The toll of the anti-vaccination movement, in one devastating graphic
http://www.latimes.com/business/hiltzik/la-fi-mh-antivaccination-movement-20140120,0,5576371.story#ixzz2sNgIVPHE
This is an interesting article with corresponding studies showing that the whooping cough vaccine appears to have become redundant.
The CDC and FDA have known for almost a year that this vaccine does not work. The media sure promoted the 'fact' that those that decided not to vaccinate were to blame when the entire time the vaccine was simply not working.
To this day this vaccine is being administered creating massive revenue.
This surely shows that the whole vaccine thing is not as cut an dried as some have made it out to be.
http://healthimpactnews.com/2014/why-is-the-cdc-and-fda-still-recommending-the-failed-whopping-cough-vaccine/Quote2013 was the year the CDC and FDA finally admitted there were problems with the pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine.
When cases of whooping cough spiked in 2012, the media and medical community was quick to rush in and blame unvaccinated children. The data, however, could not support that claim.
In 2013, there were two major research papers published documenting the failure of the pertussis vaccine. I don’t believe the first one, published in early 2013, received any mainstream media exposure at all, while the second one, later in the year, was back-page news. However, both of these studies should have been headline stories.
The first study reported in early 2013 that researchers had found the first U.S. evidence of vaccine-resistant pertussis. The same phenomenon had been observed in other countries, and research showing that pertussis was developing immunity against the current pertussis vaccine being given to children should have made headline news. But of course, it did not...
...And if one is tempted to think that those who manufacture these vaccines would never keep a defective product on the market knowingly, think again. Twenty percent of all white collar corporate crime is now committed in the pharmaceutical industry, with every major vaccine manufacturer now a convicted criminal. A recent editorial written in the British Medical Journal chronicled how the fines levied against this criminal activity is not sufficient enough to prohibit the companies from continuing to act like criminals. (See: BMJ: Escalating Criminal Behavior by Pharmaceutical Companies due to Insufficient Penalties) -
QuoteWhy are you swallowing the claims of Big Pot without questioning them? They don't want you to be cured. Heck, they want you to stay sick so they make more money!
Pot, kills pharma profit.
here is one example of MANY.QuoteHi, My name's Corrie (Yelland). I'm 55 years old. In May of 2007, I had a heart attack and subsequently had a double bypass. As a result of the heart surgery, for 4 plus years, I have been plagued with chronic debilitating pain from a maligned sternum and post sternotomy neuralgia/syndrome. I was ingesting copious amounts of various pain killers 24/7. They barely touched the pain. I spent my days in agony, waiting for evening so I could try to sleep. I took sleeping pills nightly in a futile attempt to escape the hell I was going through and failed miserably. Within 2 hours of taking the pills, I would awake in agony.
Fast forward to July of 2011. Already coping with 2 spots of skin cancer on my collar bone, I was stunned when I was diagnosed with Anal Canal Cancer. (This is the same cancer that took Farrah Fawcett's life.) Following 2 surgeries, the doctor told me they did not get all the cancer and I would have to endure a regime of radiation treatments. I started researching what this would entail, and attended a intake meeting at the Cancer Clinic. I was informed that "this is the worst area of of the body to radiate", the radiation beam would hit both my coccyx and pubic bone potentially causing permanent damage." They would try not to hit my spine. - Additionally, I would suffer 2nd and 3rd degree burns vaginally, rectally, across my buttocks, as well as my entire "nether regions", and there was a "good possibility" both my vagina and rectum would fuse shut from the burns and subsequent scaring.
The list of both short and long term side effects was endless and horrendous, but you get the gist. I told the doctor, I needed time to think about it. His response was hostile, as he told me I had 2-4 months, possibly 6. He murmured something abut a "death wish" and walked out. One day someone sent me Rick Simpson's video, Run From The Cure. It took me days to get around to watching it, but when I did I was blown away. Here was this man, a seemingly super straight small town Nova Scotian, talking about these amazing results he had seen with in himself and other people taking Cannabis and curing themselves of a myriad of diseases including end stage cancers.
After hearing what Rick had to say, and watching the testimonials in the video, I was feeling some hope for the first time. For 2 weeks I did nothing but research cannabis as a medicine. I was stunned by the sheer number of studies on Pub Med indicating that cannabis indeed has the capacity to heal. I started using cannabis 2 months ago as per Rick Simpson's protocol from his video. (He recommends starting out small, and slowly upping the dose so ones' body becomes accustomed to it, without being high constantly. As a person who hasn't smoked pot since my late teens, early 20's, the non high aspect appealed to me). I had huge hopes to cure my cancer, and embarked on my fight to live.
As well as ingesting the cannabis oil, I topically applied it to 2 spots of skin cancer on my collar bone. Within 48 hours, there were visible changes. In just over a week, the 2 spots were completely gone. Elated, I continued ingesting the oil, in hopes it would work on the other cancer attacking my body. Nothing prepared me for what happened next. About 2 weeks into my regime, the pain in my sternum, as well as the nerve pain had become almost non existent.
You have to understand, I had resigned myself to a life sentence of pain and agony. It had been 4 years of pain that was with me 24/7 and never, in my wildest dreams, did I imagine I would be pain free ever again. I was able to stand up straight, the jolting pain so intense that it would cause me to cry out, ceased completely. I started to sleep through the night and stopped taking sleeping pills. I saw one of my doctors a couple of weeks ago and was thrilled to hear he believes there is a decrease in both the size and number of tumors. I know in my heart it is only a matter of time before I will be completely cured. Even the most - skeptical of my friends comment on the visible changes in me. I have evolved from a pain wracked, hunched over, shuffling along individual, to a vibrant, high energy person. Even my complexion has improved.
Before I started using cannabis, I typically took 10-15 Tylenol 3 a day, along with a smorgasbord of other drugs. Now, in a 24 hour period, a half a Tylenol 3 is all I need. I think it's understandable when I say I get very emotional when I think of how far I've come. Not only has cannabis changed my life, it is SAVING my life.
When researching, I met a woman in Texas diagnosed with the same cancer that I have. Diagnosed at the same time, we felt fortunate to have found each other, as we were identical in every aspect. I. E. same age, same diagnostic procedure, same stage of the cancer with radiation recommended as treatment. She chose to have the radiation. I'm very sad to tell you she died 2 weeks ago, as a result of infection from radiation burns. She left behind a husband and 12 year old daughter. The above was written (March 2012) I continued ingesting the oil on a daily basis, slowly, ever so slowly increasing the amount I was taking. As well, I began filling gelatin capsules with a mixture of the cannabis oil and olive oil and inserting them rectally (Here are instructions for making cannabis oil suppositories). I thought to myself, if the oil worked being applied directly to skin cancers, wounds etc. why wouldn't it work there? Get it closer to the source, get it closer to the problem area. At the end of May, I saw the doctor who first discovered my cancer. I was in the operating room for a non related problem. At the time, I was told he could no longer manually or visually detect any cancer. Elated, for the first time I dared to hope, that maybe, just MAYBE the cannabis oil was working.
Because the cancer was not this particular doctor's area of expertise, I was hesitant to become too excited. I was no longer taking any pain killers and found myself thinking that if all the cannabis did was to hold it at bay, I would consider myself lucky. On September 20, 2012, I saw my specialist/surgeon, whom I had not seen for approximately 6 months. He examined me once, then a second time, and then a third time. My heart was pounding so loudly I could hear the whooshing in my ears. And then the news I had only dared to hope for. "It's gone! I can't find anything at all. If it wasn't for the scar tissue I would never have known you had ever had cancer." I was shaking, looking at him in disbelief. Tears streaming down my face, I hugged him mumbling, "thank you, thank you." He looked at me, "No, Thank YOU! You're the one that did this. You DID it Corrie! You pulled it off, you pulled it off! No doctor, CANNABIS OIL and I pulled it off! I received confirmation that the cancer is well and truly 100% confirmed to be gone.

Quote"Everyday" is a word that denotes ordinary or normal in the dictionary.
The "everyday jumper" is probably someone doing 200 jumps a year or less. "Everyday" is not defined as "you must be doing a similar activity on similar high performance equipment pretty much every day for the past few years to have the skills".
Bullshit, did you try looking in the dictionary?Quoteeve·ry·day [adj. ev-ree-dey; n. ev-ree-dey]
adjective
1.
of or pertaining to every day; daily: an everyday occurrence.
2.
of or for ordinary days, as contrasted with Sundays, holidays, or special occasions: everyday clothes.
3.
such as is met with every day; ordinary; commonplace: a placid, everyday scene.
noun
4.
the routine or ordinary day or occasion: We use inexpensive plates for everyday.

Classic.
I believe whoever is the chairman does not make a lick of difference.
Same as the President of the USA, these are just figure heads, puppets on a string if you will.
Yeah they still work but the major decisions are not theirs.
Placing a black man and/or a women in charge gives us minions the perception that things are becoming more fair and we have hope (hence Obama's unfulfilled slogan and Nobel prize).
QE is simply printing money, printing money is simply inflation.
Fractional lending is a ponzie scheme as are derivatives and many of the bankers get rick quick scams.
It is all going to go tits up and the movements of the past 5 years have done nothing to stabilize the economy.
With low interest rates and uncertainty I see a run on the banks happening sooner than later.
Countries the world around have introduced 'haircut' legislation.
The US economy (and many others) is way too top heavy.
When it tips, who knows. But it will.
A financial calving will take place, the conditions are almost perfect. -
Quotelooks like a group over 6 but i don't understand why you need 500 jumps for this when we do it almost every weekend. this isn't a 100 way
Agreed, I have over 8000 jumps and was more current at speed star when I had 200 jumps... -
QuoteThat seems like an odd statement. Wouldn't a lens with a wider FOV offer more of the 'scenery', more of the time as opposed to a narrower lens?
Quality over quantity, a 170 degree lens (go pro etc) is terrific for handcam and inside skydiving footage. easy to get the shot.
For outside, it is of my opinion that narrower is better.
The scenery does not seem so far away and is more crisp and less distorted. I use a sigma 15mm with the CX760 and the CX is only marginally narrower. I would prefer to use my 10-20 sigma as it distorts less and I could match the width better but we all use the same stills lenses.
I am not photography expert. But I know good framing in skydiving videos, those without ring sights more often have poor framing. -
QuoteFunny thing about that.... I've got that 900-1000 jump per year average, 8500+ tandems, and 13,000 total, and I DO show them all of that. It's required by federal law in the US.
Bullshit. -
QuoteYou've never once maintained your blow switch? Never cleaned it, never taken it apart? That would be shockingly difficult to believe.
well you had better believe it.
I have cleaned it once, not due to any sort of fault but just for hygiene reasons when i let someone else use it for a bit because their (relativity new) tongue switch fucked out.
My previous blow switch (the spa pool type) had many thousands of jumps, no problems. I put like 3000 jumps on it and it as used with a few thousand when I got it. They are simply the best. No metal fatigue to worry about like with bite and tongue switch.
The only thing I have ever done to either of my blow switches was increase the sensitivity with the small sensitivity adjuster screw (ultimate switch) when it was quite new as it was not sensitive enough for my liking. I must have over 1000 on my ultimate switch now.
If you are concerned about spit, you can turn the sensitivity right up and put an eye dropper thingy on the end and use it as a tongue or bite switch...
I use a CX760 with BOSS and no lens, only a UV filter. I like to frame nicely so I use ring sight. Those that do not seem to drop the frame more often, just an observation not a stab at you. Those guys more often than not seem to have the opinion that they don't need one...
They are good insurance for everyone, if you care about your product that is. If you have a dot on your goggles or sunnies, then if they move you are out of frame...
If anyone uses a 180 degree lens for outside skydiving footage in any place with any sort of scenery, then they suck and are ripping their customers off.
Just saying.. -
QuoteBlow switches get fouled from spit.
Nope, in my 8000+ jumps about half are video and all with blow switch and never this issue.
The only reason I have an ultimate switch now and not the old blow switch that I got second hand that already had 1000's of jumps on it, is that I sold my flat top helmet with it mounted in.
Who has had a fouled up blow switch? I have never heard of it.
And OP, get an ultimate switch, it will most likely be the last one you will buy.QuoteI'm just not a believer in ringsights for tandems
I am, the guys that are too good to use them often drop the frame, a dot on the goggles does suffice but is a pain in the ass under canopy.
A removable schumaker (spelling?) and an inexpensive ring site is the best. as you can get the thing out of your face for a safer canopy flight.
My ring sight is very basic, cost me a box of beer for a local engineer to make.
I feel the ring sight is most useful in the door and during the exit phase. a dot on your goggles can be too close to your eye to be accurate enough. -
QuoteReally? 'Pfizer..WE CURED BREAST CANCER.' as marketing slogans go that would pretty much be a competition killer.
That is why Cannabis is not (allowed to be) promoted by the medical industry.
It is a competition killer.
There is already a (Natural and easily self medicated) cure/medication for most cancers, Pfizer (and the likes) cannot make money from that so they try to synthesize what is thought to be the active ingredients and try to flog that off instead.
This is kinda fair enough, but it is long overdue that the cannabis laws were repealed, the do nothing but hurt society on so many levels.QuoteBreast Cancer
5. A study published in the US National Library of Medicine, conducted by the California Pacific Medical Centre determined that cannabidiol (CBD) inhibits human breast cancer cell proliferation and invasion. They also demonstrated that CBD significantly reduces tumour mass.
6. A study published in The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics determined that THC as well as cannabidiol dramatically reduced breast cancer cell growth. They confirmed the potency and effectiveness of these compounds.
7. A study published in the Journal Molecular Cancer showed that THC reduced tumour growth and tumour numbers. They determined that cannabinoids inhibit cancer cell proliferation, induce cancer cell apoptosis and impair tumour angiogenesis (all good things). This study provides strong evidence for the use of cannabinoid based therapies for the management of breast cancer.
8. A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) determined that cannabinoids inhibit human breast cancer cell proliferation.

QuoteWhy stop doing it right? For what, more $$? More jump #'s?
[Unsure]
Energy, time, and keeping your job.
As most are paid by the jump, they want to be able to get as much in as possible.
Busy DZ's are manifested accordingly, so if you re fucking around too much you are leaving the plane turning and it is costing valuable time and resources.
There is no need for a 30 minute briefing, in fact most people could care less, they just want to jump. Also giving too much information waters down the important factors.
I find the less you tell them the better they do. Primacy in learning, teach the arch and leave the landing briefing for under canopy.
less information, less confusing = less chance of them peaking out and doing something stupid. -
QuoteAgreed. From the description given it sounded like a competitor to a PD Storm, and since I was looking at buying a Storm I decided to see what a JVX is in comparison.
From the website: "The JVX is the first competition swoop canopy designed for rear riser flight!"
How is something which is a step up from that an everyday canopy? Unless you like taking a Formula 1 car to work and to get groceries.
If you guys are gonna be all semantic, the 'everyday' jumper is someone that jumps everyday, like myself and everyone I work with that do over 1000 jumps per year and on high performance parachutes.
Not a weekend warrior.
I have a JVX, and I am on the list for a Petra, but I aint gonna run my Petra for doing work jumps for a couple of reasons (lines and loading)...
Therefore, this canopy is actually designed for the 'everyday' jumper, but not for the 'every couple of weeks if the weather is perfect' jumper...
Capisce? -
Quote?? You seem to be sort of all over the place here.
You seem like a smart guy. Do you really fail to see a connection with those three subjects?
-lack of nutritional information
-overprescirption of medicine
-overprescription of vaccines
Do you really beleive the big pharma would rather we all ate better and did not need to use their products?
I am not completely against pharmaceuticals they are essential in the modern world, but they are in the business of making money at the end of the day. If they truly were in the business of making everybody healthy, then that would not be a very good business model, would it?
To suggest that big pharma does not have it's hand in the medical education process would simply be naive, would it not?
We live in a world where lobbyists have more influence than voters and politicians alike. -
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/07/02/new-study-finds-doctors-are-massively-overprescribing-drugs.aspx
Deaths from prescription drugs are more common than traffic deaths now. -
QuoteHowever, when I train a tandem I always show them all of the components of the rig, I show them how it works and why. I go over airplane emergencies, I inform them how we spot, I give them an altimeter and train them to pull. I inform them on freefall skills, how to steer, control and flare the canopy.
Which is probably one reason why you have 3000 jumps in 11 years.
If you did 1000 jumps a year I can guarantee you would not do all that.
You save that for the second jump. -
QuoteThey do know about nutrition. People are generally given pills and medications for everything because they demand them for everything.
Rubbish! I agree that people may demand pills but doctors are not taught enough about nutrition and they seldom use nutrition in their treatments.
There are of course exceptions to the rule but generally this is the case.QuoteResults:
A total of 106 surveys were returned for a response rate of 84%. Ninety-nine of the 106 schools responding required some form of nutrition education; however, only 32 schools (30%) required a separate nutrition course. On average, students received 23.9 contact hours of nutrition instruction during medical school (range: 2–70 h). Only 40 schools required the minimum 25 h recommended by the National Academy of Sciences. Most instructors (88%) expressed the need for additional nutrition instruction at their institutions.

That is about as scientific as an episode of myth busters.
I find it peculiar that my questioning certain vaccines has been translated into, 'I am not going to vaccinate'. This is BS
I want what is best for my children and listening to the medical industry is often not the best thing for anybody.
If it were then doctors would know about nutrition and we wouldn't be given pills and medications for everything, only when we need it.
I (we) have decided to study further and talk with other parents that have been through the same decision process.
I believe the current schedule is not a healthy one at all and some of the side effects are probably not from the vaccines themselves but the combinations of them...
I think we will end up using some vaccines and not others and space them out a little more.
Determining this will take some considerable time to study.
We have a lot of time to do this.
All in all I thank everyone that has contributed to the conversation on both sides of the spectrum. -

yeah I did it showed that 1 in 50 children of that age bracket get autism. Someone insinuated that was rubbish.
many vaccines are made in eggs, though the machinery to produce large quantities in the shortest time possible is expensive and technical, the process is quite crude.

This high percentage of individuals having long term immunity has been compromised by mass vaccination of children which provides at best 70 to 90% immunity that is temporary and of unknown duration—shifting chickenpox to a more vulnerable adult population where chickenpox carries 20 times more risk of death and 15 times more risk of hospitalization compared to children. Add to this the adverse effects of both the chickenpox and shingles vaccines as well as the potential for increased risk of shingles for an estimated 30 to 50 years among adults. The Universal Varicella (Chickenpox) Vaccination Program now requires booster vaccines; however, these are less effective than the natural immunity that existed in communities prior to licensure of the varicella vaccine.” - See more at: http://www.vaccinationcouncil.org/2012/07/05/herd-immunity-the-flawed-science-and-failures-of-mass-vaccination-suzanne-humphries-md-3/#sthash.1w0E13zg.dpuf

QuoteQuoteI keep hearing, 'there are no studies linking vaccines to autism' and there is only one study linking vaccines to autism' etc.
No, you don't. If anything, you're cherry-picking to try to score a debate point. Weak.
Post # 15 Southern man "The one studied which said they did has been totally discredited."
Post # 18 Southern man "There are dozens of studies showing no relationship between vaccination and autism. There is one study showing a relationship, the Wakefield study. That one was based on fraudulent data, was withdrawn by the Lancet, and the researcher was stripped of his medical license."
Post # 23 Southern man "There are literally no studies except the Wakefield one which show any link between vaccines and autism."
post # 31 jclalor "The idiot that started the autism and vaccine link bullshit has been totally discredited"
post # 40 Southern man "So you posted incorrect and misleading information, still have no scientific studies to back up any of your suspicions"
...
all of these are addressed in the video posted in the original post.
These people have conducted serious studies and have found links.
others have conducted serious studies and found no link.
I really do not see how this subject is not open to discussion and it really is quite sad and amusing at the same time to see adults get so hung up about other people having a difference of opinion.
I have never once stated that I am not going to vaccinate, I have said we are considering it, we are considering not vaccinating as much as we are considering vaccinating.
It is good to see such enthusiasm but for Pete's sake why do some people have to be so damning. -
QuoteThe appallingly poor judgment of people on the anti-vaccination side of this debate is shocking.
Actually I find it is pretty even.
I keep hearing, 'there are no studies linking vaccines to autism' and there is only one study linking vaccines to autism' etc.
But this is even considering I posted a very educational video on the very first post of this thread with the doctors and scientists that have conducted these studies.
The same banter continues so I post a bunch of links to such studies...
Then a stupid argument that is not related starts...
Whether or not the studies are conclusive in either direction, they have been done. It seems to me the pro vaccine fraternity are the ones that are not wiling to accept the results of studies.
This is not a conclusive subject on either side and I am inclined to believe a compromise is the best solution.QuoteMy kids are grown now. I don't have grandchildren yet, but once I do, please please keep your un-vaccinated kids them the hell away from them.
So you have been vaccinated for all the things that the kids are vaccinated for these days?
What are you protecting them from if an un-vaccinated child is a threat to them..?
If you can be vaccinated and still be at risk from that same disease/infection then what is the real point of vaccinating?
Some have suggested that my mind is well and truly made up, this is not the case. I am just interested in as much information as possible. Bickering can be amusing but it can also show who is bigoted and who is not.
I think I might focus my research into which vaccines are more important and proven than others. -
I think it is important to note that smoking cannabis is not a method suggested to cure ones ailments.
Ingesting refined oil, vaporizing and eating food prepared with cannabis is however.
To vaccinate or not to vaccinate?
in Speakers Corner
If one person or a group of people in one faction is wrong or makes a mistake then that whole faction is incorrect?
I clearly stated there were studies, How one chose to report them does not in any way remove any credibility from those studies.
This is very significant when one is looking into vaccines.
