  1. hello,
i'm not a rigger. i'm just asking here because i can't get a complete answer in my home DZ. i'll appreciate your answer.

my RSL was removed, by a master rigger (not in my home DZ), after i've asked him to do that.
when we did the modification we didn't send the info to sunpath.

    my main questions is:
DOES THE MASTER RIGGER HAVE TO submit the information about the removal from my rig - to sunpath (either by a regular email or by the website form) in order for it to be LEGAL to JUMP ON THIS RIG?

i know that every master/ rigger can decide if they repcak my reserve with or w/o the rsl - and i'll deal with that issue next time i'll give my rig for a repack. but for now - i'm kinda grounded because i didn't submit it... and i just wonder what's the deal with that.

    thanx,
    Ori Kuper.

  3. thanx for the answer Iwan.
from your avatar pic i see you don't shoot with the kit lens - so what lenses do you use?
now about the learning photography thing ( :| ) actually i think pretty much like you... and i do have some knowledge (from ground mostly) which i'm trying to use at the sky as well, but there are sometimes, when good results can be achieved with those Auto modes, which people (like me) barely believe in or just don't know about their efficiency(not a good thing, by the way), and i still consider myself as a 'newbie' sky photographer... so i just tried to ask here about those methods. that's all... so thanx again for sharing yours.

if you're interested, here is a link to some pics of mine from the sky (click on wanted set out of 3 on the right > click on a pic > use the All Size button) :

and if you'r into photography in general, you might find something in my (mostly ground) gallery here (again, need to get a pic in one of the 4 pages, and then to use the large size option) :

i'd love to hear what you think about those pics...

thanx, jump safe, and clear shots! ;)

  4. hey,
i use the Canon digital RebelXT (350D), still with the kit lens. i used to use it on Tv Mode and 1/500-1/1000 depends on sun at atli, WITH MANUAL FOCUS. the problem is that sometime it gives (depends on precised distance of course) unfocused shots (dahh...).

a friend told me to put it on AutoFocus (I've tried it, was bad) but he just forgot to tell me he uses it with the Sport mode, with that AF...;) well, i'm going to try that one on weekend...

i wonder what modes do other users use in the sky.
    let us know about your:
    1. Shutter Mode
    2. Auto or Manual focus
    3. Focus mode (AI Servo etc.) if Auto
    4. any other tips will be great.

    thanx!

  5. thanx everybody for your answers!
after crashing into the ground 6 month ago because of bad and unknown air+wind+alti, it made me feel much more calm about that issue...
(and god knows why i couldn't think about it by myself:S). anyway thanx again and blues!

  6. hi,
i'm going to jump in a place which is 114meter above sea level, and on some cold days(Kolomna, Russia).
now let's put the AMSL thing aside for a moment and just look about the cold weather fact; i thought that the colder the air is, the less dense it is, and therefore landing will take longer and with a higher velocity then in a summer day.
i've ask some people and got various answers :o

what do YOU know about that situation?
and if i was right - what would you suggest? start flaring earlier or just wait till the end and puuuuull all way down at once?

    Thanks.
