his Rig out of another aircraft.
The Rig was attached to what looked like a big old cooking pot that was weighted to match his fall rate.

He dived to pin on the pot and attached himself to it using the anchor points a bit like what a tandem master uses.

    Looked real to me.

Now he realy was a Crazy Mother F****r.;)

  10. Being scared is good for the soul.
Jumping in a couple of weeks after a 5 month lay off so I'll be a bit twitchy myself on that first load.
Aff isn't cheap but it's a small price to pay for something that changes the direction of your Life forever.

Listen to what your instructor(s) tells you.
Do exactly what your instructor(s) tell you to do.
    RELAX.

    AFF Rocks ;)

    Be Safe.

  11. I love maintaining eye contact with a tandem student as i just casually fall backwards off the step (Porter) The expression on their faces is always the same.Sometimes the chics scream when they see you go down that hill.
When i look out the door and watch someone go it does something to me.Gone in the blink of an eye.
    Awesome sight,still is,always will be.

  12. I did 2 Static Line jumps on Big Old Rounds in 1987.
I wore a mechanics boiler suit,an old motor cycle helmet and a big pair of boots.
I landed like a bag of b******s and it hurt like hell.

19 years later i did my AFF :)My new log book starts on 3,I've still got my old log book with my 2 S/Lines in it.

I'm now on 51 jumps, that's 49 sky dives plus the other two.

For me though 102 will be my real hundred.

Thank God for Ram Airs ;)

  13. Good for you. You are as old as you feel.;)

I started skydiving last July at the tender age of 39 & 9 months.

Waited all my life for it and it'schanged my life for ever.

I plan to do 4000 skydives by the time I'm 60.

    Go for it.

  14. Once I'm in the door I'm fine :)It's the ride up top that I'll get the knot in the stomach feeling when I haven't jumped for a while [:/]

The thing that blew me away was the first time I watched the skydiver before me go out the door ( so I could establish separation before I exited )
He was gone in the blink of an eye, that's when the penny drops for me,that's when you realise what you are about to do,awesome sight, still is.
I love it when there's a Tandem on the load .I love to just fall off the step backwards and watch their faces, because I know what they're seeing ;)

Makes you realise how those seconds and altitude will disappear if you have a mal.

    Practice your EP's regularly.

Would love to jump a skyvan.

  15. ***Hi all. New here so go easy . I completed my AFF last year but since then every time the weekend comes around I'm finding it ever harder to actually go to the dz. During the week I cant think about anything else but as it gets closer the excitement turns to extreme nervousness and I finally end up not going

    ..........................................................................

1.Try watching your AFF Video and listen to some real cool tunes.
2.Just take the time to think that most people would give their right arm to do once what you have done a dozen times but never will because they haven't got what it takes unlike yourself because you've got a pair.;)
3.Pal up with someone who is at your experience level at the DZ.
Me and my jump buddy began sky diving last summer ( both AFF )and met up at our 'local' DZ in Spain.
We now go on skydiving holidays together and are very much a team.
The next time we both jump will be after a 5 month lay off, so when we climb aboard the porter on a hot day in June we'll both have that little knot in our stomachs and will look at the Alti at 2 Grand and think oh we've got ages yet [:/].Before we know it the buzzer will go off and as soon as that door opens and that cool air hits us we'll both be ready.
No more butterflies, lets get it on.

You are part of a rare bunch of people, don't give up on it,get on a load and everything will be beautiful :)

  16. ***When I got recurrent, and switched over to throw-out rigs, I was taught that a PCIT is a total, not a partial. I still believe that to be the case, and treat it accordingly.

    Noted,a high speed total malfunction.

Since posting my initial question, PC In Tow, Pull Silver or go Red Silver I have read this thread and several others.

I have read constructive arguements for both silver and red silver.
At my experience level I'm gonna play it like this.

1.Throw out PC at 4 Grand.
2.If nothing happens I will Cut Away and pull my Reserve.

After watching an 80's video called Breakaway ( Bad Hair ;)) it advised ( disclaimer )going strait for silver with a PC in Tow.Hence this thread.
I put this to my instructor and she said I've taught you Red Silver.
She went on to say that I wouldn't know what was flying behind me and that I didn't have the experience to make any other decision than go Red Silver.

I trust her with my Life.
If it all goes pair shaped next time [:/]I will not hesitate.
    Red Silver.

I do feel that there is a lot of value in looking over your left shoulder to disrupt a burble.
I will check this out during my skydive along with touching all my handles in sequence and I will treat each deployment as if it's gonna gonna be a Mal.

Be Safe, thanks all for your responses :)

  17. I had a feeling this would open a can of worms.
There have been a lot of constructive arguements for silver or red silver in this thread.

My instructor tells me cut away & pull the reserve.
No time to think at 4 Grand, never mind two.
I know what I'm gonna do.

I will be checking out looking over my left shoulder though, if my instructor says ok :)

    Nice one brothers and sisters.

  18. I asked my instructor what to do with a pilot chute in tow.
She said do what I've taught you to do,cut away and pull your reserve.
I said but on the Breakaway video they 'advise' going strait for the reserve because the container is still closed and there's no main to cut away.
She said you don't have the experience to make that call or the time or altitude, you don't know what's you've 'got out' follow the EP's you've been taught.
I trust my instructor more than anyone else, what she says goes.;)
No time for any indecision up there,I know what I'm gonna do if the S**t hits the fan [:/]

  19. There are conflicting views out there regarding how to deal with this high speed partial malfunction with a throw away pilot chute.

One view is to go strait for the reserve, the other is to cut away first.

Any thoughts or experiences to share ?
