ovambo 0 #1 August 4, 2010 I am new to skydiving...just completed my AFF #9 solo jump. So glad I discovered this sport in my early 50's!!! Looking for advice on which type of helmet to buy..open face or full face?
Hvance 0 #2 August 4, 2010 Welcome welcome! Plenty of opinions on the helmet discussion, so I'll let more experienced hands address it. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.
grannyinthesky 0 #3 August 4, 2010 Welcome to a wonderful world. Early 50's, huh? I started at 57. In the 2 1/2 years since then I have made 682 jumps and everyone is better than the one before. Where do you jump? If they have a gear shop, try on both kinds. The closed helmets make me feel claustorphobic, so I jump with an open face helmeet, even in winter in Idaho! eric111996 0 #7 August 10, 2010 I started at 44. I love my BoneHead Mamba Full face.I opened the visor under canopy the first couple of times i jumped with it but now i don't even notice it.I no longer have to take my helmet off when I notice my goggles are still on my chest strap. ovambo 0 #8 August 10, 2010 Thank you! I was actually leaning towards the Mamba. I hope to jump as long as possible into fall (October maybe even November ) here in Pennsylvania and I think a full face should help with the cold as well. Trying to do that to get to my A license before winter!
