  1. I'd love to see some raw footage aswell -judging from the video's I've ssen of this vs the GoPro HD on the net - the GoPro seems to perform slightly better - I haven't seen any real skydiving footage though which is really all that matters ;)

I am about to buy a main off of dropzone, but a I have never jumped a 7 cell chute. Is there any differences in performance between jumping a 170 sq 7- cell chute vs a 9 cell chute of the same size. I am a pretty conservative flyer when im under the cloth. What I am mst concerned with is if there is a difference between my rate of decent, and the flair. Thanks .

I did the same research about a year ago - and ended up replacing my Sabre1-170 (9 cell) with a brand new Storm-170 (7 cell) - would I recommend the Storm to others ? Hell yeah ! - I've got about 50 jumps on the sabre and the same on the Storm so far.

For me the most important requirement for my new 'chute was that I wanted soft sweet openings (something my Sabre always denied me :S) and I wanted something that would handle turbulence well. I got both with the Storm - What I lost was the awesome forward speed of the Sabre during landings - all the 7-cells I've seen are much better suited for accurate landings than for swooping. Besides that I cant say there's much difference between the 3-4 different 9-cells I've flown and the Storm - except for the openings - the are SOO smooth B|

How do you flare your Storm?

I perform the flare pretty much the same way as on my Sabre - bring the toggles down until I fell the input beginning to affect the downward speed - then adding more flare as the ground approaches - I usually end up hovering 15cm above the ground and can simply "step down" to complete my landing.

I did flare a little late on my first few jumps - was pleasantly surprised by how much power is left at the end of the flare.

Does anyone jump A 7 cell canopy?.Was wondering the differences between A 7 cell and A 9 cell.I do not see many 7 cells. Thanks Blues.

    I have 90 jumps on 9 cells (50 in student/Navigator and 40 in a sabre1-170) and 10 jumps on my brand new Storm-170.

I've noticed two things in particular going from the Sabre1 to the Storm - The flare is VERY different on the Storm - instead of giving me a good swoop like my Sabre1 it tends to break and lift instead. I get very soft touchdowns on the Storm - (Actually miss the high speed of the Sabre during landings)

The other thing is stability in turbulence - The Storm behaves much better than the Sabre - fells more steady in situations where the Sabre would get "wobbly"

I almost forgot... the opening are VERY different - no matter how poor I pack it I get soft gentle openings which was my main reason for buying the Storm in the first place.

So how about it - have anybody tried the Pulse ? How is it compared to ie. a Sabre2 ?

Sure, Ask the PD test pilots;).

Sorry I thought someone might have had a chance to demo it - I'm trying to decide between a Pulse 170 and a Storm 170 to replace my Sabre 170 (my back cant take the abuse from the openings anymore :S)

Check out the thread 'bout new PD stuff in the canopy control forum ;)

That thread is so OT by now that no one remembers what it was initially about :S

  7. I had the same experience with my G3 last summer - I'm fairly convinced it was simply caused by my tubes being to tight requireing me to reach terminal velocity before the air put enough pressure on the PC for it to get the lines free.

Was kind of scary looking over my shoulder and just seeing my PC with the bag under it - but no chute :o

  8. I'm using the Cookie M1 and am really pleased with it. I wanted a Bonehead Mindwarp but it was way to small for my head :$ - the M1 fits me perfectly.

It does an excellent job of keeping out wind noise while jumping.

  9. I picked up a Cookie helmet recently - wasn't that much more expensive here in Denmark (10%). I found the bonehead helmets to be a lot less comfortable that the Cookie helmet I ended up with - but I guess that depends largely on the size of your head :P
