No problem sonny,, I'm happy to be a voice of common sense... What some people define as "negative" others define as "warning lights".
First of all I'm responding to your original post
which mentions nothing about a NOTAM ( that's brought up by others) hence i called it bandit.
    as to your points, above....
1.Oh so you've been in the sport MORE than a year.. My mistake...That certainly qualifies you as an Expert... And while profiles may not mean shit to you, your profile ( Of course I realize 19.000 jumps is a JOKE... a BAD one, AND an insult to anyone who HAS made 19,000 jumps) dilutes whatever credibility you think you may have.
    2. you haven't seen the plane... but now we know the door swings OUT not Up... Ever try to push open a cessna door and then safely HOLD it open so you can pass through it?? ,,, without snagging something,,,, or having it smash against you as you leave???? I bet Not... Well I HAVE safely pushed a door like that open, outta a c172 3 times and out of a triPacer twice...and safely completed each exit,, wasn't easy:|:| and i had a very experienced jump pilot working WITH me...
    So......better be careful.......:o
    3. your orignal post never mentioned ANYthing about filing ANYthing.. hence my position.
    4. "teach me please".... Not on your life buster....
I'm not willing to teach you a thing... you sound like you know it all already...good luck. don't jam an ankle trying to "run it out" in this "mowed cornfield.."..
If it were me,, i'd file the NOTAM for the field,, but then land it on the back lawn,, right next to the picnic table... where i'd arrange ahead of time to have a cold one waiting for me.....But YOU go ahead and land out in the lower 40......
like I said earlier... have at it.... jmy from NY
ps. I will apologize for the gloomy tone of
my post(s) but I have seen far too many "go go go" type skydivers, ( you Know who you are ) get themselves into "demo" situations or "alternate site " fun jumps which turn out different than what they planned....sometimes with less than perfect results...... I guess I'm jaded..,, but what the hell do I know????...... j

OK....First off you do not know me and do not know my jumping charactoristics. I am not a go go go jumper. I try to understand the risks of everything that I am about to do. Now to answer some of the things you mentioned.....

    1) If I was an expert I wouldnt have come on here in the first post asking peoples thoughts would I? No I would have ahead and done the jump, posted photos and then moved on. I never claimed to be an expert...you made me one. Dont assume or else you make...nevermind.

2)Again..negative. Here is a clue for you. Next time you post make is something along the lines of...."When I jumped it was very difficult to get the door open, and that would appear to be the difficult thing in this situation. Try to spend hours with the plane before hand learning. Discuss with the pilot the ways to open the door...when I did it was hard, we actually took the door off." See now that helpful....not negative. You have done it...share how you did it. Get it?
    3) OK...so instead of recommending it you immediatly took the opportunity to call it out? I planned on it and therefore didnt post on it.
    4) It is this mentality that will make me leaving the place as a forum and this sport as a whole. People come here and ask for advice on things. I am not a know it all, I love to learn...the BIGGEST problem with this sport is true know it alls that dont want to share their knowledge to help out a fellow jumper?

Your posts are not gloomy...they are poking holes. They poke holes instead of offering up solutions. Solutions to problems are what keeps people alive, poking holes does nothing but hold your knowledge to yourself and keep others in the dark from evolving.

EDIT: Post edited out of respect for jimmytavino..My apologies man, but when you make judgements about someone expect the same in return.:)

  2. lol.....I will try not too.

I am going to take all the risks into account and limit them as much as possible.

If there is a big deterant I will not do it...my main concern and reason for maybe not doing it is not wanting to risk my friends pilots license.

  4. First...I would like to thank you for being the first person to post in the thread without some assistance, but only negative notes.

Now to answer some of your questions....
    1) Profile: Doesnt mean shit to me...I have been in the sport for more than 1 year just incase you were wondering. Also the 19000 jumps is a joke...:)2) I havent seen the plane first hand...however after further discussion with the pilot the door swings forwards and NOT up. brings in a problem...but not a huge one.
    3) Please explain to me how it is a bandit jump when I plan on filing all the proper forms to make it legal? explain that to me...seriously...I am waiting?
    4) notam....? Is that the one that stands for Notice to Airmen? You know the one that lets people know that a certain activity is taking place at a given time and date in a certain zone of airspace? Nope..never heard of it...teach me please.

Nope I personally have no experience in spotting...I mean after 19000 jumps just going off the green light I mean do really need that experience?

Next time either offer solutions to problems or recommendations. People who just show the problems without offering solutions are a waist of time...so either offer one up, give an example from your own past experience, or stay the fuck out...seems pretty simple to me.

  5. he is a very experienced pilot....

    There are two willing pilots.

One flies his own Jet, the Leir and his 206.

    The other flies his 206

I can ask him what type of door it has on it. How do I go about noting that Jumping activity will be happening?

  7. Thereis no corn anymore...its mown all flat so its a big field of dirt. WhenI say big I mean HUGE..:)
I was going to remove the door from the plane or see if there was a way to lock it in the up position.

  9. OK..I know this has been discussed before. However...one of my clients not only has a new Leir Jet but he also has a 206 for screwing around....yeah he flies them both.

Anyways..my GF's family lives on a farm with about 500+ acres of corn surrounding their house. Its probably more than that but lets just say it goes for about 1/2 mile in each direction from their home.

I want to jump in the we early morning from the 206 and land in the corn field...lol

    Anyone say dont do it?

  10. I was in the flight room and all over the rest of the complex today due to a private tour done by our very own Derek.....Thanks dude!!!

The flight chamber felt huge to me. I have never been in a tunnel and my concern was the walls and me when I hit them...:P...This is big..room for a 4 way, or 1 solo to bounce of the walls like a crazy person in a padded room.

The place looks sweet..cant wait to be a bumb there..:)

  12. I VOTE the plane doesnt take off unless it has the ability to slide and skid its way to take off.

Anytime you have rotation of something you also have the factors of slipping and skidding. The plane wont be able to take off unless and it skid fast enough.

  15. I personally think the plane will take off because there is the rotational force like stated before. Say the airplane makes 200,000 pounds of thrust and force to take off, the bearings, wheel on treadmill, and other frictional requirements involved, lets say and ALL other factors create 10,000 pound of negative force there is still 190,000 pounds of positive thrust that would need to be over come by the treadmill.

I think the plane would take off in the end and all you would have to do is over power the level of drag created by all metal goods with pure forward thrust by the motors.

I think his scenario is that the conveyor goes the opposite direction.

I propose that we think of it this way. If you have perfect/idealized wheels/bearings with no friction or rotational inertia, then a plane with the engine off would not move (the wheels would just rotate) as the conveyor accelerated in either direction. Since the wheels are not perfect, they would not start rotating as fast, and would cause the plane to be moved at some rate less than the speed of the belt, so it would be slightly harder for the plane to get up airspeed.

The plane cant go anywhere without its motors. The plane gets its drive from its engines not the wheels spinning. Think about a person on a treadmill with rollerskates on holding onto a rope. The treadmill could be going 60mph against them, but if they were holding on to the rope they could still move forward against the treadmill by pulling with their arms. The planes wheels like rollerskate wheels are there to roll NOT propell.

  18. The belt it working against the plane...The plane is facing and takine off north bound but the belt is running southbound...:)

  19. #1: The belt runs from Nose to Tail.

Wheel speed and rolling resistance comes into play, but the plane doesnt use Wheel speed to take off.

The wheels can spin at 5000rpms or 2rpms...if enough forward speed of the plane it self is created it will leave the ground because of lift, not because the wheels spun.

  20. The plane uses the wheels for support and nothing else. If the plane thrusts forward using the turbines the wheels roll...not the wheels rolling and driving the plane to air speed to take off.

  21. My thought exactly...the plane doesnt get its force from the wheels. Its not like a car. I looked at it as this....Wheel speed can be determined in 2 ways...RPM and MPH. The plane uses thrust to move...NOT the wheels.

  23. Imagine a plane is sat on the beginning of a massive conveyor belt/travelator type arrangement, as wide and as long as a runway, and intends to take off. The conveyer belt is designed to exactly match the speed of the wheels at any given time, moving in the opposite direction of rotation.
    There is no wind.
    Can the plane take off?

  24. I am finding balance in my life right now Steve, and thanks for the kind words. I love to hike, bike, and ride my motorcycle.

Sadly I just look at it as this.....When I wake up I look at 3 things, mtn bike, gear, motorcycle.

mtn bike = free and tons of fun
motorcycle = $8 of a grand old time
jumping = $150 + to have some fun, but not the most fun...

I would rather ride my bike 20 times than jump 1 day.[:/]

  25. Wow this thread turned into a retard fest. I didnt post this to create drama...the people creating drama are you holier than thou people. You two are probably the same type of people that flame someone when they come and ask for info. I know some people on here have been in this situation where they just feel bored with the sport, and some of the people in it. I was hoping someone who has been here would post some thoughts, and most did....besides you guys.

Riddler and Keith: Thanks guys...you are two of the cooler people in the sport.

    Later dudes...:)
