  1. Actually this was one of the softer openings. However, I have had some crackerjacks in the past & the canopy was returned to the manufacturer when it was new for "taming". I recall 4 instructers packing & jumping the canopy (all got wacked) before it was returned. I have found this canopy likes the nothing done to the nose (left in the centre), but the slider needs to be quartered & pulled foreward with the tail wrapped tightly (13-14 turns). Still expect 1 in ever 30 to 40 jumps to be hard. I have jumped the Cobalt & hardest opening I had was only firm. Even a terminal resevre ranks 4th or 5th back when I was experimenting with pack jobs to slow the openings down.
  2. Any ideas on how/why I got end cell closure on ALL the cells during opening? ...see attached, digital stills grab from video (24sec from dump to "normal complete" canopy.....lots of material out, still well above the chop deck) . 1) Canpoy out, cells closed & folded over the front, open lengthwise but still compressed depthwise. (note slider down) 2) Ditto..stable flight, except a little whofty & steep 3) Bit of rear riser action (held deep, Not pumped) 4) Cell infaltion..Yay! 5) Inflated cells...canopy still in slight dove to the right 6 & 7) Release rear risers......."Centre Cell" closure....I have never seen this before Couple of pumps on the rear risers & the canopy is fine (not shown too boaring). BTW canopy is Icarus Beta 145 (JYRO)...inspected after landing no damage to skins or ribs.....Very bumpy thermals on that day.
  3. G'day, I'm travelling in the US & will be in San Diego for while from Oz. I have my rig with me
