I love towers, but I do not know enough about the sport yet to try it I use this site to find, and find out more about towers in my area. You just enter in your state, and it gives you the listings of tower heights(in meters), owner, type(free standing ect), and county. The only thing is you need a gps to find it. It is like a brochure for towers :)

Yeah Berkana is great.

Another helpful tool is the area sectional and terminal air charts.

I still don't trust them completely so I take a laser rangefinder with me to every noew object I scout out.
