Yea sorry maybe should have also put - I'm currently still a "student" but am going to Cyprus in a few weeks on a jumps course so should come away with - or at least very close to - my B Licence and then have another 2 week course planned for the day after Cyprus so either way - by mid - end September I should be B Licence. Just thought it'd be something different then the clear ones but I guess there's a reason they are the way they are. Cheers

I've recently got my hands on a second hand Bonehead Mamba which has been jumped about 12 - 14 times! The helmet itself is pretty much spankers but the lens has got some damage to it from - I assume - tunnel time. Looking around at some replacements and was wondering - is it possible to get lenses for the helmet that are either dark/tinted or mirrored? Jus thought it'd be different to the usual clear ones...?

Afternoon all, I know there are tonnes of posts like this already on DZ and I apologise for adding another one.... Soon I will be going over to Cyprus on a course and - all been well - getting in many many jumps and finally - after been weathered off repeatedly in the UK - gaining my A Licence. By the time this happens I'm going to be getting close to 20 - 25 jumps and, by the end of the course creeping up towards my B Licence. Slowly, I want to start getting my own kit together and was wondering what kit you would all recommend? I like the idea of full face helmets but know I can't even think about them until B Licence. This might be a stupid question but can you not just take the lens out of a full face and use it before a B Licence? An instructor at Netheravon (UK) has a Bonehead MXV which I like the look of but know that's a camera helmet. Are there any other helmets which have the chin cup like these? Obviously, looking good saves lives so with that, does anybody have any recommendations? Cheers!

Oakley Scalpel Sunglasses for Skydiving?
MEredith714 replied to MEredith714's topic in Gear and Rigging
Yeah I was careful when I chose these to make sure they were a close fit to my face both top and bottom around my eyes. After looking around a little more on DZ I saw a few people saying the same thing about eye contact with the instructor before qualifying which is understandable... What would you recommend I look for in a pair of goggles? I chose the Oakleys due to their fit, polarised lenses and been impact resistant etc.... is that a similar list of criteria for the goggles? -
Oakley Scalpel Sunglasses for Skydiving?
MEredith714 replied to MEredith714's topic in Gear and Rigging
Morning all, I wonder if anyone can help.... I've recently purchased a pair of Oakley Scalpel sunglasses and wondered if these would be suitable for Skydiving? I bought them with the intention of wearing them for most sports I do as they are close fitting, rubber grip sides and polarised lenses. I have checked and they are ANSI Z87.1 safety standard so are deemed safe for sport and 'smash/impact resistant'. Has anybody used these glasses - or ones like them - for Skydiving? How did you get on? Cheers!
