  1. No reason why it has to be your life, its a sport, have fun when you have time. Nobody says you have to spend every single day all day jumping. For me when I get to the point Im not having fun a take a few weekends off and do other stuff. When I do get out I don't burn myself out into disliking the sport. I find after a few weekends off I want to do it again, but I will never make it my life.

  2. Pretty cool read, looks like things haven't changed much in 7 years. Im in my 11th year and I get the, " I don't feel like jumping today" thing mid season. I think I will be a lifer because Im not full tilt all about skydiving. I get out a few times a month and get as many as I can while im out but I don't blow off the rest of my life to do it. I try not to burn myself out and if I do I take a few weekend's off. Im never going to be a 20,000 jump swoopalicious world headown record holder, but its a hobby and I still enjoy it. I do about 100-125 jumps a season and take the winter to miss the sport and look forward to the beginning of the season. 99.9% of my jumps a fun jumps and don't need to work at the DZ to pay for jumps so its still a hobby and not a job. Its an expensive sport and not everyone can do it, im lucky I can do it for fun.

So I was gonna jump today, but decided against it because I have a mildly sprained ankle from Wednesday (and because its not quite warm enough).

Anyone have any experience jumping with a similar injury? I would assume that a PLF would be about the only safe way to do it, favoring the non-injured leg...

I dislocated my foot a few years ago 1 week before the Holiday Boogie at Skydive Arizona. Since I didnt want to miss the Boogie I bought a nice brace and made 25 jumps landing on my Ass. I did have a bigger canopy that I loaded 1.1 and could do the landings with no problem. I was in a lot of pain after the 3rd day mostly from walking back after jumping but I did manage to get some jumps in. Looking back it was not smart, one wrong turn and I would have messed it up even more, I guess I just got lucky. Now 6 years later, when it get cold it hurts like a bitch. Let it heal save the jumping for another day, dont wreck yourself even more.

  4. We had a jumper who had an issue with his Spectre with hard openings like you are talking about. He had 5 cutaways in 50 jumps because of retarded openings with this canopy. On his last 3 jumps he had a cutaway, slammer and on the 3rd the canopy opened so hard it ripped the right riser in half. He was black and blue from the hard opening for a year. We blamed the guys for bad body position and all the stuff you would tell a guy from all the hard openings and cutaways. He sent the canopy back to PD for inspection and they did a bunch of test jumps on it for him. After 3 months of testing he told me they called him and told him to pick out a new canopy at no cost but would not tell him what was wrong with the old one. Ive been told wrong size sliders and stuff like that from others. I was not the jumper but know the guy very well and thats what he told me. I am not saying this is the problem but if it where me, I would send it in for a check out.

Hello Guys and Gals . . . I have a new SPECTRE 150 that is giving me frequent hard openings.

    - My exit weight gives me a loading of about 1.57, I wonder if this could be the problem.

    - I have been adivised to try a larger slider size, do you think this could help?

    - I have had about 3 or 4 really hard openings, is it likely to have damage to the equipment, should I have it inspected?

    - Do you have any tips for me to try this weekend?

    Thank you!

I am downsizing and I don't want to be surprised on my first jump. I was wondering if they noticed a slight or huge difference.

To add to what I wrote yesterday, the jump from 170 to 150 was bigger than from 190 to 170, but not huge.

As with any new canopy, plan to pull high on your first few jumps and put it though its paces in clear airspace. The information gained up high on flare technique, stall points, sweet spot etc will mean that your first landing won't be the first time you have asked this canopy to plane out and slow down.

  6. Ok, I think I was misunderstood. The question was for people who have flown both sizes in the Sabre 2 and could give me some input in comparing them. This was not ment as a should I downsize question. I am downsizing and I don't want to be surprised on my first jump. I was wondering if they noticed a slight or huge difference. No disrespect towards anyone, I was working when I posted and couldn't get back to reply.

  7. Ive jumped my 170 in 5-10 downwind many times with no problems and can land it where I want on every jump. I was told that the 150 and smaller take me to hi performance. I went from a 230 to a 210 to a 190 and down to a 170 and only saw a big difference from the 190 to 170. If its about the same I wont have any issues.

  8. Just bought all new gear and have been planning on downsizing since last season. Im not very worried, just got the butterflies thinking about it. I just want to know if anyone has used the same canopies at the same wing loading and what they can tell me.

  9. Hey guys wondering if you might be able to throw me some info. Wondering what I might be looking at going from a Sabre2 170 to a 150. Been on a 170 for about 450 jumps and dont have any issue with landing and flying it. Going to a 150 will put me at 1.5wl, kind of worried about it, Will I be looking at a huge difference?

  10. My question was about a mount that Square 1 is selling to mount the Gopro instead of the sticky mount. Since i didnt get any replay I bought one but did not like the mount, cheap plastic. I bought a Cookie mount for it and like it very much.

  11. I am jumping a pc1000 and was looking for some help. Camera still works but has a tape issue once in a while. I see everyone jumping GoPro's and was wondering is the camera that good. Should I just get a Gopro and forget about the dinosaur I jump or go with the CX and pay $1,000.00+ for a new setup. Is anyone still jumping the Pc anymore?

  12. I know that everyone agrees with me and it has been posted before, but I really cant believe the customer service I received from these guys. 2 years ago I lost a Dytter due to riser slap and they sent me a new one free. Last season I damaged a pro-track due to a riser slap and the sent me a new one for free. This season I destroyed my Viso and they sent me a new Viso II. I asked about a wrist strap that was better than the one that I received with my Viso and Mads sent me a new one for free. I never expected to get anything replaced for free since I was the dumb ass who busted them but no questions asked they just sent me the new stuff. These guys are just awesome, if you want a quality product buy from them.
