  1. Get a properly sized container with a properly sized reserve and you will like your purchase. Get it with the Boost option also. On my reserve ride I thought my reserve didn't come out because it happened so fast thanks to the boost.

  2. Blis, I went with the two soft handles for an unique reason. I am in the Navy and I take my rig on deployment with me. When you walk around an active duty ship there are LOTS of snag hazards that will grab a metal reserve handle in a heartbeat. Pillows don't get caught. Now that I won't be on ships anymore I might reverse my opinion.

  3. Ok, I am probably missing the obvious but I literally have no idea what I am supposed to use the USPA Sigma application for. Is there a mobile app for it that I can use to show my USPA card on my smartphone? Can I even show proof that I have a current USPA license from my computer? I thought that was the goal but when I look at my "merits" it doesn't tell me the dates that my license is valid for.

  4. When I was stationed in Sicily I specifically had to have Italian insurance (I was fully covered for medical by the military). It was explained to me that it was liability mainly in case I landed off and damages someone's property and such. I purchased it at the local post office. I think it was like 15 Euros for one year.

  5. Finally got a chance to jump my Brilliant Pebbles and it worked like a champ. Showed it to some other jumpers at the DZ and they were blown away by it. Awesome product!

  6. Thanks Gowlerk, I thought that was the case but wanted to ask.

  7. In my journey to get my Senior rigging certification I finally got a chance to see a Skyhook. Quick question, what purpose does the 4 lbs red rigging thread serve on the skyhook? Thanks

  8. Firemedic, thanks, that was going to be my guess but I thought I was missing something.

  9. Ok, I have just started working on my 20 pack jobs to apply for my Senior Rigging rating. I jump a wings container and I have watched the Inspect and Repack of my reserve a couple of times. I do not have the Boost system (thinking about adding it) but I have read the manual from the Wings site. I see how the RSL will use the Boost to pull out and deploy the reserve and I see how the Boost will disengage if the reserve is pulled without the cutaway happening. What I don't understand is how the Boost system will detach the opposite riser (i.e., the starboard riser since the RSL is connected by a snap shackle to the port riser). Does it actually disconnect the starboard riser? Thanks

  10. I love seeing how many jumps I can get when my battery indicator is 0. I always wear two altimeters plus an audible so not a safety concern. I kind of feel like Kramer on Seinfeld we he wanted to see how far the car would go on E.

BTW I carry 2 altimeters because at least once out of every 25 loads someone forgets their altimeter.

  11. Two years ago I got a brand new Sabre 2. Packing a brand new ZP canopy will give you many opportunities to expand your vocabulary in ways that only a Sailor could appreciate. After about 5 VERY bad pack jobs I switched to Psycho packing. Never had a problem after that. I have since bought another new canopy and started right away with Psycho packing and absolutely no problems. You might want to check out that solution.

  12. Have to admit I really like my fully magnetic bag. I tried the same thing as the video but I fully closed it before trying to shake it out and it would not come out. Additionally, Brad provides great customer service.

  13. I use a psycho pack on mine and I have discovered that if I have the slider all the way pushed in and the slider grommets are about 7" from the trailing edge I have very nice opening. The closer the grommets are to the trailing edge the more brisk the openings become [:/]

  14. John, you are spot on. I always do this and now that I am on my second rig (this one with a pillow instead of a metal D-ring) I am glad I do. The pillow definitely pulls a little bit different than the D-ring.

  15. I hear you on the "searching for a heading on openings". I started psycho packing my Saber 2 specifically to treat the nose. Roll the four outer cells away from the center cell which opens the center up. Push the slider in all the way. The result is the slider and the center cell catch the air first. Very rare to have an off heading opening now. Don't pay attention to the slider and you will be reminded how important it is to pay attention :o

  16. Cari, love your post. Like most people (I guess) I am always thinking what next. Then I think have I gotten everything out of my current canopy yet? Reading your post lets me know I have so much more fun ahead of me. Thanks

  17. I have the Chuting Star magnetic keeper on my Wings rig. Had to cut the elastic band and sew two loops on it to put a bungee chord through it to lengthen it. Just ran the bungee under the top of the reserve flap and tied it off. Works great and you don't have to open the reserve to do it. PM me if you want a picture.

  18. Blis

In my limited experience, the worse it looks the better it opens. So, stuffing is totally ok as long as lines are tight and slider is tight against grommets...

Blis, you are so right. I have had a couple of pack jobs that on the way up to altitude I do a couple of extra EPs in my head because I am sure I am going to need them. They always turn out to be the sweetest openings.

  19. I took a four year break when I was stationed overseas. I was at 55 jumps. I renewed my license and did all of the SIM questions online at the USPA website. That had me ready to do the refresher jump. It was a much fun as I remembered and I was glad I got back into the sport B|
