  2. Hi all
One of my friends had a weird malfunction; one the canopy opened he started to hear a deferent sound, when he landed (it was a PD navigator 260)
He found out that one of the cells was cut in the middle from the nose to the close to the tail, we don’t know what made this happen,
can it be a line over?
Do you think our local rigger can fix it? 3 feet long ?
Attached is a photo of the canopy

  3. Hallo all

Just to know something about our sport,

    - what is the net profit for DZO's on Tandems, AFF's and solos ?
    - What is the deal with rigging services on DZ's ? do they rent or dos the DZO's hire them ?

is it good money for DZO's?

  4. ESG gives you wings – the parachute system for special operations
In the future, high-tech wings will make it possible for parachutists to quickly cover a distance of up to 200 kilometres.

    Berlin, 15 May 2006

ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH and Dräger (both part of the SPELCO Consortium) have designed a parachute system for the special operations units of the German Bundeswehr. The system has already been in use since 2003 but in the future it will be complemented with a special subsystem that is currently being developed in the form of a modular wing that is connected to the parachute. The wing is designed to enable parachutists to cover a distance of up to 200 kilometres (in the development stage).

As it is now, the system allows operation units to jump from a height of about ten kilo-metres and to cover a distance of up to 40 kilometres carrying up to 100 kilogrammes of equipment. Parachutists can thus penetrate into areas that are difficult to reach without their transport planes having to fly into a danger zone. At the same time, tracing this almost 100% silent parachute system using air or ground-based radar systems is extremely difficult. Night operations or operations under adverse weather conditions are possible.

With the newly developed wing, the radius of operation for the parachute is increased considerably. The parachutists can reach their target at a greater speed and are even less detectable than before. Also, the new wing allows them to operate unaffected, to a large extent, by wind conditions. The wing will be equipped with a guiding and stabilisation system. The integration of small turbo jet drives for UAVs in the second development stage will make it possible to carry persons over long distances without the need to jump from an extreme height.

Visitors at the ILA 2006 can view the parachute system with the wing and a range of subsystems (such as a navigation or an oxygen supply system) at the ESG booth in Hall 7.

  5. Fergi

Thank god you are OK, I am really glad that you still look as nice as before ;)

I will pass this information to every freaking skydiver i know, and i am sure it will make wing suite flying more interesting (spatially for falconers, we have a lot of them here in Saudi)

Can you post some of the photos taken for wing suite flyers feeding eagles that you mentioned?

    Regards
    Husam From Saudi

  8. Bill, I think you just killed that rumer, :D

    And to say the truth;

I think that the tandem rig manufacturing is by now thin enough to add on a new rig – design except if there is a brake throw in a smaller rig (playing with the fabrics technology)

BTW: how many tandem models are now working world wide?

  11. Hi all

I have this consistent problem with openings and I wanted to if any one can give me a tip or 2,
    :S
I jumped today once and the opening was so hard that it left me twisting after it completed.
The weather here in Riyadh is dry, and the altitude we exit from is less than 8000 above ground level.

I really have a huge neck pain now; I can't jump while my neck is hurting like this.

Please give me any tip regarding my problem; I don't know is it the packing or the position when opening or is it the dry whether? B|[:/][:/][:/]
