  1. Well I love this canopy for fun jumping...as soon as I strap a camera on my head or am worried about perhaps having to dump in a track I break out a different canopy....

I got this canopy for free with some new lines on it from a friend...it was a good intro to crossbracing for me, definately need to fly it with rears to get optimum flare power at the end of your swoop...

I will never get rid of mine which is one of the early NZ ones love it dearly and has some good memories with it

RIP PJ thanks for the canopy

  2. This is the second time I have demoed the 103 Velo from PD...the first time I had no business flying this monster of a canopy...the second time with a bit more time with my mentors and some time on an FX I really got the knack of it...the openings can be squirrelly at times...but most of the time they are wonderful...I cleared the pond at the ranch twice on rears landed it off twice and no problems what so ever....long spots can be handled easily with some rears input it trims out really nice and gets you home....

    Thanks PD

  3. I am updating my review as I have just bought a 119 crossfire 2 and sold my 129. I flew the demo for about 2 weeks and loved everything about the canopy, it flew awesome, dove amazingly and swooped really far for a non crossbraced canopy.

this canopy will most likely be the cnaopy that I fly for years to come, and when I had a small issue, the customer support was second to none in the industry.

I am truly pleased with the canopy, and with the company that I am dealing with , Thanks Icarus!

  4. I got a few different demos on stilettos, a 150 and a 170...and the 170 beat the shit out of me so hard that I had to send it back after 5 jumps a concussion and a compressed disc.

on the lighter side when I could see straight on it, it seemed to have light toggle pressure, but harsh riser pressure.

overall, try a crossfire or a vengance before this canopy

  5. I loved my merlin suit so much that I just ordered a second one...got a little whacky with the design and they only upped the price 80 bux! love this company

Thanks to Leland sticking in his order at the same time, I got my Merlin in 4 weeks!

I love the quality but I felt it was tight in my bum...I asked for the slimmer cut and got it and was like woah...thats slim cut...so as a result I have to work for my slower speeds, but at the same time the transitions get zero float :)

    Cheers Merlin

  6. I originally bought this canopy and liked it at first the openings were good and on heading...

then I started playing with the front risers...what I found I did not neccesairily like...the front risers are not predictable...

so my final review is that this is a great canopy for conservative canopy pilots...if you like a standard pattern and want to use this canopy to get to the ground ... buy it, it will server you well... if you want something that will be predictable with front risers, buy a sabre2

  7. I upsized to this canopy from a Pilot 150 and on my first landing noticed that I get a lot more turf surf out of the canopy loading at about 1.3 I found that for the first 50 jumps it tended to pull a 180 on opening but that knocking out 50 jumps in 2 weeks took care of that.

Much easier to pack than the Pilot.

and an all around great canopy.

Note...I have also flown a 210 Sabre2 and a 190 Sabre2 which also were great canopies loaded a little more conservatively.

  8. My first rig was a javelin...I liked it but it tended to shift around on my body even thought the harness size was right.

I contemplated buying a Mirage as my second rig...I really did...but once I put on the Odyssey I fell in love with it.

it is comfy...it stays in place in a great way even when doing a lot of flips and transitions at high speeds.

If you have a problem with your flap staying closed, try putting the flap between the other flaps and not just under all of them and it will stay closed...and also check your closing loop length...
