I have a little over 100 dives in mine.

Build quality is superb, with not a single lose thread showing yet.
I use them mainly for AFF and they have MASSIVE leg power when
the student is behaving like an evaluator. I'm always dialed right
back on tracking dives. They really do move, but without the physical load that booties give you. I've managed flat fall rates with light AFF students on 103 MPH and sub 100 when tracking. In a sit they're happy at 150 mph. I like that range.

Good in a sit any idea on headsdown how they are. Looking for a pair of pants good for all types of dives

  2. Rehab from car accident is over and looking to get back in the air after several months. Wanted to get some FF pants and looking to see who knows what company has the quickest turn around time on pants and how the quality of those pants are. Thanks

no, originally it said that he had his house raided due to gunshots reported by neighbors. it seems that some people were thinking that by telling the dzo he was wanted in case they come looking for him, he was ratting someone out. this is not the case, it is simply letting friends know there may be a possibility of heat looking for him and giving them a chance to hide their questionable activities.

Nope. Not buying. If i did buy it it would be to get it back to the guy who lost it, and he can pay me what i had to pay to get it. Thats what alot of people mentioned and thats the right thing to do. As far as me and law enforcement, i USED to be in law enforcement. It was fun but unless i see serious violations of the law where life is in danger, i dont get involved as should be the same for everone else for the most part.

And as my post said, I didn't get in before the original post was deleted... got the impression from other posts that this MIGHT be the case. Reference to the fact that you used to be in law enforcement reinforced the possibility.

I make no judgements either way but realised my opinion (and that's what was asked of me) would be different depending... so I provided you both opinions.

    Off my nuts! lol

So, buy the rig dude! You have nothing to do with him losing it so it's not like adding insult to injury. Nothing to worry about. B|

What happens to the rig if nobody else buys it?

Is it a legit rig, eg can you check if it has been stolen, I know of at least one Texas jumper who has had her rig stolen.....It was a Javelin in Deguello colours. PM me if it looks anything like this....

Good question, i'm not sure but if it did go to auction i'm sure there are plenty of people in the auction business that would know how to get someone to but it.. Not sure about the rig being ligit, i have not seen it and for all that i'm aware of it belong to the guy.

That's not the way our system is supposed to work. The burden of proof is supposed to be on them to prove that the property was purchased with illegal funds.

    John,

"Innocent until proven guilty" means the burden of proof is on them... to prove that you commited the crime. Once that is satisfied, you are a criminal. Your rights change.

    To the original poster,

I missed the post before it was deleted. If I get the tone right. My vote is BUY THE RIG! it's cheap gear, if you don't buy it, another skydiver will... if another skydiver don't buy it... some whuffo will. You'd be doing the incarcerated jumper a service by jumping it and maintaining it and returning it to him at a decent price when he can use it again.

However, judging by a few of the shorter responses, I get the feeling you may have played a small role in getting said "drug dealer" into the position he is in today.

If that were the case and I were you, I wouldn't touch that rig with a 15 foot pole... and I would know that instinctively... without a DZ.com poll.

Now thats pretty fucked up to even assume that. The way this came across is that i was in law enforcement and i know several cops and these cops know i jump. When this happened at the house they saw the rig and all and mentioned it to me if it were seized it would go up in auction. They were giving me the heads up on the rig. Thats the jist to the whole story. I only know he jumps at the dz i do because of log book and other papers found with the rig. As far as rating him out to everyone, that wasnt the case if you read the post right. I made mention to the DZO and only the DZO. And i'll tell you one thing, its like others have said, if i didnt get it another jumper would. Lets just "assume here seeing how everyone does. If someone told you the had lets say a VooDoo rig with a Crossfire 2 169, a PD 160 reserve, cypress and it fit and its only 1 year old with 200 jumps and the price is $1500 and they got it from another skydiver, you may decide not to buy it but you sure as fuck would think about it real hard. I guaranfuckintee you someone from 100 jumps to 5000 jumps would buy it without thinking twice about it. Hell man, i could have named names and the whole nine yards and not even ask the question here. But you know, bottom line is i say nothing and if i can buy the rig i will and i will put it in a closet and hold till i can find the guy so he can get it back

  7. Actually they do have the right to enter the house. The call was for shots fired and the house did have bullet holes all over the house. No answer at the door so they cant just leave. Entry was made to search for possible victims or even suspects and then all the drugs were found. They did not search for the drugs intitially but because of the amount it wasnt hard to see. Once the drugs are found in plain view, its handled the same was if you got pulled over by the cops for speeding and he sees cocaine on the floor board......car gets seized and sold. I'm not saying anything anyway. This guy has enough problems coming to him and i'm gonna try to buy his rig and sell it back to him so he can at least have that to look forward to. Maybe he will learn something out of it. Who knows.

everything is being seized including his rig... Almost feels like i'm stealing another skydivers rig...

The people who stole the rig were the government. The parachute rig has no relationship to the crime committed. They pull this shit under the guise of "everything he owned was bought with the illegal proceeds from drugs". Have they proven that? Probably not, but they'll take it anyway. I would bet that even if he provided a receipt proving he purchased the rig before he got involved in drugs, they still wouldn't give it back.

Good idea from the responses. IF i get the chance to buy it (not sure yet if its part of the seizure) i'll try to buy it and if it fits and the main and reserve are something i can use, maybe i'll jump it a few times and then in the closet it goes and i'll just hang on to it and sell it back to the guy who ownes it for what i paid and hopefully he'll appreciate it

I don't think it's any of your or the DZO's business. What this guy does outside the DZ is his own business. If he is high at the dz that's another story, but all you really have proof of is that he was growing weed and (assumedly) dealing.

Also, as the post above me said - do you really think he's going to be free anytime soon??

When the house was raided there was no one home. Police were called to the house initially because of a report of gunfire. Bullet holes all over. Got access to the house when they found everything inside. The guy with the rig is still free as of now. The police may come knocking at the DZ to try and find this guy and if there are drugs at the DZ, theres no tellen what may happen at the DZ by police.

  10. I heard there is a 4 month wait on Ouragan pants. Damn thats a long time. Looking for info on other FF pants and what you like about them and to see if there is a quicker delivery time. Thanks.

Norman -- The following is not meant to minimize what you are going through in any way... How you view "luck" is a matter of perspective. A 60 mph crash is a recipe for disaster. Since you are not dead or (apparently) permanently disabled, you could be considered VERY lucky.

Best wishes for a full and rapid recovery, allowing you to fulfill your skydiving and other life goals.

Hey Doug, theres not a day that goes by that i dont relive that accident in my head over and over and about how i could have been killed or that i may have killed someone else. I do consider myself very, very lucky to be alive and knowing that i will jump again makes me even luckier.

    Doug

Don't that suck... what was the speed limit where the accident happened? If less than 60 mph, you might have a case to recoup some (future skydiving) expenses...

Just kidding, but the timing really sucked though.... heal fast, will ya?

Trust me, i will recoup losses. Missing skydiving is actually counted as pain and suffering because one cannot enjoy his/hers hobbies.

  13. Didnt do very many jumps last year so told my wife i was gonna jump my ass off in 05 starting in January. Told her at least 150 jumps this new year. Dec 28th rolls around and some guys decides to pull out in front of me with no reaction time while i'm going 60 mph. Trip to the hospital, doctors visits ever since the accident. Spine is "S" shaped instead of straight and its twisted. X-rays looked nasty. I was so pumped for January and when the accident took me out i almost cried like a little baby because i knew i wasnt gonna jump. Hopefully in a few months i'll be back up but in the meantime i wish all my fellow jumpers safe and happy skydives and hope to be flying with you soon. To those from Skydive San Marcos------I'll shall return. Blue skies everyone.

  14. Hey Mike. I also have a J2 with a 181 reserve but i have a Sabre2 170. I dont know how much of a packing volume difference there is but one thing to remember is that the J2 Dbag is designed for a 150 sq ft canopy so your stuffing and extra 20 sq ft of fabric into the bag. It is a bitch to pack but it is possible. I usually have someone pack mine but when i do it i do the reverse s-fold. Have someone who knows how to do the reverse s-fold show you and i think you may have an easier time packing.
