i have a cypress1 that has reached its 12 year life. is that a bunch of crap or not. why only 12 years. the vigel has a life of 20 years and its cheaper. why is that. you can only say so much as far as name and price. cypress is a great name and any body who skydives knows it. really all i'm trying to do is justify using my cypress and feel safe about it. actually i'm just mad that i need to spend 1200 bucks on something i already have.
  2. i have been jumping with my brother and my dad. we have fifty jumps each and are interested in learning some new fun exits. any advise
  3. not to discredit he main topic of you saving your life but how did you disslocate your shoulder. i may have gone to reserve first depending on altitude and other variables. this comming from a guy who could not find his hacky and spent forever on it. so i know things are always easier said than done.
  4. i rock climb also along with my dad and brother. so, if my dad can dislocate his thumb from a carebeener, than i suppose you can tear your rotator cuff grabbing wind. heal and go again
  5. san diego as in skydive sandiego (otay/jamul/nicholase feild/ call it what you will)
  6. sorry about the lack of detail. like i said i am still new and getting a hang of the lingo. i was in an infinity. i do not know details on it but is only 2 years old. im sorry about using the word chop. i did not get my main out. i pulled my reserve. and "it" does refer to my hackey. and to add to it keep your handles they are expensive :) a lot went on on that jump so if there are any more questions you have or can think of to help others let me know. i dont know if it matters but my main was an icarus 209 and my reserve was a 178, i dont know what brand. wow i just realized i should really know these things. i am not the guy with 2 out but i saw that. mine was the next week end
  7. my name is levi asprey from sandiego. i learned a lot in a little amount of time last sunday. i have 45 jumps and everything is new still. i was trying freeflying for the first time, and it was fun. until i went for my main and it was not there. i am posting this to help you learn from my mistakes. i spent a long time trying to find it and made probably four attempts. i finally chopped. i was under canopy at 1200feet. the first mistake i made is that i initiated my first pull too low. the next mistake was how long i tried to fix the problem. try twice and chop!!!! not four times. i lost valuable altitude. one more mistake was that i tried to pull my pilot out by the bridal. if i had gotten it out i would have given myself a horseshoe and would not be typing right now because of my altitude. luckily there was one more mistake, thats right luckily, i had routed my bridal wrong and that kept me from pulling out my main by my bridal. i made mistakes because i am new and i was rushing. do not rush things you do not yet know make sure you check and double check don't be afraid to ask for gear check or any other advise. know your gear. be safe and have fun
