Oh, and based on the lack of interest in pre-registration, the R-44 helicopter is a no-go. He wanted 32 people to register in advance to commit to coming, plus we'd have to absorb the ferry fees, and those aren't cheap for a boogie that doesn't currently have a budget.

However, we're still offering $20 jumps all weekend and no registration fee.

Not an Alouette, that's for certain. It's the same helicopter that was at Chester for Skyfest. He won't show up unless I get enough people to pre-register for helicopter jumps.

Okay so, who would be interested in doing helicopter jumps at the Raeford boogie? If I can get enough people pre-registered, I might be able to make that happen.

We've had a change in the free-fly load organizer line up, as Wil Pesek has a project out of state that will keep him until past the weekend of the boogie. In his place, Selwyn Facey will be the main free-fly LO, with Mick as his cohort.

Remember, we've got no registration fee, $20 jumps and at least two planes, the PAC and the Otter, with another Otter on standby if we need it.

When we were there visiting friends, we found that the best food was often at the little outdoor cafes, rather than the indoor restaurants.

Maybe your steaks kept arriving rare because you kept ordering the tartare sauce with it.

What, they don't serve sushi in France?

I still think about him daily. He wanted me on that poker jump so bad, after my cutaway at the the Halloween boogie in '06, that he was giving me replacement parts for what I lost. It bothers me that I too never took him up on offers to come visit him at the Farm, but thinking of his kindness, generosity and his expansive sense of humor makes me smile.

Oh no! I was really looking forward to seeing you at the film festival! You know, like how you surprised us last year? That was the best! Well, at least we'll get to see you around the 20th.

Looks like things are shaping up. I received my first submission for the film festival,
Not only are we not sucking at Raeford right now, but we will most certainly not even remotely be sucking June 27th-28th.

Let's tick it off, shall we?

1- No registration fee for the boogie

2- $20 jump tickets at a time when normal prices are $24-$26 at most places

3- At least two planes: PAC-750 and an Otter

4- Discounted tandems

5- World-Class Load Organizers (Wil Pesek, Mick, Kirk Verner, possibly Andy Honigbaum)

7- Film Festival with lots of prizes to give out, including 1-hr of ParacleteXP tunnel time for 1st place

8- Fun, friendly people and atmosphere...which can be said of nearly all DZs.

I'm sure I can come up with more reasons to be here for this event.

It was a terrible movie. It had no story to tell.

One of the most important (to me) aspects of successful film making is the ability of the story tellers to draw you in to caring one way or another about the characters. This thing was so slapdash that I honestly could not care one way or the other about the characters. I nearly fell asleep during the movie, and that's saying something, as I typically can't believe a (good) movie has ended. I mean, in well-told stories, you literally loathe or despise the "bad guys" in some way, shape or form. In this film, I could not become emotionally invested in ANY of the characters, "good" or "evil". And I went into the theater EXPECTING to like this movie.

I gave it a "meh".

Oh, and I've lowered the film festival entry fee to $15. That's $5 more than last year, but we're trying to find ways to ensure we have a budget for next year's event.

Here it is. Elliot did a great job on it, with the sole exception of the fact that I wouldn't have put my ugly mug on it.

You mean I let an A-LEEN stay in my old house?? Thank goodness we sold that house before the insidious creeping of your otherworldly essence permeated the entire place and made it smell like...shark attacks and rugby.

Congratulations, my friend! You now know more about our political system than most natives-born 'mercans.

Tony and I are in agreement: no registration fee. We take care of our own as we can. I'll cover the costs for the swoop-n-chug and the props, if it comes to that.

And the tickets idea came from Tony. He was going to ask Gene Paul about it to see if it would fly. I have yet to hear back on that one.

Depending on the weather, which appears to be threatening to sulk on Friday, either place would be an excellent choice. Typically, both dropzones have jumpers ready to go on Friday afternoons, so it's really up to you. Both are great dropzones with wonderful people to jump with and hang around.

I wanted to reiterate that we'll have Kirk Verner organizing RW and big way loads, and Will Pesek organizing freefly loads at the boogie.

There's no registration fee for the boogie itself, plus the jumps are $20 all weekend. With prices for aviation fuel rising with other forms of gas, that price will be hard to beat. We're even discussing the possibility that we'll offer blocks of 10 tickets at $20 each to use after the boogie is over if you're registered and jump at the boogie. I'll keep everyone updated on that as it develops.

We've been receiving all sorts of goodies from vendors to use as prizes, swag and raffle items for the boogie, and we're still working on more.

I'm also trying to work on a surprise for at least one day of the boogie, but I can't reveal that until I know more.

This is going to be a BLAST! Don't miss out!

It's the last weekend in June, the 27th through the 29th at Raeford. We're having $20 jumps all weekend and a film festival on Saturday evening. I wish you had more leave to come down for it. I think you would enjoy it.

Peter even mentioned he might try to venture our way for it.
