  1. The more I learn about this sport, the more questions I have. Ive been reading everything I can get my hands on but sometimes its just better to get some opinions. Im in AFP, I have had 3 tandems and im going up for jump 4 next weekend. 1. Its been freaking cold here..... Ive read that everyone uses under armor base layers, but I went shopping tonight and found that for a top and bottom, its like $150. What other brands would give the same type of cold protection? 2. I just got my first log book for Christmas, Im OCD and I want to start it with jump #1. Can I go and write in my 3 tandems and my 3 afp jumps? I have a temp logbook that they have used for the first three and I didnt know if there was some rule. I know all the people I have jumped with and could probably get them to sign again. 3. New or used gear? Altimeters? jumpsuits? rigs? helmets? pros and cons? 4. I bought a pair of football gloves (I was advised that those would be good to get by one of my afp instructors, but they are really really sticky. Any way to cut down on how sticky? 5. Canopy. Im having trouble understanding flight patterns. Any resources would be helpful. 6. I would love some feedback on my first 3 jumps. Seems that my first jump was the best. I think I was flooded with confidence and now as i can start to control my adrenaline, im becoming less confident and therefore, I have less ability to relax, which hindered my flight on jump 3. I constantly forget to wave off as well. Any advice you can give to help my confidence levels, and any other feedback on what I can do better on next time would be really helpful. When im around other skydivers, well, its like everyone wants to help make me a better skydiver. Its a wonderful feeling to be "included" and I couldnt ask for better friends than the friends im making in this process. Thank you all so very much. And putting up with my noob questions, lol. I might be a little obsessed....
  2. Umm, what exactly do you mean? Thats a little scary..... I might be a little obsessed....
  3. Just watched sunshine Superman. I really enjoyed it. I might be a little obsessed....
  4. Were you able to get the hang of it? It cost me $63.00 for 6 minutes.... I might be a little obsessed....
  5. I was in it about 30 yrs ago when it was the only tunnel. You should understand that it is 30+ yrs old. Any newer design will outperform it. Sorta like new gear vs 30 yr old gear. Jerry Baumchen Yea, I only heard about that after..... didn’t realize how old it actually was. I might be a little obsessed....
  6. My daughter is in the national guard and I was taking her to drill which happened to be only about an hour from Pidgeon Forge. So I decided to head up there to the tunnel and give it a go. I found out after I had so much trouble that this was the oldest tunnel in the country and it didn’t reach the speeds of the newer iFly tunnels. Needless to say I felt I wasn’t able to practice at all because the body position has to be different in that one. It did not feel normal at all. The next morning, it’s been a long time since I’ve been that sore! Is that normal? Has anyone else tried this tunnel? Any advice is welcomed. https://youtu.be/UFM6WH05LrE https://youtu.be/T0rNBlyqE74 I might be a little obsessed....
  7. Oh! I didn’t make the connection because I didn’t have the same instructor for the ground school and my flight. I might be a little obsessed....
  8. I smiled because it felt truly natural. I was having the biggest feeling of deja vu. In that moment I felt like they could disappear and I would just fly. I might be a little obsessed....
  9. I remember looking at the gauge and seeing 7500, so I looked away and that’s when he told me to look again. I knew I forgot something as I went to reach back but didn’t know what it was until after I landed and gathered my canopy. You really think the stability was good? I might be a little obsessed....
  10. Im so excited! This past Friday I was able to jump for AFF 1. Ive never felt more alive... More in control.... More free. I had a french instructor that told me I had a near perfect jump and I wanted to make sure he wasnt lying to me, i pushed a bit and he said something along the lines of "Im french, we dont coddle people like americans" Funniest thing I have heard in a long time, and also very refreshing. So I know i forgot to wave off, but can yall take a look and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am finding that most people could care less, if they have never jumped. Im feeling quite alone in my acomplishment. My husband cant jump, my parents wont and my oldest daughter jumped once on a tandem, and she did get the "life changing" feeling, which is fine. It just sucks not to have people to talk to about it without being the annoying one. Thank you for everything yall have done to help me get to this point. :) I would also LOVE to hear about your first jump course!!!
  11. I was raised in Indiana. I know the cold here is not comparable, but i think when we moved here my body decided that it didnt wanna be that cold again, therefore making me a cold natured person, hell idk. 30 degrees at altitude isnt something that interests me but when you find something you love..... I signed up for level one on Saturday and im so mad at the weather! It didnt look like this yesterday and Im hoping that by Sat, it changes. All week its supposed to be sunny and in the 50s. Saturday its partly cloudy with rain and thunder, but its gonna be 65 and only have 10 mile an hour winds! ugh. I dont think naked skydiving is my thing, hell i didnt even know it was a thing lol. I hope its a joke. I might be a little obsessed....
  12. Im about to make my first AFF jump this saturday and I have done a lot of reading about accident insurance. We already have health and life insurance, should i be looking for more? I might be a little obsessed....
  13. So i fell in love two weeks ago and I want to start AFF on sat. My second tandem was amazing because an AFF instructor took me up and basically let me do all the work. The question is.... Is it a good idea to do it in the cold? Ill probably still do it, Im just wondering about everyones take on the subject. I might be a little obsessed....
  14. Hi!! My name is Jessica. I did my first tandem last week and intend to do the AFF course. Trying to learn as much as I can. I have no idea how yall pay for all of it! its like 3k to finish AFF and another couple grand for gear. I might be a little obsessed....
