  1. Not to be an A$$ or anything but this can be dangerous. Clouds aren't in & of themselves dangerous, but you have to think about what it can mean if the FEDs ever saw this. http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgFAR.nsf/0/4042af61b56f7feb86256eec006d3ccc!OpenDocument Sec. 105.17 No person may conduct a parachute operation, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow a parachute operation to be conducted from that aircraft— (a) Into or through a cloud, or (b) When the flight visibility or the distance from any cloud is less than that prescribed in the following table: Like I said, I'm not an experienced jumper, but from a pilot's perspective, you could really get him/her into some $hit if the Feds found out jump ops. were done through a cloud deck. Just something to think about.....
  2. Already being a pilot makes the flare easy to understand. I only have 3 jumps (hopefully more to come), but it really seemed to make it easier.
  3. Glad I asked this because I wasn't putting together the whole exit weight thing. Makes sense...time to get back in the gym.
  4. Ok cool. So a docile 190 would be ok for someone at about 10 jumps if they weighed 190lb then. Or hell, I could just lose some weight, get down to 180lb and it'd be all the better. Appreciate the help.
  5. As I was looking at the incident reports on the other message boards I was wondering what kind of ratio is standard for a new student. I'm asking this because I'm looking into buying a chute that would put me at a 1:1 ratio. Is this conservative enough? On the other end of the spectrum, what's the greatest ratio an expert skydiver would fly size vs. weight.
  6. Thanks a lot for all the suggestions!
  7. Anyone know of any dropzones in the Central or S. California area looking for pilots? Would appreciate anything! I'm also very interested in finding a way to get started in the sport myself. Thanks Matt
