  1. Ive got the sizing info. and the right size mask.Had a bad valve, replaced it.Murphy---you know he is everywhere.
  2. I saw that set up,a few days ago,If it sells it will go big on the price.Being that Ive got no exp. w/ that set-up,its not obvious where,if, a console will couple. In a previous post in the wingsuit section,I made mention of mounting the bottles in board,on ny calves.I know the bottles will condense and plan some insulation along with thebottle bags,If this goes after-market below the cru.If it can be kept all mil.spec. I plan to shoot for an exterior bag as shown in the gibraltar pics. My cru has a QD coupler from the tank,a three pin to the mask, and a 2pin ferrule from the console. thnx for the pics.......
  3. My opinion is this,If you want a helmet, for what ever reason it might be,Ie. non lasik-able corneas, may you just like your specs., A helmet that I enjoy, because Iam a dork and like my specs, and dont give a damn Is the Havoc,.Great build quality, great fit, goes over the shades wonderfully,I hope this helps... SFGould
  4. Ive googled gibgraltar, when I dial into wingsuits, and refine the search I only endup with a pic. from above lokking down on the formation.I'm not even sure that what I see is custum bags to hold the bottles, along the sides of the container.Where would a guy go to find detailed pics, and or desciptions?I can get a -20 gentex.Your input thus far has mirrored input from others so far as fit/comfort,and seal go.If I drop the bones on one,the unanswered ?'s revolve around the valve, and reg. What my nontest jumper contacts tell me is the op.sys. for that mask/valve is different, and uses a different reg. Trust me I dont want the headache of building an overly complicated system, this has been head ache enough so far,but the basics building blocks Ive got,the cru-60 being the most important,as i am told the console on both civ. planes that i am aware of,(Tenn.,Calif.)will interface with it.I really want to wing suit a Herc, but thats over the horizon. I'm on the move quite a bit and havent been home in a while.replies will come faster then.
  5. My primary concern with the soft hose is it getting pinched, not so much its durability,it will have to enter the suit somewhere.Even if I block mount the cru to the chest strap,as is the normal configurement for a cru there will be hose flapping around,Im sure the set-up will work fine, but if I can address some smaller issues in the build stage,it will be less mods down the road, remember I will have a limited amount of jumps availible to me for test pourposes, this is on my dime, and I want to start the build process on as close to the end result as possible. You have voiced conecern over the hypia,so I have addressed as completely as possible. Also because that has happened,I can not negate its existance, and must therefore be better prepared, when,if an issue arrises Ive got in the nieghborhood of 300 wingsuit flights.I dont plan on jumping in a bird tommarow at 30k and flying off in to the wild blue yonder. My approach is to build, test, and evaluate at low alt(13.5k)which I can do anywhere for fit,and ergo issues first. Then to T&E [email protected] everything falls right, and murphy makes his normal showing I hope to do 30k next summer/fall.Your caution and diligence is greatly appreciated. The mbu-5,is parts and nothing more,Ibought it for the the three pin connector, the -12 came with a QD.Ive seen the -20 series used with hard hoses, and what appears to be a med. diameter covered hose,I like the over the shoulder lead-in design, and the hard hose design, but that will require a demand style reg,as there is no expansion room in a hard hose. I have no intention of building something to run on multiple components,But I am looking to start off as close to the end result as possible, there by saving time and money.
  6. Hey thanks for the clarification,I didnt see the message indicator.Or the second page that has started, been out of the loop for a few days.
  7. Roger that, and as you can see that has been my intention, from the manifold(console tie in) to the mouth Ive got parts(low pressure). But in the tank direction(low-high pressure)I need parts or a place to begin. To replicate the flow/pressure dynamic, will be the most important peice of this equasion.Iam guessing that some where between 5-15 lpm,at a reduced pressure, say 5psi is a ball park to shoot for. Also the hypoxia-its at altitude while humping a small load (40lbs) heartrate about 175bpm,no acclimitation time,so its doesnt happen unprovoked at low alt.I humped 130lbs 20 miles in the backcountry ,and never had an issue msl-3500'. If I wind up with all mil.spec parts I will still have to leake check, function check, and possibly find alternate mounting methods. To those that have offered ideas- I do appreciate the input, and thank you for your thoughts. All of the Civilian gear is not designed for free-fall,Its function is to supliment a piolt in a controlled enviormnet, not to withstand 120mph winds,The next progression of thought is also that once a wing suit is flying it can be doing 100mpg forward so the wind is now dragging the soft corragated surface hose down ward, another reason why I'd prefer a hard hose, wich would require a different reg. Scott,In your opinion is the mbu-20series(gentex side exhauat, intake) of masks worth a person investment?,so far as comfort, preformance, and overall usability is concerned? Mike, can you comment on system that I was advised you had put together? If its just not something you are ready to discuss thats understandable. Thnx everyone, SFGould
  8. Scott, Heres the lay out- I can do 20k without ox,That alt. isnt a big deal, the 20-25k range is about the limit for a safe testing range.I gotta do the testing before I put an unproven system into use at 30k,there are no two ways about that portion of this. The system also will have to integrate with a console as previously stated. So what lays directly ahead of me in the near term,is still parts locating, whats just over the horizon is trial at a high enough(low enough)25k to provide useful feedback. Also Ive got my own dynamics to work around, and possibly might find something else to deal with. I brown out at alt.when carrying a load, tunnel vision, bright floating occular migrations,....etc,but so no loss of consciousness.Iam building in to this, test and evaluation redundancies to be dead sure the gear wont fail later when it is absolutley needed.....This of course is a lot to explain when trying to locate parts, before a full system is had. What is your opinion of the phantom? What can you tell me about its presure managment sys.? Thnx SFGould
  9. Mike, I full on am working in the direction of 30k.Also Iam well aware of the shrinking time of useful consciousness. Here are the parts Ive got,mbu-12,mbu-5,hgu-68,cru-60p is on the way. The airox series of connector/adapters,have been to this point impossible to locate. The cru is the manifold that facilitates the connection with an ox console, below the cru,(tank direction)I can use anyything that replicates the flow-pressure dynamic that will best work with the gentex valve.Ive been told the you have built a smaller lighter system....any suggestions? A toggle operated reg would be the optimum reg opening devise.Ive had to buy(cheap) the mbu-5 for the connector, and it is good spare parts, however,I really dont like the soft hose its just too easy to get pinched off.A hard hose sys. like the phantom would be great but it has proven to be inaccessible.
  10. Bill, Ive contacted Carltech(mfgr of the phaos) They will not sell to me as I am not a military representative, however they will sell to my aquaintence..........for $7000.00 Yes SEVEN THOUSAND U.S. Dollars. Talk about rediculous. If you have a contact that you can share, man I'd love to have it,cause Im going to need it.Heres some more of whats not being said...I will spend approx 2 1/2 times the normal freefall time in flight,Hypoxia is a real big deal,I climb mountains also, and brown-out when Im working real hard at alt. Im in good shape but lost part of one of my lungs in the Military years ago,my quest for redundancy, quality, and suitability of product is for a good reason. If I dont need it now at 20k,I will later @ 30k,and before I strap on an untried system I need to work out the kinks,I may decide not to go forward to 30k(next year). Iam usuing 20-25k as a starting point because the boogeys usually offer it,and because It will give me enough feed back to plan for more Alt later. Please let me know if there is somewhere I can contact for parts..Thanks Scott
  11. Thanks for the info,The helmet and mask I have are made for freefall use,I may need to have an adapter made to convert from an aftermarket supply to my gentex equip.I will further investigate that approach when the adapter makes it to my premise.
  12. The mail I sent was returned,as undeliverable,if you have a contact # for Kevin I would be greatfull. Thanks, Scott
  13. any leads on a DRMO contact?,Ive found that most gear that has gone to drmo has defectects that could be repaired if a little more effort was applied. That Civy gear is not made for freefall, and is cheap compared good quality mil.spec equip.I know you are the main bird man these days, what do you know about the Gibraltar Jump? What I plan for the gear arrangement(I hope) is one bottle strap to each calf Inside the leg wing, with the hi-low reg between the thighs near the inlet. From what little I saw of the Gibraltar jump it Appears as though a bag was made to hold the bottles on either side of the container,no idea who made it or with what components........Scott
  14. What is the assy # for that setup? twin 22's or twin 53's? Is that item for sale? Thanx for the reply..Scott
  15. Did you hear all the stink that went down over the you-tube vid?A whole lot of griping about proper Ox.gear.Ive been after this for a year and a half, and plan on 30k eventually but before i get there I need to know that my gear is safe and has the bugs worked out.Its only excesive if it keeps me alive every single time without fail. Its not excessive the first time I didnt relize that I needed it.I will be doing a chamber ride next month, and am greatful for the in-put. Scott
