Dropzone Reviews posted by Broke

  1. CPI is a super friendly dropzone. I was able to hook up with people right away after a brief conversation with manifest and a waiver signing.

I had some super fun jumps.

This place is what skydiving is about. Jumpers having fun. Low key no pressure dives yet challenging dives.

The only time I was yelled at was because I didn't know where the foot path was.

I will definitally be coming back. They don't have the same facilities as some of the larger dropzones have, but when the day is done all you really need is some altitude and a nice landing area. Which CPI can get you the altitude, and the landing area is good enough for me to hit.

  2. SDC is a DZ with absolutely everything.
The Staff at SDC are very professional. Their rigging services are top notch. They have wrestling mats for the packing area, so you can pack in comfort. This facility has everything including a weight room for the health conscious skydiver.
The load organizers were super friendly and awesome at organizing some cool dives. even though I am a low timer there were plenty of people to jump with. I learned a lot.
I even got to jump with one of the SDC Furies... mmmm SDC Furies... so hot :)

  3. The first thing you will notice at SDLI is the oh so friendly and Professional Manifest chick. She is awesome.

I went early in the seasion on a Friday, so there wasn't much going on. The vibe was low key. The only other people there were students and instructors.

When it gets to the busy part of the seasion they try to keep the Caravan going, but I was there when they only had the 207. Any airworth AC to get me to a reasionable altitude will do.

The main landing area is kind of funky as it is sandwiched between the runway and the boarding area. The walk back you have to be careful because much of it is over concrete.

New rental gear abuse rules in effect, so just be careful that you have everything up and off the ground. Treat the rental gear as if it were your own.

SDLI is a decent DZHowever it could be better.

  4. Skydive City in Zephyrhills Florida is truely one great DZ.

    Where to begin?

The first thing you will notice about this DZ is it has a more than ample parking area. Which in turn is where the camping area/RV area is. And from there it only gets better.

There are several buildings on premesis here. The first closest to the parking/camping area would be the shower house. These are some of the best showering/bathroom facilities I have seen at any campground. Each shower room provides more than ample room to get changed in as well as most importantly providing privacy.

In thier manifest building there is also the Hard Dock cafe for those who might be a little hungery. There is also an ATM located at the manifest building. The manifest office is Air Conditioned, for those hot summer days. There is also computer access in manifest, so you can check out your emails without having to worry. Be kind please share the time after all if you are in manifest, shouldn't you be getting on a load or something.

Just off of the manifest building is a very nice shaded seating deck. This seating deck has a very nice view of the landing area, so when you are not on a load you can just chill out and watch the swoopers. Yes Skydive City has a swoop pond. They have some incredable pictures on thier web site. For he student the landing area has a huge arrow indicating wind dirrection, so you can always tell where you need to be with regards to your holding area on your canopy ride down.
Gear rental price for student gear from Skydive City itself is average, but for the more experianced skydiver you may want to demo a rig from the Sunshine factory.

The packing area is huge. So if you want to pack go ahead it is nice and carpeted. ANd if you are too lazy to pack yourself well then there is the packers tent as well.

They also have an air conditioned training room and other training areas for practicing that bigway you've allways wanted to get in on.

Even in thier "slow" summer seasion they have 2 Twin Otters which get you to 13.5k fast.

Even when there is no jumping going on there is enough nuttyness to keep you occupied.

If you make it to only one Dropzone on the East Coast of the US you have got to hit this one.
