  1. It would be my dream to be invited on a vertical world record. Unfortunately, I don't live in socal, eloy, or deland so even if I built the skills, how do you build a reputation to be invited? Anyways, I thought if any of the record guys still read this forum, it would be awesome to hear how you got the invite.
  2. I would like to retract my post…..being introduced to the flashlight is now the nicest thing someone has done for me
  3. I would like to point out: Yes this is now 9 pages of bashing from people who are not familiar enough with bones or the event to be qualified to voice their opinion of him. Which is pretty much way forums are popular in the first place. None one lessons to me in person. This thread would have never made it to 9 pages, if bones would have made public statement. Said his side of the story. I believe the flame burns on because it is personal to everyone . I don't think there is one person who reads this forums that would not kill be talented enough to make head down record, and would love the opportunity. So basically bones disrespected everyone, but disrespecting such an honored opportunity.
  4. I started jumping a mid to large size DZ. I was very intimdated (still am a little) because I was a fresh off my A license. I had enough tunnel time to start sit flying, but I was doing solos. One of the cool kids put a jump together with all the other cool kids. (little did I know, the plan was for me to fly base and let them carve around me lol). I was so nervous, that I forgot all sit skills I had learned and the jump turned into the flocking 'chase the newbie'. Which lead to me landing off. The jumper that set this jump up actually turned a 180 from the DZ under canopy and bleed altitude too land off with me. I couldn't believe it. As a newbie, that felt awesome. The second nicest thing was after getting my A signed off in deland, I was siting outside drinking a beer by myself. (thats not my home DZ) I am a shy guy, and had no one to talk to. This guy named John LeBlanc came up and bought me a beer. Turns out he kinda a big deal at PD. He talked to me about canopy flight for over an hour. Being a newbie, I didn't understand a thing he said (way over my head), but I keep nodding. He also offered to give him a tour of PD during a time they don't give tours because it was the only way it would fit my schedule (did do it, and kicking myself for it). And thats why there is a PD sticker on the back of my car! 3rd is all the packing tips, I have received. I have lots of people to thank for that.
  5. Am I the only one disappointed that there is not video of him in the fetal position in the hanger?
  6. I would love to see tunnel flying become more of a competitive sport. So today, while trying to get some work done, but distracted by football, and also distracted from football by drop zone.com (work isn't getting done). I was thinking of how to make tunnel flying fun to compete at on an individual level. How much fun would it be to have a speed tunnel competition in which you had to touch different points in the tunnel and do tricks (flips, 360, etc)?
  7. Putting aside the elements of putting together a team. What does it take to get to VFS competition level. It would definitely be a dream of mine, and now that there is 2way, that dream seems some what possible. But today I stumbled upon azarsenal team member profiles, and each member has 7000+ freefly jumps and 1000+ tunnel hours. Which is kinda a lot. (7000*$20 jump) + (1000*800 tunnel hour) = $940,000 So my question is, what does it take to be at a VFS level that wont getting you laughed out of nationals. Has anyone competed with less then 1000 freefly jumps and less than 20 hours in the tunnel? I know there are alot of ‘depends on’ answers, but I would like to hear some stories about ‘weekend warriors’ progressing to a competitive level. How did they get there without ‘cutting away.’
  8. I just wanted everyone to know that i have the best dropzone screen name ever created
