  1. no...

but I don't have much money either. Or a family of my own. My parents have enough sense to take care of my cats, but beyond that, my brother would prolly take the computer, and my uncle would want the knife and sword collection, but that's pretty much the only valuable stuff I've got. No point to having a will at this time in my life... but if I happen to somehow acquire a lot of cash, or get married and/or have kids, a will would be one of my first orders of business.

However, I do have something that's kinda like a will, because it says what I want done with certain stuff after I don't need it, but its even more important than a will, because it deals with people, not things. Its an organ donor card.

I have never heard of an incident of a misrouted chest strap but I have heard a story of someone at my dz not doing their legs straps up before they got in the plane (comfort?) and forgetting to do them up when they left.

    OMG! what happened?!

Dude forget the whuffos back home for now. B|

Oh, and one more thing, as crazy as it sounds, anyone you date in the whuffo world, DONT tell her you're a skydiver. TRUST ME. They won't take it as well as you'd think........ B|

hehe... LOL. I am a GIRL (see pic a few posts up). Why does everyone assume I'm a guy? ;)

  4. I've been on the list for about six years now...

a guy who was in my class in college got leukemia. I didn't know him well, but I gave blood to the registry when everyone else did. everyone tried for months to find a match, and we couldn't... he died. However, something like 4000 more people ended up on the registry because of him, so hopefully some other lives can be saved.

  5. thanks.

the website stuff isn't real difficult...

I use Xara for my graphics. www.xara.com
the program is called webstyle 3.1

an easy hint for web stuff is under your "view" menu, there's something that says "view source." and that lets you see the code of the site, so you can see how other people do stuff. that's how I learned.

  6. I'm just going to be up in the hollister area in two weeks for renaissance faire. driving up on friday, faire on saturday and sunday, nothing to do monday, and drive home monday night... just figured I had a dead day in there and could fill it with something fun like jumping out of an airplane.

I can wait til after I finish AFF if that's whats best, tho.

  7. its weird...

I wasn't at all afraid as long as I thought my friend was going too... but now that he's backed out, I'm kinda scared.

I'm not sure if its just that I was scared deep down but didn't want to show it to my friend, but now that I'm going alone, I can admit it to myself? I dunno.

I'm still going to do it, but I think its going to be harder when I can't look across the plane and have someone else there for support.

am I making any sense at all??

  8. I did a tandem with a friend who swore he was gonna do AFF with me... and just backed out.

I really want to do AFF and get my license and all that... but I feel weird about doing it alone! I don't know anyone else who skydives... and my other friends all look at me like "jump out of a plane?! you're freakin nuts!"

    sigh.

Our sport is littered with requests for money to help our fellow jumpers... and I can't think of many things less ethical.

We KNOW there's risks, and we accept those risks. We need to accept the financial risks too.

It's completely unnethical to claim that you accept the risks of the sport, and then turn to your friends to bail you out when you get hurt.

I have jumped without insurance, but I was always eligible for CORBA, which can be gotten retro-actively. IE, you can get hurt, THEN apply for CORBA, if you're eligible.

Keep your options open. Don't jump without insurance.

in california, you only have 90 days after termination of employment to apply for COBRA... at least, this is what I was told when I applied three weeks ago.

The waiver may keep you from losing a lawsuit, but it doesn't prevent someone from filing one. So, you still have the legal costs of fighting such a suit.

If it was somehow illegal to file a suit once you had signed a waiver "frivolous lawsuit protection?" then the waiver might have some weight.

The waiver I had to sign stated that if I filed a lawsuit that I would be responsible for all legal costs incurred by the dropzone, so basically, I'd have to pay not only my own legal bills, but THEIRS as well, for a lawsuit I'm not gonna win.

  11. I went on my first tandem jump on saturday 9/20/03. Before the jump, I figured it would be my only jump. I just wanted to be able to know that I'd done it at least once...

however... when I landed, I decided I wanted to do AFF in January...

and now, I'm thinking of doing AFF on October 5.

I can't think about anything but that next jump.

    I'm completely obsessed!!!!

    is this normal?!

  12. when you leave a job, whether you're laid off, quit, or fired, they should offer you something called COBRA benefits... with the COBRA program, you can pay out of pocket to continue things like health insurance. Mine cost around $200 a month to continue til my new insurance kicked in, but it was worth it to not be without insurance, because you never know what's going to happen. Better to pay $200 a month and not need your insurance, than not pay $200 and end up paying $10,000 because you were in an auto accident or something and didn't have your insurance.
