  1. I demo'd a Sabre2 150 for several skydives and had them put my Silhouette back in my container. Openings are waaaay toooo slow for me. An ideal opening for me doesn't take 1000+ feet and end in closed end cells. The reason I was demo'ing was because I wanted more flare out of a canopy than I was getting with my Silhouette. The flare was great with the Sabre2. Also, I'm not looking to get into swooping or HP landings, and love the glide path of the Silhouette. The Sabre2's steeper glide path was not my cup of tea. Overall, I think the Sabre2 is overrated. If you love the Silhouette, the Sabre2 is not the canopy for you IMO.

  2. My first canopy that I jumped off the beginner Manta was a Silhouette 190. I put about 20 jumps on the 190 and bought a used rig that had a Silhoutte 170. I've put about 250 jumps on it. I have absolutely loved this canopy. Its responsive to toggle imput, recovers nicely, opens wonderfully, packs easily and has a great glide path.

Over the last year I have put a few dozen jumps on a Spectre 170, ZP EXE 185 and 150, Sabre2 170 and a Fury. By far, the Silhouette has stood out for me as my favorite. It boggles my mind why the Silhouette is never mentioned in posts for new jumpers. Just because its square (not semi-eliptical) it doesn't get the props it should.

I can't wait for my new Silhouette 150. It's due to arrive tomorrow!

  3. I've had my Michigan for about eight months now. I've had to get the bottom of my booties professionally re-attached (the rubber part to the bootie starting coming off), the stitching around the zipper has come undone in two places (one at the bottom of the zipper and one up by my chest), and had the seam come undone on both outside knees (were the cordura bootie meet the upper leg fabric and back of leg fabric) which needed repair after two different slid in landings. Tough part about the repairs was that there wasn't enough fabric allowance in the seams to go just anywhere and have it fixed. The third place I went to finally was able to do it. They look great but after jumping it a little longer, I'm some what disappointed. But this is my first jumpsuit (I've stood up 99% of my landings in this suit so I haven't been hard on it), so I guess I don't have anything to compare it to.
