At a busy dropzone, there could be several hundred people onsite who are jumping who have nothing to do with the missing person. They may not know them, they likely have never heard of them, they are not affiliated or associated with them. They have absolutely no interest or part in their being missing.

And they may not care. So to stop jumping for these people is purposeless.

Individual choices. Some wish to help, some do not, some will volunteer to search, some will choose ot stay jumping, some will choose to go home.

Not much different than driving by a car accident. If people are already helping, then why would everyone need to stop driving? Some will help, some will not. Leave it be.

As cold as this may sound to some people, I agree 100%
Anyone who thinks this isn't right please make sure you stop at every car wreck that you come up on and help.

IMO, we go to manifest to get on a load. Why shouldn't we require jumpers to check back in with manifest after the load for a headcount?

I've wondered this myself. They use to do this at Carolina Sky Sports and it worked very well. I'm surprised none of the manifest programs don't have this built in

  3. Don't forget your $2 bills....

One of the things I have encouraged over the years is for everyone to bring as many $2 bills to the event and spend them in town so that the local businesses know that the skydivers are there and they are spending money. How do they know they came from the skydivers you ask? Well, we also have some little parchutist rubber stamps at registration so you can stamp all of your money when you check in.

Most banks will have a small supply of $2 bills on hand and they can get you more if you ask them.

  4. In addition to these there are also hotels about 20 minutes away in Ashburn,Ga. right at the interstate.

  5. Ok kids, I'm cleaning up the balloon list this week. Got rid of a few that contacted me about getting on the list and then never heard from them again. Have a few slots left.

Also, the balloon will be there for flights on Friday morning and afternoon (in addition to Sat. and Sun) so I need to compile a list of those that will be there by then. Especially for the Friday morning slots. If you are on the list and paid up please PM me with your arrival time.

If you would like to reserve a slot please contact me via email which is in the balloon thread on the boogies fb page or pm here and I'll get it to you.

    Thanks.

You need permission from the land owner of the LZ. I would get it in writing to be safe. We jumped into my house for years back in the 1990's. The back yard was beside a 30 acre open field and the farmer loved to watch us jump.
We would have winter skydiving parties at my house. The wife would make a huge pot of chili and all kinds of snacks. My dad would drive 8 of us over to the local airport in his van and fly 2 loads in his 180 then drive back after the second load to pick us up again. We packed in the living room, Florida room and basement. Good times. It was more about the socalizing than the skydiving. Of course there was always a good party after the jumping was over.

This is how the RoamingDZ and the St.Patricks Day Boogie got it's start. New Years and 4th of July into my back yard.

I agree with the others about not messing with fuel tanks, but you are talking about putting $700 into a 98 Honda.

What about proseal, an aviation fuel tank sealant? I've used this stuff for the construction of 8 fuel tanks. It works. Just ensure the area is cleaned and scuffed before applying. Follow the directions to the letter, give it a solid 2 weeks to cure before filling the tank and you shouldn't have a problem.

The cost should be about $20 delivered.

Excellent idea. You could glue baby shit to pudding with that stuff.
