QuoteI suggested this, but someone told me that the BPA has the sole permission from the CAA to carry out parachuting operations in UK mainland airspace. So even if no-one renewed BPA membership, we still couldn't demand to jump under USPA rules.
Has anyone checked this with the C.A.A. ?
I know there was a couple of dz's running under uspa
some years back

What’s with the price hike U.S.P.A. next year for overseas is only $58.00 or £32.00
As quite a few of us have U.S.P.A. membership (necessary as B.P.A. only cover this country not worldwide)
Maybe its time to bin the B.P.A.
£105 is a lot for 6 mags and insurance just to jump in this country.

Yes I bought one earlier this year for my pc120.
very low profile only sticks out about 10mm
from my FFX.
and yes no vignette (black corners)
The service from flyers-pit is excellent.
three days from posting to it landing on my doorstep
you can always zoom in a little if you think its too wide.

The advice from Wendy is spot on you will learn more from watching a video of your landings than anything else.
also ask to wear a radio and get your instructers
to talk you through the landing.
The big student canopys are so forgiving its easy to land them without a proper flare.
the same mistakes on a smaller canopy hurt.

Hib gets my vote every time
turn up manifest and your on a lift within 20 mins
friendly DZ and the bar rocks
superb accommodation and free showers
went over midweek at the start of the season
and only three people showed up to jump
(it was bloody freezing)
they got the turbo finnest out and took us up
three people in a ten place aircraft
quote from swalty (you turned up to jump its not your fault no one else is here)
how many other dz's would have done that

Good point about the cutaway ring.
although its a soft rubber O ring and if i rotate the sping clip it sits flush with the strap.
Only on the mark one version at the moment I have still the excess post to remove from the ring sight mount now that its set up
that should remove another snag point.
Now if only the weather behaves

Finally got around to finishing my ffx
made the ring sight mount out of machined stainless
(helps being an engineer in a food factory)
also machined the cutaway pin from a solid bar
flush mounted the cam eye just above the audible pockets.
and just got an e mail from Toraji at flyers-pit.com
my 0.3 lens is on its way
now if only the weather improves just checked the DZ
20mph winds and gusts to 35mph
British weather sucks big time

I felt the need to jump in here after reading the other thread about tension knots.
About twelve years back at Brunton I had my canopy open with tension knots on the right hand side.
No sweat it had happened before and I had landed it ok.
control check ok inbuilt turn but quarter brakes and it flew straight.
No radical maneuvers just set up and land it.
My wife was out on the cross with the camera for a landing shot.
just under a thousand feet I flew over the runway
Hot day and we had thermals coming off the runway
I flew into what i can only describe as a large front loading spin dryer
I felt the canopy drop and looking up saw the entire right side collapse and fold under and through the lines.
I seemed to swing forward and was almost on my back when I chopped.
Hard arch and punched out the reserve as I came over.
It seemed to take forever slow motion and all that.
when we found the main the reserve free bag was wrapped inside.
quick check of alti and was about six hundred ft
set up and landed the reserve ok.
My wife got the landing shot as well just not the one she was expecting.
To this day she will not pick up a camera if i'm in the air.
Would the main have reinflated ?
at that height I had no intention of waiting to find out.
But I never want to chop that low again.

12 here would have been 13 but a local jumper turned up
she had been to langar and hadn't jumped
because of the weather so i gave her my slot

It was so bad the pilot gave us the option throw her out or i'm taking it back down.
and the door was off at the time.
Yes you know who i'm talking about Janet.

6:1:1
six weeks since i tore my ac ligament in a f*cked up landing.
one more trip to the physio before i can jump again.
one long walk through sherwood forest today instead
of jumping.
spring time in the forest the damp grass underfoot
the sun streaming through the branches overhead.
almost as good as jumping
