  1. This is probably out of place, but I want to get this off of my mind to people that will understand me.

My last jump was a military jump on 26 Jul 2008. I miss the companionship of fellow jumpers.

My last civilian jump was 27 Mar 2004. Going on 12 years now.

I'm 44 years old, single, no worries about about family, so I want to get back into jumping. I guess I'm in my second childhood, not sure.

I've been out of the loop so long, that it makes me nervous, but it is something that I have committed myself to do, just to prove to myself that I'm not to old to still do it.

I quit jumping after losing two friends. After that, I just did my military jumps to stay proficient and that was it.

Chris Martin / Harry Parrish, Harry took me in and trained me in the military and Chris was the awesome fun guy to hang with on the weekend. I was in Afghanistan when I learned of his death and then Harry passed during training a student.

With all of that, I walked away from the sport except for what I had to do for the military.

I have not jumped since 26 Jul 2008 and I hope to make that change in the next week or two. Just wanted to share what this all means to me. Its hard to discuss this subject with people that have not "been there and done that". I know you all understand why I need to get back in the air, I could never explain it to someone with words.

  2. I have not posted on here in a very very long time, but I have to reply to this one.

14-1/2 years I've been with this company and they are closing our maintenance base. (Airline). We will close on or around July 15th. Maybe before, maybe after, you can transfer or take the layoff.

If you leave before we lock the door, you lose your severance package. (4 weeks pay, 5 years recall rights).

Basically every company has you by the balls. I was lucky to start part time doing contract maintenance for other airlines, (big pay cut, but still income). I work with guys with homes and familys' and they are stuck not knowing where to go or when to leave. Houses, children in school and all that life stuff. If they leave, they lose that generous 4 weeks of pay. If they transfer to another base, well, figure out a place to live after we tell you when you can go there.

Company's do not give a damn about you as a person. I love my job, but in reality, its just a paycheck and I have to view it as such as we are all just an employee number. No loyalty. I understand its just business, but they are screwing with alot of peoples lives. >:(

I wish you well at wherever your heading.

  3. I just lurk on here and have not posted anything in a very long time.. but I've known John for quite a few years.

Congratulations to you both and I wish you to have long happy lives together. :)
I'm your safety on the jump saturday night John....so expect a good smack in the ass on your way out.....:)

  4. Tennessee Technology Center. Nashville, TN campus.

It's a pretty good program that is 18months. Thats how I got my certificate through them. Tuition is not very expensive being a vocational school instead of a college.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Well, several reasons........ rig is in my closet, reserve unpacked.... just back from Afghanistan.... leaving for Italy in two weeks....USPA membership expired in FEB. I tried to do some military static line jumps last friday and saturday, but the weather in Tullahomma TN, (Arnold AFB), did'nt cooperate. I haven't had time to do any sport jumping since I've been home. [:/]

  6. Yep, definately a government conspiracy... instead of the cold war, theres a big secret chicken war..:o Key players? Colonel Sanders and General Tso. (Theres more going on in China than we are being told.). This war has gone on for years!!! Maybe this should be moved to Speakers Corner. :D

  7. It means the feds have no buisness knowing if you have a firearm or not. To me thats what it means.

"I don't see language in the first amendment that says you can go to church on Sunday, or that you can use this website. Does that mean the first amendment doesn't protect those activities?"

Ask the Branch Davidians about that one.

  8. It does'nt matter anymore. The second amendment is supposed to be a right, but yet we, as individuals have to ask permission to purchase, or carry a firearm. That means it is not considered to be a right, but instead a privilege. As with any privilege, it can be taken away. This "right" is no longer a right. Hell, the Feds have basically flushed the whole "Bill Of Rights" down the drain.
