did any of you people have a delusion that the general public is even remotely open to BASE jumping?

    Hopeless...

Hey Mat, I don't have this ilusion, this is 60% reality here in Brazil, at least around my area.

When I check a possible B to jump, I check the security, and if I think he is maybe cool with extreme sports, I go there and ask him to jump the B.

For sure not the company who owes it, but the security gards, and let me tell, I have 60% OK's.

When the security is not OK with it, I ask the B company, I have 30% OK on this one....

The same happens with mobile phone antenas, we have a plenty of them around the country, everything low, 180-250ft, but you just need to find one with a good landing and ask the security....

For sure the companies won't let me jump.....[:/]

And I don't jump when I ask (B or A) and get a NO, just to show some respect.....

PM me your e-mail and I can send you some cool videos.....

For E's and S's, just go there and jump B|

you do realice that by pin rigs you can freefall 150ft right? would you do so on a velcro?
I wouldnt.. I can adjust the pullforce required to pop my pins, combined whith spectraloops ill pay the next beer if i cant get my canopy out faster than you using bridel...

I like your tecniqe for ultra low stuff, but 150ft aint ultra low SL in my world..

Do a search on "carry on SL" by the weiv of it i think you can use it on your setup and leave no trace:P

No one should tell you to jump pin or not,but some info might be handy;)

I agree Faber, too much work for 150ft....... just do the usual SL....... if you are scared, attach the SL to half bridle....... that's it

my 300sqft circus tent opens great on this......

  5. Hey everybody....
If you guys want to jump in brazil you are more than welcome down here. I can show you some jumps.
Everything here in Brazil is low, nothing more than 3 or 4 sec delay, but great and legal sites.
Our more popular object is a bridge 420ft,Around Sao Paulo area there are always buildings, and antennas, our A's are all 200-300ft range.
Going to north we have some waterfalls (angel is far away and expensive, in Venezuela) all of them water landing, and some cliffs.;)

Let me know who and when are coming, I will try to do my best..... :P

I will be in Brazil until March probably. It is summer here now! what are you waiting for??

Any doubts, please PM me. B|

  6. I did it a cople times...... get to the top when I still had sun light, and wait for the dark.... I jumped.... the security came to me, but they didn't see the jump, just the land, so I explained I jumped off a plane, and the wind took me there......
Result..... 1 hour late, I was completely drunk in a bar..... :)

  7. There we go....

1- I agree, heh didn't need to set up outside the A.

2- directly onto the metalwork, it was a rounded railing.

3- just a main, it worked as it should.

    4- he looped.

    5- No, that's the cause.

6- Sorry for my english, he was waiting for low winds....

  8. # 100 happened on my hometown (Marilia- SP), in Brazil, last sunday, 3 PM local time, while Brazil soccer team was playing at the wolrd cup....

It is a 225ft A, no wires, exiting from the top, nice platform, landing area bigger than TF.
They were 3, first 2 guys jumpers had a PCA from Mario (#100).
The wind was 5 mph, on a 45 degrees angle from back left to front right.
Then he climbed out, did the attachment for the static line (when he was out of the A).He used a knot 1 ft away the end of the bridle to set the break cord.
After this, he checked if the bridle was clear (not grabbing any structure or himself) turned around, and waited for a gust.
The pilot chute was inflating between his legs, and he started to grab it with his right leg, then, he didn´t note he enlaced the bridle on his leg......
He jumped.... and as soon as he left the A, he felt the bridle pulling his leg, and started to kick it trying to clear the bridle, (tryed 2 times before the brek cord rupted).
After this, the bridle opened his pin (Prism container) and the canopy started to be out of his back, the break cord rupted, and he did a rotaion. At this point, he was sit flying, with his canopy on his chest, and the pilot chute pulling his right leg.
So, he started to fly on his back grabbing the canopy (dagger 222) with his hand and tryed another 2 times to clear the bridle on the right leg.
Then he went to a sit fly again, checking the altitude (he was conscious all the time about what was happening, and was fighting against it).
Then he saw he was too low for anything.......

Everything took 3.6 seconds to happen.
He was 23 years old, it was his 21st jump, first static line, I took him to that A 3 weeks before, he jumped PCA, I didn´t, my knee is all fucked up (skydiving heheheheh). He had another 10 jumps free falling our 225ft bridge close to Rio de Janeiro.
He was very familiar with climbing gear, he did a lot of praticing on rope swing before started to b.a.s.e. jump.

I saw the video 30 times or more to write this, and this hurts, believe me. There were 2 different videos and they are destroyed by now. He impacted 10ft from the camera.

What I learned? THINK ON THE EDGE.....during free fall can be too late.

Like Mario usually says: "The risks I take, are the price for my hapiness!"

    See you all.
