  1. Hey all. Could anyone offer insight as to what the best way to ship a rig from the US (Florida) to Australia would be? Cheapest? Safest? Etc If anyone has done it how much approximately $$$ Have searched but haven't found anything recent "It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye... Then it's still fun and games. Only, someone can't see it"
  2. Thanks John. Your opinions are highly regarded. I will try and get down as much as possible and thankfully I got a bit on this year in the big smoke. I also have made up a training rig with an old harness (sounds nerdy) just to get the touch and feel of where handles and what not are. Skymama I am being "upfrontish" and we have a good financial relationship where I can do what I want and she goes berserk with Internet shopping. Also I was against the idea but said that if I can spend the money on a rig (my dream) then she can get hers (big boobies) which is kind of a win/win... Will keep posting progress (on AFF not the boobies) "It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye... Then it's still fun and games. Only, someone can't see it"
  3. So I'm a long time reader, first time poster. A little about me. I did AFF1 7 years ago as a gift for my 21st birthday. Have said since then that it was the best thing I've ever done. Couldn't afford the time or money to continue though. Fast forward to February last year when I dragged my mate to do a tandem in Vegas. Feeling that rush again, I decided this is something I have to follow through with. I have been booked into AFF since September last year. Sounds like I've back out but actually did the ground training in September and then got weathered out. From there I have had a recurring ankle injury surgically repaired so had to wait for that to come good. Since that has come good and I've got the all clear from the surgeon and physiotherapist to jump, I have postponed AFF once due to work commitments. But from today I am 2 weeks from heading to the DZ and I am no way letting anything stop me this time. Im pumped. I've already decided I'm going to sell my motorbike to get a rig once the time comes. Only problem is I'm due to be married in April next year and with an Irish catholic family it is going to be big. The Mrs is fine with (tolerating) me wanting to skydive but I'm careful with what I say to her about the costs. The first question I'd like to ask on here is after AFF what frequency should a new skydiver be jumping? I live in remote Western Australia so I'm 1400kms (850ish miles) from the closest DZ. Also look forward to welcome from Skymama "It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye... Then it's still fun and games. Only, someone can't see it"
