  1. I was able to upload some images to photobucket. Let me know what you think. Like I said, only 2 jumps on it. Got this one straight from cookie probably less than 2 months ago but this is the second helmet I've had with this problem. http://s1253.photobucket.com/user/KevinAltwer/library/G3
  2. I bought a brand new matte black G3 from chuting star about 2 months ago or so and right out of the box noticed that there was some peeling along the bottom rim by the chin strap connection point. I contacted cookie directly and they replaced my helmet without any issue. So now I've got this new helmet with 2 jumps on it and along the entire length of the chin portion it is peeling. It looks like some sort of coating that easily flakes off. I amagine this was the result of the friction from the chin strap. During my first jump I got tripped up on landing and the front grill part of the helmet must have brushed the ground because now it is peeling there too. I looked at another black G3 that is probably a couple years old or more and the coatings look totally different and didn't notice any peeling on theirs. Has anyone else noticed this on their helmet? I tried to upload pics but the file size was too large.
  3. I'm actually not sure on that. Will have to check the next time I'm at the DZ.
  4. I haven't updated my stats. I'm at 40 jumps right now with an 'A' license. And I'm well aware of the camera rules.
  5. Hey all, I currently jump a Safire 2 179 at my local DZ that I rent from their shop. I weigh about 145-150 without gear. The past several jumps I've been having problems with line twists after deployment and I can't figure out what's causing it. I make sure to pack everything as symmetrically as I can and I always pull stable without any turning. Upon deployment the canopy comes out of the deployment bag just fine but kinda maintains it's compact shape. It's starts to shake around a bit as it begins to inflate but then immediately goes into a twist of 2-3 rotations while completely inflating. I'm then forced to kick my way out of the twist. Luckily I'm pulling at a decent altitude to clear things up before my hard deck. It's just become such an issue lately with that happenening on nearly every jump. I talked with a couple knowledgeable people and they suggested things like making sure I'm leaving enough line slack above the risers when doing my line stows and pulling stable. Nothing has worked. Will have someone watch my pack job next week to see if anything is going on there, but it sounds like I'm doing everything right so not sure what's going on. Anyone have an idea of what I could be doing wrong here?
  6. Hey everyone! Pretty new to these forums and I'm proud to say I just graduated the AFF program and have completed my first solo jump. Throughout the program I've been skimming these forums looking for student stories and experiences from their AFF training and they've helped out tremendously. I cant even count how many AFF youtube videos I watched to try and get an idea of what to expect and learn from others experiences. I've finally gotten the chance to create a video of my own experience and I'm really stoked on this new achievement of mine. I know I've got a lot of work to do and knowledge/experience to obtain to hone my skills, but being a skydiver always seemed a fantasy to me. Now its become reality. I look forward to meeting some of you out there on the DZ! https://youtu.be/k9lLzuYe4wI
  7. I'm getting ready to do my first jump this week. Did my ground school 2 weeks ago and couldn't jump due to winds, came back a week later and couldn't jump because it started to rain. So I'm hoping this week is the week to make my first AFF jump. The thing that I'm most nervous about is setting up my landing pattern correctly and having a smooth landing. I'm sure my nervousness will be in overdrive on the plane ride up. I've done 6 tandems up to this point so I'm hoping that experience will help calm my nerves, but it must feel very different not having someone on your back. Sounds like you're doing good, though.
