    This person is trying to use the fake cashier’s check/ certified check scam. Never send money back to someone who sends you a cashier check. They like to send fraudulent checks for more than you asked then ask you to Venmo or direct deposit or get them the overage somehow. If someone is legitimately using one of these methods to pay you, you can google the bank, contact them, verify the check number and the funds and the name of the person who sent you the check. Do this first!
