I know this is a really old thread, but it is entirely relevant to my experience today. Had my AFF4 a few days ago, and after an AFF3 with slight stability problems, I was able to get stable and perform my turns without any problems after instructor release. Little bit of instability when I reached for my handle, but otherwise, AOK.

Today I had my first solo exit. The exit was fine, but I just wasn't able to get stable.

Point being, I think I'm going to head to the wind tunnel. I know I'm over-analyzing what I need to do with my arms and legs and I'm not relaxing - I'm trying to force my limb positions. I somewhat considered a wind-tunnel, but now I'm convinced that it would be the best way to break through the only real problem I'm having at the moment.

I'm so interested in this sport, and as someone else said, failure isn't an option. I'm not used to doing things poorly, but my focus on the problem is causing the problem.

Thanks nerd - hope you're well along the path of skydiving.

hey, after my lv3 the weather turned crap so we decided to drag an instructor 1&1/2 hrs to a wind tunnel for 5, 2min sessions. i feel it really help and when you relax you can really feel yourself sink, i was so tense in the tunnel and the air i looked constipated lol.

dont beat yourself up jut enjoy jumping an it will all come togther soon, well its taken me 5months to get my A licence due to crap weather, i know id rather be flying and failing than sitting watchin windsocks!!

    keep at it dude.

  3. :)good day people, i have recently done my aff, got 3 more console jumps to do and CH1 then i will have my A licence.

started on the old RAPS course, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi_QGwUD8R0
but got way too impatient with the crappy british summer we been having and done an aff course.
what an amazing ( and expensive) sport, theres so many disaplines i didnt know about and every one i have met is great. a sport where everyone is the same, wether a student or experiances, we all get some skin as we climb to altitude.

thanks to all out there who help develope the sport and give us this thrill!!

so a Big Hello from me!

  4. hey guys, thanks for the advice, i can appreciate going to the drop zone on a rainy day, but its 150 miles away (156 to be correct) and to travel all that way for a rainy day to me is a pain in the arse, so seeing as i had my new rig sitting helplessly on the ground, thought id try pro packing at home during the evening whilst the missis watches the soaps.

i have nearly completed a flat packing course, but no way will my new saber 2 stay still!

thanks for you help, will take a look at some of thoes dvds you reccommended

  5. hello and thanks for your opinions,

i am new to the sport, stupid and had the cash spare so i brought the rig, it fits well, total weight with th erig on is 180lbs so wingload is just under 1lb sq ft, will allow for a 170 in this container too. with DOM all in 2007, im happy with the purchase and cant wait to get some more experiance on other canopys 1st before using this rig.

i will be only jumpin approx 2 -3 days a month so expect the rig to last a while.

    thnaks again guys

im thinking of buying a 2nd hand, but new javelin odd rig, ( never been jumped)
its got saber 2 190, pd 176 reserve, cypress 2 and most the extras on the container ( mini risers, fat cutaway ect)

i think the retail on one of these is 4200GPB(ish) here in uk but cannot confirm because all of the website need you to call and i dont want to waste anyones time.
