  1. All velos aren't the same.
I had one 90 that I could just throw in the bag, and then I had another that liked the outer cells rolled into the center.
The one I have now opens a little too slow.
I would reccomend packing differently before purchasing different pilot chutes.

Also, how many jumps are on your lines? it may be time for a reline.

    Hope this helps

Nah, Travis is my man-bitch. Has been ever since he became my teammate. If Missy is calling him something else, it's because I gave permission (j/k Missy)

HEY! just because I carried your WARM PEE to the bathroom doesn't mean I am yo bitch......

    or does it? :S

  3. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve.
Are you wanting to go faster? Track on a steeper level?
    You could try several things

Bring legs closer together almost touching.
    Bring arms in to body
These will allow you to grab more air instead of letting it spill between the cracks.
Actually arch while on your back. this will give you a different angle of attack.
Every little thing you do will change the trajectory.

Just a few things to think about.
Think of it like this.....All we are doing is pushing air to change how we move across the sky. :)

No, but I know who can teach you that.
    PM for more info.

Thank you for everyone that came out for the coaching. Sorry for any confusion. I was not aware.

One of the saddest things I heard all weekend at the dz was when an old-time jumper asked what the group of us was doing with Ian. When he was informed that we were in a canopy control course, he promptly scoffed at our efforts and stated that "I don't need anything like that." Believe me, nothing could be farther from the truth...for ANY of us.

"One of the sadest things" is a big problem at EVERY DZ.
Alot of times the jumpers you talk about are the scariest ones to try to fly in the air with.

If everyone took a canopy course with an open mind, im sure they would be much safer.

Ian is a very good teacher.

  7. I would like to add another view to this thread.

Many times have I sat in brakes waiting for my "slot" to land, and while scouting the sky for other canopies, I see a "pilot" spiraling down under their 135, or 150.
IMO I think this is a problem. Mainly because they cannot be seeing any other canopies in the sky while they are spinning around toward the ground. They cannot look around, see what traffic they are dealing with, and figure out where their "slot" is for landing.
This was typically on a jump with 14 other people in the sky.
Most of your "swoopers" fly a fixed pattern EVERY time. It is EASY to tell what a swooper is going to do, because you can look at him in his pattern, and he/she will turn about the same place every time.

IMO if everyone followed the same pattern, and treated the parachute ride like a freeway instead of a derby course things would be easier for landings.

    I hope this helps.

I attached a picture of him dressed up as Buzz Lightyear at the Halloween Boogie in Thomaston. Blue Skies Danny!

That is the picture I was going to post tonight when I got home.

I am honored to have known both Men.

no more "you have tickets for the gun show?" from Danny.[:/]

I was looking forward to giving Bob freefly training after spending a weekend with him helping Brie.
