It is skydiving. It is not parachute landing. lol

I know Luke very well. He's a brilliant stunt engineer and an amazingly talented guy. I have no doubt he and Andy will nail this one.

I guess we now know how this went. Will Luke try to get his certificate back after one year?

  2. I was a junior in high school when this happened. My father and I went to Antioch that day for an ultralight gathering.
    I didn't learn to skydive until 1994.
    Ok, what I saw.
Both my dad and I saw the whole thing from exit to impact. She was not wrapped in her parachute. It was a streamer static line. Now this seemed like it took a long time but I imagine was just a minute or so. We watched her pulling her lines. She was able to get above her canopy and literally was trying to open it by hand. When she hit the ground, I'd say 200-300 yards from us, she we spread eagle on top of the parachute. I still remember the thud she made and how she bounced like 10 feet high.
I will post more in a few.

  3. The instructor didn't, in a way, force her out the door. Search for the Today Show video and you can hear from her the story. You are all judging the instructor without knowing the full story. Video does not always reveal everything that was going on at the time.

  4. The reason we pay twice what other countries pay is lawyers, lawsuits, threats of lawsuits, and the courts. Think about it. There are more students in law school right now in the USA than there are lawyers.

  5. About 1982, when I was a kid, I witnessed a streamer at Antioch, CA. I still remember as though it were yesterday. The woman survived. Does anyone else remember this incident?

  6. Yes, that sounds like the canopy. Another jumper owned it and talked me into trying it.
Another lousy canopy was my first, and so far only, reserve ride a Hobbit. Opened nice but I didn't like the landing characteristics. But only used it once so maybe it was just me.

  7. The main things an examiner is looking for in a commercial pilot applicant is mastery of aircraft control and good judgment. Flying must be second nature for a commercial applicant.

  9. I've been Ed's contact on the outside. He called me today and said they offered him 8.8 years plea. He says the'll do better because of costs and that his crime was non-violent. If anyone cares to here any updates in the future, let me know and I'll post them here. By the way, my name is Dave and I'm the jump pilot at Skydive Cloverdale. Take care, all.
