  1. Wow! Gusset! You're a real mean, moody wingsuit flyer! Awesome.

Where were you at the weekend? I managed to drag my carcass up there and did some jumps. 5 way sit with tube and others.

Hmm, perhaps I need to be a little bit more current before wingsuit flights are for me... ;)

  2. Hallo evarybody peeps!

Man it's like 8 months since I've posted regularly to this board. Skydiving has taken a big back seat since I lost my job in February but I got up to the DZ today.

I chased a tandem on the first load and did a 5-way sit jump with a tube on the second! I've still got the endorphine buzz going at the moment...

So, what's been happening around here then? Is Kreamer still fixated with Justin who is in turn fixated with freeflyr? Are the sheep still hiding? Is AlienAngel still waxing lyrical? Emma still eating all the pies?

Give me a potted history here! There's something like over 20,000 new threads! Wow.

    Hope you've all been well!

    BenWho.

  3. Try not to lose your ears when you drink the stuff - Van Gogh chopped one of his ears off when under the influence of Absinthe...
I've tried the stuff a few times - mixed with Vodka and flaming - It does indeed do strange things to your perception...
The bohemes used to use it to enhance their creative talents - seemed to work. It is mildly toxic and promotes hallucination/flights of fancy!
    Great stuff!

  4. There'd be a damn sight less USPA D license holders if it wasn't for the low 200 limit for a D license!!
Now a 1000 jump minimum for D license is much more reasonable! People might just about have got some experience by then!

  5. Darky,
Have a word with Milko, Richard or TonyD and see if they'll video your next jump - They can work it out with whoever might be despatching you. You'll have to pay their slot, but it'll be very beneficial to see what you are doing.
If this doesn't help, it may be worth doing the AFF jump that we talked about.
If you're there this weekend, we can have see what they'll do for you!

  6. To those of you who remember Darkzone and his evil, gay, twin brother; I can tell you that this chap does in fact exist.
I was at Langar yesterday, where Darkzone was doing his first jump for 6 odd months. They put him on the rope for the first, allowing him to go back to 15 second delays after that. I was waiting to manifest and saw this bloke talking to Darkzone. They looked very similar. Lo and behold, it was Darkzones twin brother. I asked him if he knew that the skydiving internet community knew him as evil and homosexual (this part purely for Justin and Will's information...). The glare from one brother to the other was almost palpable. Oops, did I say something out of turn...? [laugn]
Darky had lots of explaining to do!
Anyway, well done Darkzone on getting back up into the air again! Keep at it, you'll get there - if Drak doesn't beat you to a pulp first!

  7. Monsieur Raven,
I seem to remember the post. Yes, I believe they do have the finest arses in Europe. I cannot vouch for the nicety of their Mules/Asses/Donkeys...
I'm hoping to make it to Empuria for the Easter boogie. Just gotta sort out a job and then we'll see!

  8. Mr C license :D
I've gotten to this thread fairly late but can maybe help a little with this. I moved from a 170 Sabre to a 150 Heatwave earlier this year. I'm loading it at about 1.4 and have done about 60 jumps on it. The 20 ft^2 difference IS a fair amount. The main things I noticed when trying the new canopy:
    * leaning in harness turns the canopy.
    * Not having a symetrical body position on opening turns the canopy.
    * When letting the toggle up after a turn doesn't stop the turn. The recovery arc is long.
    * Flying the canopy requires a LOT more concentration than the 170 Sabre (not that the sabre didn't...)
    * The landings are quite a lot faster.
These are all compared to a 170 Sabre which will be much zippier than the PD you are on at the moment. I love the Heatwave and am very happy that I bought it - especially when you consider the price. Packing is simple with the non-slippy ZP fabric. The colour coded line tapes make packing even more of a doddle.
How many jumps do you have now Clay? I'm sure you'll end up jumping whatever the S&TA at your DZ deems fit for you, so I'm not going to have an opinion either way. Just be VERY careful and aware that the ride will be *TOTALLY* different to what you are used to. You'll get down from your first jump and say "Damn, that's a twitchy sucker!!". I know I did. Fun. Could kill you. Be careful and be informed.
If you wanna talk some more, send me a PM.
