  1. ha ha - sounds like I could have gotten a rig really cheap!
  2. I'm new to the sport too but I'm seeing that the wonderful people at the dz are the same for all skydivers - especially in the forums! Welcome to the sport and to the page with the other newbies! :)
  3. That will be my first boogie - Guess I'm a boogie baby. I'm hoping I'll be advanced enough to actually freefall from the big plane! I'll see you at the DZ then! Welcome to Missouri :)
  4. I'm newer (4 jumps) and was surprised to see how many people have problems farther along standing their landings - I feel a bit better now! I started a work-out routine to strengthen my upper body just to be able to control my 220 better - I'm determined to not let it get the better of me before I go to a smaller canopy. Thanks to all for their experiences - the forums really help us newbies see we are by far not alone with grass stains on our derriers!
  5. I'm amazed at the cost difference at different dz for rental fees as well as with your own equipment. I just learned at my dz I can't use my own rig until I am out of student status territory so looks like I'll have to watch my pennies a while longer! Thanks to all for the welcome - best sport I've ever - it'll be worth the money!
  6. Glad to see I'm not the only one out here - my non-jumping friends think I'm nuts. But they thought that when they heard of my first jump too. Here's to staying insane then!
  7. I've noticed since I started jumping very very recently that everything I buy now has a different dollar value to me - jump money. Am I the only one that looks at a new pair of pants and think "now that'd cost me one jump" and put it back down?
  8. I'm a newbie to the sport too however I've never tried anything like this ever! At my dz, whenever you have a first you are to buy beer - however when we are students, seems EVERY jump is a first for something! Good luck in your new sport! -Valerie
  9. I just started in the sport and am already thinking about my own gear... Anyone want to tell me how many jumps they had under their belt before they took the plunge on 3k worth of gear?
