  1. Well, based on my experiences (3 boneheads), I have done significant re-shaping of bonehead helmets. Don't have a gunner, so maybe there is something special about it that I don't know about.

For cases of a crown shape difference, I have found that you certainly can reshape them. You can't take an inch out, but if your head is oval and the helmet is round, you can modify the shape of the helmet.

Or maybe I have just been changing the shape of my head..

    p.p.s. I shaved BKdice's man's chin!

With some strong resistance from the shavee. :D

I was just taken aback by having my cutie on my arm, and another cutie shaving me!

Everyone at work today couldn't understand why I was clean shaven -- it was so impossible to describe to WUFFOS, I started making crap up.

    Anyway, great boogie!

What about a Keep-the-boyfriend-from-poking-you-in-the-eye-with-a-sharp-pointy-stick card? Got one of those?!?

Didin't you slip one of those in my bag before I left? I was sure you did!;)

No worries- you know it is really YOUR ass I am after anyway!:D

No, but I think you broke into my hidden stash and stole one. You know, they won't work unless they are activated. Be sure to call the 1-800 number from your home phone..

As for the second note.. as Run DMC said.. "you be illin'" :S

I think I will just use my Get-Out-Of-The-Hole-You-Dug-For-Yourself-Free-Card.

I am sure I have one of those to use! :D

Gosh, you invite the guy into your house and he starts smacking your girl on the ass on exit. What gratitude.. :D

I am afraid Bettina's ass is all mine, as is the rest of her. I guess I am willing to share it with a few choice hotties.. as long as I get to watch.

Has pics of the ash bag we made. I posted descriptive stuff in that thread also about the dive.

We put rose petals in the bag also, which the father grew as a hobby (they were beautiful). We had so much extra, that we brought a bag of them up to release on a 1000 foot pass.

At 1000 feet, the door went open, and the plastic bags were ripped open. Holy Moley, those petals flew around the cabin like a tornado. Obviously we didn't think that one through very well. But it was so dang funny that it made everyone laugh at a time when we were pensive and sad.

  6. Mention of Brian Germain made me think back to a jumper at the canopy seminar at our dz given by Brian.

Brain asked what we wanted to get out of the seminar. The jumper's response was:

' ... and to push my canopy beyond its limits'

BEYOND it's limits? Like... to failure??

    :)

  7. Well, I think I actually had the last vigil (A) in the US, as Kim kept hounding me to send it back saying that I was one of the last three. She finally sent me a (B) unit before I sent the (A) back.
(I wasn't jumping it, as it was out of my rigs).

    Two points:

    1) The (B) units are usable for static line jumps now, as per Kim (in an email to me). This says something, obviously, about their confidence of solving the static problem.

    2) The Deland misfire seems to have stumped them, and they haven't been able to find anything 'wrong' with the unit, nor been able to clearly identify a 'root cause' for the fire. (again, this is as per an email from Kim).

I haven't ever seen any type of canopy lines elongate over time

I -believe- that HMA does show some elongation over time.

My buddy had one of the first Xaos 21s, and when he did his reline, he found that the lineset (HMA) had stretched (or I guess they changed the spec..).

Last Easter at CSS, I was chatting with Beezy (HiPer), and I believe (if I remember through my fog) he confirmed that the HMA does stretch some towards the end of its useful life. But don't quote me/him on that, I may have misunderstood the discussion.

  9. Depends on the subject. I most often use 1/500th, to fully stop things like jumpsuits from being blurry. Slower than that, and there will be a bit of blur.

I also like a tight depth of field usually if my focus is set right. Tandem students don't care about their shoes being in focus. For other types of shots, I will use slower shutter speeds for a better depth of field.

  10. Well, it is hard to tell, as the video has been (i believe) compressed, which yields artifacts.

One thing though, turn off the autofocus. Right before deployment, the camera focused on dirt on your lens.

To me, the camera looks big and heavy.

  11. Get in touch with Conceptus. I had one of the earlier bite switches (the straight ones) die on me, and I bought another. I thought it was having problems last week, so I sent an email to conceptus, and here is what he sent back.

We will replace just about any switch for any reason. If you'll send
them back I'll gladly send you new ones.

He offered to replace even the old one with a new one. I'd say Ed seemed willing to make me, a customer, happy. I'd be willing to bet if you gave him the story, he would send you a new one.

  12. From what I remember about previous discussions, to be rendered in-date, as long as the pack data card has a repack listed (and is in date), and one can contact the rigger, and the rigger certifys that it is his repack, then it should pass muster. Some DZs I have been to will put forth the effort to call, but most won't (as far as I have seen).

The seal is basically two fold. 1) To allow a jumper to ensure that nothing has been done to his reserve. and 2) for a rigger to certify that it is, in fact, still his packjob, and not field repacked.

As soon as the seal is broken, both of those things are in question.

Again, this is just what came to mind, and certainly could be wrong.
