  1. Without a doubt I'd hit up Zhills, great DZ location and you will jump as much as you can, may be a little cool at altitude, but hey it's winter in FL, 60F.

There is always a great group of ziperbags (wingsuiters) jumping out there, and I'd suggest calling the dz and getting the info on a first flight course.

They also have a greta bar on site, and kick off with a great NYE party

My pulse opens quicker than my aerodyne pilot ever did. My first pulse had a turn so I sent it to pd. They couldn't fix it so I got a brand new canopy from them.

This is like saying my apple tasted different to my banana .... >:(

All canopies are different, to compare one canopy to another canopy built by a different manufacturer is just another sign of the inadequate education and information jumpers have on their choices of gear in the sport. The days of the bonfire talks about gear are long gone, there is a world of information and direct access to demo canopies and customer service and field reps.

The Pulse is a very flat trimmed versatile canopy, the opening sequence is short, yet comfortable.

The Pilot, is trimmed a bit more than the Pulse, and the openings are longer with more seeking.

Glad to hear PD set you right with a new Pulse.

I've seen this product, and it's a great idea, the big difference between the Pro-On and the TurnedOn, is the Pro-On only indicated that the device is in record mode (and thats important), the TurnedOn, has three indicators:

    Blue for “standby,”
    Red for “record”
    Yellow for “warning/error

Both good products, one just does more than the other.

since Friday, no answer, no reply :/

Don't you think you should have waited till end of the work day Monday to see if they responded, no skydiving manufacturing company works on weekends ..... Most in the Fl area, work Mon-Thurs and take Friday off.

  5. faulk04

they say it can be compared to the katana/crossfire group.

recovery arc is more along the lines of the stilleto

    very light riser pressure

Seems to be a very wide range then, as all the three canopies listed are very very different in the flight characteristics, performance, recovery arch, deployment dynamics ..... And by very different, I mean, NOT EVEN CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. ;)

  6. I've been to all these DZ and I'm sure you'll get the same warm welcome I did. each has it's own vibe and social antics.

DZ Moorsele - Great DZ, find Ronny the rigger, he's good people
    DZ Schaffen
Skydive Center Spa - Find Jimmy & Muad in the gear store, the'll look after you

  7. Just two quick things ;)

    1. BUMP (cause you know his is the best thread ondz.com)

    2. Ladies, I appreciate your willingness to send in pics, unlike the dribbling men on here who bicker, argue and debate the quality of the puppies. I for one say you all have boobs like I like 'em .... One on the left and one on the right ;)

  8. There are several factors that could be causing your opening issues and not all of them are related to the canopy.

There are some things you can try and if you find no resolution, then I'd suggest you contact PD and speak to their maintenance department, and have the test jumpers do some jumps on your canopy and get some feedback to you. Also like most have suggested, get PD to reline your canopy with either HMA or Vectran. Reason being is these type of lines are more dynamically stable over the long term, and don't go out of trim due to friction on the lines and lower controls.

Here are some things to look into.

Packing: Dont shove the nose or roll the nose, leave it flush with the rest of the rest of the fabric. When you quarter your slider, make sure that you push it down onto the bottom skin, and leave the slider sticking out above the nose, about the height of the binding tape on the slider, just before you roll the tail.

Gear: What size PC are you using? Is it ZP or F111? .... Get a F111, 27" Pilot Chute. Doing this will help avoid a faster than desired extraction speed of the bag off your back.

Replace your kill line, if it is worn.

Use large rubber bands and double stow all of them, yes all of them, even the locking stows

Deployment: Dont look up at your canopy, and keep your hands off the risers during inflation. Throw out your Pilot cute, and keep flying your body, wait for the canopy to pull you up, continue to fly your body, feet and knees together, and push your heels down.

Hope this helps, I sued to jump a ST-120 and much of what I have written sorted out my opening issues.

  9. It's amazing to see such lack of simple business "know how" within the USPA. Most companies would fund such an idea from a marketing budget, but no, the USPA will deny the competition part of our sport and those who represent the country on the world stage, these funds.

Time to either make a change with your votes or you wallet. USPA Fees are being mismanaged on a continued basis, well thats how it looks from the outside.

  14. I'd recommend JSC (Johannesburg Skydiving Club) out in Carletonville, about an hour our of Johannesburg. It used to be my home dz and the staff, facilities are among the best in SA.
    www.jsc.co.za

You can book tandem jumps through the DZ or from SkyHigh Tandems who operates from the dz. (I used to haul meat for them)

If your looking for more info on DZ in and around South Africa, you can get all you need on the following site.

  15. Here is the short film by the same director that was the basis for the District 9 movie:

And some info on how the movie came to being made:

If he can do the same for the Halo movie as he has for this one, it would be a great movie if it got the green light.

  16. Been there done that and so glad I did, things have not always gone smooth, but the risk and the adventure has been worth the rewards when they come.

2005 packed up my bags and headed to Fl for a TM Rating and then off to PA to work, $100 to my name and no regrets, ended up in NorCal and had one of the best 6 months of my life :S

2006 stacked onto my '05 trip i got the chance of a life time to work within the sport outside of the DZ, and I took it, and have not looked back, made some awesome friends and lost some great ones to.

Live the adventure and the dream :)
Just dont rely on anyone but those you trust, I had some events happen that when I leaned on the one person I thought I could trust, they were to occupied looking for something else.
