FlyingJ 0 #1 November 25, 2009 Hi all, I'm working on downloading a pile of waypoints off my Garmin Map60CS gps unit to save as a shape file so it can be opened and used in ArcMap. I've used DNRGarmin for years but for some reason the working relationship between my GPS and DNR Garmin has ceased to be cordial and none of my computers loaded with the software will recognize my GPS. Anyone know of some other free software out there that will allow me to download the data and save it as shapefiles? I've found several that will store everything for you, etc. and allow you to download and upload points, routes all within the pretty little program, but none of them allow me to save the raw data. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving! jasonKilling threads since 2004.

FlyingJ 0 #3 November 26, 2009 I've admittedly never used Mapsource as I always used DNR Garmin for transfering data, but when I did look recently I didn't see an option for saving data as a shapefile I could email to someone to use in ArcMap. If you (or anyone else!) knows how to do that in Mapsource I'd be a happy camper since I already have the software!Killing threads since 2004.
virgin-burner 1 #4 November 26, 2009 dont really know what you mean by shapefile, but there's an option, something like data - download from gps; that would export your waypoints to some sort of file..“Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S.
