  1. I know there are other insurance related posts, but things are changing so fast, I want very current information.

I'm considering changing insurance from my employer to a personal policy. The most affordable option I've found, though, specifically excludes injuries related to high risk activities. I called, and they consider skydiving a high risk activity. Does anyone have any good suggestions for affordable comprehensive policies or for inexpensive accident only policies that I can pair with the other policy?

    Thanks for any help.

  2. A good friend of mine who lives far, far, away is looking for a good place to do a first time tandem in the Milwaukee or Kenosha areas. The DZ dropzone listing does me little good as I know where neither of those places are. Does anyone have a recommendation of a good dropzone for a tandem jumper near there?

  3. I haven't posted because I don't even know what to say. I will miss his smile, his hugs, his positive outlook on every aspect of life, and his ability to spread his infectious happiness. This is such an incredible loss that I haven't even begun to process it.

  4. Boobies, boobies, boobies. I will miss you so much. You helped me keep my sanity on more than one occassion and I'm not sure what I'll do without your smiling face, many hugs throughout the day, coming in and shutting the door when I clearly needed the break and the the back rubs when I can't see anything but the numbers on the computer monitor anymore. It hasn't been the same without you for the last 50 some days and it will never be quite the same again. You've left a permanent impression on my life. I love you.

Boobies, boobies, boobies. Somewhere, I know that made you smile.

  5. I know there are a lot of jumpers who are also pilots, and I'm looking for some help with a gift idea.

A friend of mine is a pilot with an RV6A who has approximately 300 hours of flight time, a large portion of it is learing/performing aerobatics. Is there anything really cool (such as a gift certificate for a certain type of advanced instruction or a flight in a specialty plane) that any of you would recommend?

Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have.

  6. I know it's on here somewhere, but I have an assignment due in 20 minutes and don't have time to look.

Is there anyone that can give me the citation for the FAR that requires reserves to be packed by a certified rigger and repacked every 120 days?

If you know all the legal citations ala paper style, more the better, but anything will help. Thanks!

  7. I happened to be her son's teacher and spoke at his funeral. I have to say that having been there and experienced that, I'm all for this legislation. There most certainly are responsible teenage drivers, but for every one of them, there are at least two others who don't have the judgment to make the important decisions related to driving. Spending five minutes in a high school classroom on a Monday morning makes that quite evident.

  8. Sorry this took so long, my computer at home was not working well last night. The part of the US Code you find the Gun-Free Schools Act of 1994 is:

    TITLE 20 > CHAPTER 70 > SUBCHAPTER IV > Part A > subpart 3 > § 7151

I don't know how to make a clicky, but here is a link to the appropriate section of the US Code.

  9. I am a special education teacher, and I happen to believe that the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act is one of the most powerful andappropriate pieces of education legislation ever passed. However, I also know that the U.S. Constitution does not speciifically list education as the responsibility of the federal government and therefore it is left to the states.

I do not believe in forced compliance with anything. In this case New Mexico's refusal was not because they were refusing to educate students with disabilities. They were. They were just not doing it in the manner mandated by federal law.

One final thought and then I'll step off my soapbox. If the federal government is going to mandate that states comply with education and other laws, they should fund them. In theory IDEA is a partially funded federal mandate. However, the federal government has never even come close to funding IDEA at the levels which they promised when it was enacted.

  10. At times, both New Mexico and Texas have challenged federal intervention with school law. However, the federal government then threatens to yank all special education grants (not that they fund much anyway, but special education is the most expensive education mandate there is) and the states immediately bacrk pedal.

Actually, New Mexico initially refused to comply with what was then The Education of All Handicapped Children Act of 1975. However, the feds threatened to pull not just their education grants, but their highway funding. Low and behold they comply.

(This is pathetic that I know this, but I happen to be sitting here writting a paper on special education law with a book on it and a copy of the federal regulations in my lap).

  11. I've been trying to finish up school. Have my last class tonight and tomorrow and then I'm done with classes. Just a comprehensive exam and I'm all done.

How are things going with you? Haven't talked to you in forever.

  12. I decided to reformat my hard drive and reloaded all my software. Only to discover that throwing away all those original cases in favor of a little organizer thingy wasn't such a great idea. The product key is on the back. Is there anyone out there that can help me with this?
