spideysa 0 #1 November 18, 2002 I have been having a recurring problem with my sitfly for months now and I am getting really frustrated. I jump at a dropzone where there are very few experienced freefliers that I can get advice from. Pretty much every one has tried to offer me some help, but nobody's advice seems to have helped too much yet. I am hoping that someone on this forum will be able to give me some solid advice. Essentially, I am finding that I cannot get the horizontal mobility in my sit that I want. I am very stable, but have an incredible amount of trouble generating forward movement. I think I know what the problem is. Looking at video footage of myself, my feet seem to be magnetised to each other, creating a diamond looking shape from the front. It also seems that this position forces my feet to be under my bum a little which gave me an inherent backslide. Obvioulsy, this automatically limits any forward movement I mange to generate. I'm almost positive that if I mange to get my feet wide and square, my problem will almost solve itself! The problem is that as hard as I try, I don't seems to be able to get them apart. Even on dives where I think I've finally cracked it, I look at the video and the position is still there. I also think that because of this bad habit, I have strarted trying to fly on my arms. The result is a position that is really difficult to move around in. Please can someone try offer me some advice! I have been offered so many different ideas from a really small freefly community but nothing has helped yet. Maybe there are some drill dives I can try to force my position right. I thought that maybe if I try to get my sit right with my arms folded, this will force me to learn to fly on my feet and force my feet wider and square... Any ideas are really welcome at this point!!!
Kirils 1 #2 November 18, 2002 Do a search on this forum. There is a lot of great sit advice. Also, try flying from a cross-legged indian style or the VRW stable position advocated by Pat Works. I learned through incremental steps, starting with the VRW stable. Good Luck!
bobsoutar 0 #3 November 18, 2002 To go forward you first have to stop going backwards. Check the postings on "Looking for sit advice" - plenty of good stuff there.
