  2. Yeah, this happened to me too... about 6 weeks ago at Perris. Didn't notice till the end of the day and someone said "what the hell's wrong with your eye" :)
    Think it could have been when my head slightly connected with the door on exit :S:P

    Took about two weeks to clear up, and i was jumping every day without problems.

    It went a nice yellowy colour as it was healing, but there was never any pain, just occasionally a bit itchy ;)

    Biggest hastle is everyone saying... "Oh my god what's wrong with your eye" ...as i'm sure you allready know :)

  3. It does capture to .AVI because this is the best quality and what we want to take the video in at from the DV camera.

    After you have captured the footage you can edit and Export it. There are many options of what types of file to export to ie. mpg, mov... etc.

    You CAN capture in at different video settings, i believe it's in the project settings menu... i've only just upgraded to pro from 6.5 myself and haven't had much time to play around :)
    But as i say i think it's best to capture at the best quality you can and then reduce this afterwards.

    For advice on hacking (also called in-enabling) your camcorder, if its at all possible. You can also Google for "DV In Enable".



    I think Sony must have clued into the whole "DV In Enable" thing as where the earlier versions... PC5/8 etc were possible to mod because the only difference was the software wouldn't alow DV IN, i thought that the newer PC103 was atually different in Hardware in not alowing DV IN?
    This is what i heard... would be interested to know if anyone knew differently from actuall experience :)

    Now... while at uni i had a part time job at Avis, the rent-a-car place... and it's fair to say that *some* people there couldn't make a day go by without hitting 120mph minimum and would often hit 140/150 or until the car went Bang :)
    Hire cars... truly the best handling cars in the world :)

  7. I know this has probably been covered in Sooo many other threads, but... does the USPA have any ideas about introducing a Minimum jump number for camera (like the 200 jump limit in the UK).

    IMHO any jumper passionate about the sport these days isn't gonna take too long to rack up 200 jumps in the USA sun anyway!

    OK, OK, i can see your point, it's just a little difficult to understand it from my particular point of view as i don't have access to any guns for fun or otherwise, and i really realise what i'm about to say is probably sacrilege... but i don't really see the difference between a big gun, and a slightly bigger gun?

    I can see this going back to the canopy thing, but i get the difference between a small canopy, and a slightly smaller canopy... it goes faster, turns quicker and gives a physical rush.

    What does the bigger gun do? Put a bigger hole in the target? I'm really not taking the piss here, since i have no experience with this i need educating... does a bigger hole = more fun... i never found this to be the case :)

    Yeah dude, the yellow FF2 was off to sweden or denmark or something like that... they had little bits of paper inside them with who's helmet it was, and what country it was off to.

    OK, I have to concede to that, you are right…. However, and I realise this is a crappy thing to say, but Anyone who jumps out of a plane has to accept that there is some risk involved with the activity they’re doing… even, and sometimes especially when they’ve done nothing wrong during the skydive.

    In that respect at least a choice is involved.

    You're right, it is a lot of work, but it's a cheaper alterative for those who can't quite stretch to the FF2 just yet, but still want the fantastic build quality of a 2KC helmet.

    I'm the housemate BTW, it's my helmet :)
    My helmet worked out a little over $200 cheaper than the FF2... and that means extra jumps in Perris next week ;)

    Online video clips are encoded in such a way that ideally you get the best quality for your clip whilst being the smallest in file size.

    Constantly newer methods of encoding the video clips are being developed, and so for everyone else to watch these clips they need to be decoded.

    A Codec is a decoder for a certain video file. So a Codec pack is a bunch of different codecs giving you a better chance of actually having the right one you need for the particular video clip you've downloaded ;)

    I personally have alway found the K-lite codec pack to be very good (up to date) as stated above. :)

    If you have the 105 then, yes, you can record back into the camera.
    When you and your friends camera's are plugged into eachother, as stated above set both camera's to VCR mode, but if you wanted to record on yours what your friend is playing....
    Press the FN button, select Page 3 (i think), and press the REC CTRL? (record control) option. From here you have the option to record. (off the top of my head mind you ;) )

    As for premiere, from the file menu, there is an 'Export', then 'Export to tape'. The computer will want to take control of your camera to do this (so you might have to set up the 'Device Control' settings to include Sony/Generic, as i don't think the latest version of premiere includes the 105)

    I hope this makes SOME sense :)

  19. Over here in England we had the 103 & 105 on sale... didn't even know a 104 was available (but makes sense, as in england cameras cost a sh*t load more if they can DV IN back to the camera... some tax thing).
    Anyway, seeing as your 104 has DV IN the only thing you're REALLY going to be missing is the memory stick (which i do find quite handy).
    Certainly does sound like the new 108/9 is a bit pants with only a 25mm lens adapters!
    As for battery, oddly enough i find that i still get more life out of my old 101 (great buy if you can get hold of one) than i do out of my new 105 (both with standard batteries)
    + i prefer the fact that the 101 has both the triple audio/video plug (like a headphone jack but with video as well) & the SVIDEO plug (unlike the 105 which only has Sony's *special* plug which requires an adapter!)
    .... after all that, see if you can find a 101 in a clearance sale somewhere :)

    Yes, most of the smaller Sony's are 30MM thread. (except the PC100 - PC330 range [37MM])
    I found a list from a lens manufacturer...

    And according to this the TRV11 IS a 30MM fitting (which would make sense).

    A stepper ring should be a matter of a couple of $, or some of the lenses i've bought have actually come with a small selection of stepper rings (27, 30, 30.5)

    From what i can gather from the Canon website the EOS 300D uses the same release switch as all the others. When i converted my EOS 1000 for use with a release switch the only reason it worked was because the EOS 35MM range use a digital release mechanism, and so soldering on extra wires simply made two switches for the same release. The female connector for the standard bite switch costs less than £1 (about $2 available from radio shack).
    Because digital cameras are... well digital they MUST use a digital release, and so i can't see why this method wouldn't work for ANY digital camera.
    The only thing is, whould you WANT to use a cheap digital camera? With only a few megapixels the image quality wouldn't be great and there's no chance of blowing it up. I'd have to say start off with a cheap canon EOS 35MM (always available very cheap on ebay!) Either develop the film and scan in as suggested, or just give them the roll :)
