welcome. Yeah I am in the middle of a divorce... LOL your ears werent able to equalize the pressure quickly enough.l Try this at your own risk:

pinch your nose closed and then (GENTLY) try to blow air out of it. It should make your ears equalize. Don't do it too quick or one of your eyes will pop out. :D My first jump was very painful and this worked beautifully. By the way, you may be dehydrated, or you may be congested. this is usually the cause for this problem skydiving. A decongestent might help, as will making sure you have plenty of water.

    My $0.02 worth.

thanks, I thourght about the blowing the nose thing but then it occured
to me that it might make me unstable during FF. I have heard of scuba divers doing the same thing. sorry about the divorce, I've been divorced myself (many years ago), its a nightmare :S

Let me stand out against the crowd. No, I don't think I would. There are many other things in this world that I think taste better. I drink beer cause, its cheap, has alcohol in it, and its a social thing.

Yeah same here, you took the words from my mouth.

    Welcome to the forums! :)
As far as your wife arguing with you, I'm sorry to hear that. If you do a search on the forums though, it's quite common for spouses to disagree about this sport. There's a joke that skydiving causes AIDS- altitude induced divorce syndrome. Let's hope that doesn't happen to
you since you are newly married! ;)
For the ear popping, maybe your sinuses were just a little clogged. Non-drowsy Sudafed works for me.

haha yes I just read about AIDS somewhere else on the forum. I think she would think differently had the last jump gone ok with her. tonight
we are going out, maybe she'll think differently after a drink hehe
;) or maybe not :o and its funny you mention the sinuses thing, I do have a problem with my sinuses from an old nose injury when I was a teenager, I'll try sudafed for sure :)

well my ears have never popped... but i was going to invite you to come down to San Diego to do your training there.... we're all really nice i promise...

and how did you not enjoy the intensity??? that was the best part about learning how to skydive.

I have to be honest and tell you I was scared poopless. I was nervous anyway and that plane ride up there just put my nerves over the edge. the actual freefall bit I liked and the parachute ride was nice when it wasnt spinning (if that makes sense?). man that felt fast!
anyway I was thinking of elsinore purely because they are the nearest to me, even then its a hefty drive. but I'm definitely open to the idea of coming down and doing jump at some time in future, I'll try and make a day of it.

  5. did my first tandem jump a couple of weeks ago while on honeymoon in hawaii. loved and hated it - if you can understand that. i was planning on doing the aff course at lake elsinore, CA, but now im thinking about maybe doing one more tandem as the first time i did it i felt as though i didnt get to enjoy it so much because it was so intense. my wife also did it but mashed her knee in a hard landing. now we are arguing because i want to do it again but she doesnt want me to??! i dont blame her, walking is painful for her now so i can see where shes coming from.
anyway im 34 yrs young, 206 lbs and hopefully will be jumping within the next few weeks. oh can anyone recommend something for ear popping when falling, found it really painful :P
