And what planet were you raised on?

Probably Mars. They're really fascinated with water ice there. For real.

  8. I don't think I've ever had the opportunity to buy Girl Scout cookies. I've had them before, and would buy a TON if anyone ever asked me to buy some, but I guess I just don't know any Girl Scouts. Maybe they're not big in this area?

I wish I knew a Girl Scout. Seriously, if anyone out there ever has a daughter selling cookies, PM me!!!

Well, so much for my sig line...

Eagles don't flock. You have to find them one at a time.

Uh, yeah, they definitely flock in Homer (my birthplace!). Check out the video on the left side of this page to see for yourself.

  10. I will if you will. And it's cold and icy here. I just stopped to take a break from studying, and my train of thought was something like this:

"I should go for a run.

Except it's so cold and icy outside.

I could go run on the indoor track...

But that's so boring because it is only 200m and it takes 42 laps around to make it worth going.

I could just suck it up and do 3 or 4 miles outside.

Okay, I'll do it. *puts hair back in ponytail*

Wait, what was that 5K training plan I saw a couple months ago that I wanted to try? I'll Google it.

Hmm... not here. I'll ask the nice people on the Runner's World forums.

    Wonder what's on dz.com?"

...and here I am. We should really go running. :D

    That's probably a good thing. :)

I wear jeans everyday so its not exposed to my hands or general stuff.

Yeah, I had the same problem with a tattoo that was covered by jeans when it was healing. Maybe just something irritating it--laundry detergent maybe (if you wash your clothes :P), who knows. Like I said, don't be touching it all the time, and keep it clean. I just use Dial hand soap a couple times a day and some lotion when they start healing. Hope it stops itching for you soon.

As for being on the road, I'm sure that if you've got a serious problem or you're really concerned, you could get in touch with a local tattooer whereever you are. Most people in the profession would be happy to help educate you and you protect your new art. (Keep in mind you might get all sorts of different opinions. That seems to be the case with tattoo care.)

  13. Sounds like it's a bit infected and healing. From my experience, if it's just a bit pink, that's (relatively) normal--not good, but not horrible. Keep it clean and watch it to make sure it doesn't get any worse. And for god's sake, keep your dirty mitts off of it. :P

Maybe you could just post more detailed pictures or something. Go into great detail about what it has and who it fits.

I think I was really descriptive in my ad, and I've got TONS of pictures. People don't seem shy asking for them, either. (Pictures of the rig, I mean!)

You're asking $1750 for the complete system. How much is the new gear you want to buy? Best package deals I've seen range from 3-4k, so you're already shelling 2k out of pocket for an upgrade...

Yeah, but I'm not buying NEW gear, I'm buying "new-to-me" gear (aka used). Which is also part of the problem. I need to sell my gear before the guy I'm buying from sells the stuff I want.

I hate being a poor college student sometimes. [:/]

I have no gripe with someone having a price limit, but say in the first email: "I am only willing to pay "$xxx" amount." That way if I agree, cool, we can continue the discussion

This is what happened with the last prospective buyer. He stated his offer up-front, I decided to accept it even though it was lower than I wanted to go, and he still decided not to.

  17. I don't know anything about Photoshop... I'm strictly and old-school darkroom developing sort of girl. (Though I remember when I was describing something to my sister about "dodging" and "burning" a picture, she said, "Wow, it's like the original Photoshop! :D)

Anyway, as long as you've got a 1/2 inch (or a bit less) around the sides and top on your print, you should be fine.

A couple other suggestions: 1) I'd move your copyright symbol down to the lower right corner, below your title. If they eye is going to travel across the picture, you want it to be because it is looking at different parts of the image, not what you've printed on there.

and 2) "Clouds and Mountain"?? C'mon! :D I know the title shouldn't have a lot to do with whether or not someone buys a print, but if you're going to print it on the front of a poster, at least come up with something a BIT more descriptive. The exact location, season, something! :)

there will probably be some new jumper looking to buy some gear later this spring. Have you tried selling it on consignment at SDC?

I thought of this, but I wonder if that would help much... I mean, if I'm having this much trouble selling it at this price, what are the odds of them selling it at a higher price (to get their commission)? Maybe I'll go that route anyway.

Maybe I will try listing them separately. I'm just worried I'll sell a couple parts and not have enough to buy a new rig, and not be able to jump for awhile.

Hey, it would be great for a big guy who's a new jumper. And I've always wished I could have a wingloading above .75.

Or maybe I should advertise it as coming with free pictures of me wearing it naked. B| And I'm getting so desparate, I'm only half joking. :S:D

So, just a bottom box rather than a full surround?

Exactly. Maybe a half-inch or less on the other three sides, to help with framing.

  21. [rant] Why are there so many freaking people out there who want to buy my gear, make me send them pictures of the 3-rings, the BOC, etc., and then after two weeks just completely stop returning my emails??

I keep getting my hopes up that I'm going to be able to get new gear, get it all picked out, and then have to back out on MY seller, because I haven't sold my stuff. And don't even get me started on the scammers. Every time I get an email from one of them, I get all excited until I get to the line about "currently vacationing in west africa." [/rant]

    :(:(:( Sigh.

I can understand this, as well... what are your feelings about the printed frame for, say, poster-type prints? Valid or not?

Yeah, the printed frame would be okay for a poster print, but I probably wouldn't do it an anything smaller than a 18x24 horizontal or 24x36 vertical. I think it just distracts from the picture otherwise.

Also, I think the wider border around the sides and top is unneccessary in that situation; I would probably go with a wider bottom edge with the title and photographer's name. I would still be hesitant to put the copyright info right on the front of the print, unless it was very small and in one corner. (If you really want the date visible for some reason, you could include it in the title.)
