  1. As Richard Bach wrote in Illusions

"You are never given a dream without the power to make it come true. You may, however, have to work for it."

Learning to skydive is a course in self improvement in many ways. It teaches humility, self awareness, self responsibility, respect for yourself and others, in addition to learning to push air and fly a canopy. The adrenaline will draw you in. What you choose to do with it afterward is up to you.

    That's a start anyway

  3. Got a really nasty stomach bug or food poisoning in July. Some really nasty stuff happened with that particular case.

One of the worst parts was yakking so violently into the toilet as to shit myself. When I stopped yakking long enough, I got up, sat on the pot sideways so I could puke into the tub as necessary.

The one thing about stomach flu - It's a great Ab workout!!!;);)

  4. Are you a girl?
Wanna make history with us again this year?

Women's Texas State Record attempt will be Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Skydive Spaceland.

Be a part of a 2pt. 30way. If we get enough girls, we will make it a 2pt. 32 way.

I'm also looking for girls willing to do some 20way so a lucky guy can get his TeXXas Pink Patch.

For more info, email me at [email protected]

It seems that folks are overlooking the other side of the coin here. I've seen little students that have through some work, gotten away from AFF-I's at different DZs due to their little size/light weight and flattening/de-arching due to fear or whatever.

Dress for success. I have worn camera wings on an AFF jump (without using the thumb loops). You have to be able to match the students fall rate.

I bought a firefly wing jacket for just that purpose so I can work with 120lb students (Me @ 215 exit weight) with great success. I don't recommend it unless you work out flying the wings first or with every Category A or every "problem child" Category D.

Having the wing jacket has doubled my capability to stay with smaller students. But also correctly assessing my capabilities as an instructor to safely stay with a smaller student is just as important a skill.

the cutaway video from pier ltd is a good one.

I use that one a lot. I especially like Bob Halecks over the top speech about line twists or something ;)

Lots of great info! Students who haven't jumped in more than 2-3 weeks at our DZ sit down and watch it as part of their safety review.

nah, the smell/taste just aint my cup o tea. I don't like fish. maybe that is why.

And there's nothing more fun than treating a woman like an M&M.:o Melts in your mouth and not in your hand.;)

  8. Hey kids,

I was cruising Fark.com this morning and found an article about a 75 year old pilot over in Britain.

When George H.W. Bush jumped he raised $3M for Houston hospitals and charities. This guy is 5 years younger and only wants to raise $2500 for a local hospice. (I would have put that in British money but I don't have that character handy).

    Here's the article -

I'm working on getting info to send money electronically to this event. It is this weekend!

Let's see what us Dropzone.commers can do to help a brother out.

  9. Thanks for posting this thread Chaoskittie :)
Thanks to all of my skydiving family for the giggles, great visuals, filthy jokes, beer burps, beer farts the next day, the hangovers, skinny dipping, the bruises from doing hard core 4way/8way, the tears we shared, the tears we didn't, goofy grins, glaring looks, the stuff we said to each other and the stuff anyone ever said without my knowledge, the lousy "here's your bowling ball, please go away" students, and the rock stars of AFF. Thank you to all of my teammates and the people I've only ever jumped with once, the coaches and the fun jumpers, the wuffos, the "fixing to burn a hole in the earth" newbies, and to all the newbies who ask lots of thoughtful questions.

I'm grateful for all of you. Thank you for helping shape who I am. Thank you.

  10. ...And you guys think that trying to find a decent woman is a picnic?

Guys, if you're neurotic, incapable of fidelity, capable of making up what I'm thinking for me, act constantly like you're PMSing, etc. then you can claim to be a lesbian trapped in a man's body...

GOGA ain't all it's cracked up to be.

  11. "You're gonna get outta bed, put your clothes on and get your fanny perpendicular right on over to school. Do you hear me?"

CKLW used to play that about 20 times a day when I was a kid. Loved that bit along with the "3 Little Pigs" and "Black Lassie"

  12. "You have the Precious! Give me back my Precious!"

    or

    "It's 4:20! Where's the fucking catnip!"

    or

"No really! I wasn't going to do anything! Just go back to napping on the couch... You're getting very sleepy. Your eyelids are getting very heavy..."

  13. If you ever do want a bigger, stay hard penis, just go to the store and get one!

And there aren't any of those annoying, lay around your house, drink all your beer, farting under the covers side effects either B|

  14. Houston dining

The Daily Review - Taft and Dallas streets (I think) really upscale, incredible home foods - like meatloaf that is to die for - in a really nice atmosphere.

Tafia -Monica Pope's restaurant. Monica is really, really big on using local ingredients. There menu features a 5 course Taste of Texas meal and it includes a glass of Texas wine appropriate for each course. Brilliant desserts, too.

Highly recommend both of these restaurants for something upper scale but not so sheeshy you can't get in.

    Have fun, Dave!

  15. Houston isn't dirty. Can't be because Dallas sucks so bad it keeps the streets here pretty clean.;)

Warehouse District is a bit pricey. So is the Montrose. Try Midtown which is within walking distance of the city's largest liquor store - Spec's. Depends on what your budget is.

If you're working inside the Loop it may be worth it to you to rent/buy in that neighborhood. Also depends on where inside the Loop you are working.

Houston is a great town with lots of museums, theatres, clubs, live music venues, etc. If you're patient and spend some time you can find most of them really easily. Just know that sometimes you're going to have to drive to get there. So what if our sports teams suck! We've got world class opera and symphony and ballet. And St. Arnold Brewery is somewhere around, too.

Spaceland's a pretty cool DZ, too, once you get to know it. Otters and a Caravan and SkyFest - woohoo!

C'mon! You're going to really like it here except in July and August.

    Good luck!
